If the walk back to Flight Deck is too long for you to ride the ride, you should probably reevaluate your health lol. Jesus people, it isn't like it's 5 miles. I personally don't mind the walk back there at all. It's shady, gives a nice view of the ride, and secluded from the rest of the park.5 points

So it doesn't have use for a queue that long...what do you propose? Pick up the station and move it closer? I'll tell you the use....it get's people walking. I've seen numerous people walk back there just for the "hike," seems like a use to me. The people who ride Flight Deck, they use the queue that is that long....seems like a use for me. To say there isn't any use is crazy. It's taking up space to be better used for park expansion....says you...What does the park say? You bring up some good points chugh43, I think they're going to remove White Water Canyon because that queue line never is full and it could be used for park expansion.5 points

^But if a resource book contains an error, even if it's fixed in future editions, then a whole bunch of books will always contain that error. Unlike 1984, you can't replace all previously printed versions with the new, correct information. A website would prove more accessible, more convenient, could contain more information and more media (videos and sound clips, for example), and could cover more subjects in more detail. Like instead of just Son of Beast, you could have a whole website about Kings Island. You could have subsections for Thrill Rides, Family Rides, maybe even Planet Snoopy. You could even have a Timeline, page for Events, and much, much more. And it can all be easily, frequently updated.4 points

I've known some park owners who dropped angry guests into the lake. Count your blessings. I didn't say it was a real park.4 points

You fanboys complain about the supposed long walk to Flightdeck yet you walk around a big ass amusement park all day?4 points

I wonder if anyone has thought of putting together a complete history book of Son of Beast? It would include only facts so that, when a reference was needed, the book would be able to provide accurate answers. As time goes by, lots of things will be forgotten, lots of things will be blown out of proportion, and lots of things will simply be made-up about this one-of-a-kind coaster, so why not get it in print and get it right while all the data is still fresh and attainable? The book wouldn't have to be very large, but could include a lot of pictures - from initial drawings to finished product to the end of it's existence. Of course, some of the information might be difficult to obtain (info on cost figures, litigation figures, etc.) but as much as could be gotten should be in there. Even pictures of the pieces of track, wood, and nuts/bolts that were purchased after the ride's demolition should be included to make the book complete. Also, documentation of the accidents/injuries would prevent future stories of "all the deaths" that happened while the ride was operating. I know that a larger book of the entire park could, and should, be created (thinking of The Bat and all the "deaths" it caused) so that all questioning could be put to rest - BUT.....I think this ride in particular needs its own book. It could be the first in a series? What do you all think?3 points

Dept 47, you my friend have never been in a class with a medical book that is more than 1 year old. I was in a communication/nuerological disorders class. In the middle of the class the prof stated, 'Dont read chapter 8, all of that info is now not correct." It happens, books are updated yearly to reflect the newest greatest research and info.3 points

Physical exertion has nothing to do with it. It's the lack of anything to keep us occupied on the way back that is the problem. Keep you occupied? It's a que(sp?) line for a ride. It's sole purpose is to line people up to ride the ride and it does just that. What more do you want? It would "do just that" if the line of people waiting to ride was actually still long enough to fill most of the queue. As it is, I would not be surprised if the long walk to get back there turns people off from the idea of riding it. It's also wasted space, particularly now that SOB is out of the way. Except when there is a line for the ride it does what it's supposed to; queue people up. Still not sure what point you're trying to make. Wasted space? Huh? SOB was never "in the way" seeing how it was built after Flightdeck.3 points

Wow... three errors in that ride name in the article. It's Kenton's Cove (not County) Keelboat (one word) Canal (with a C not a K).2 points

I like Flight Deck's queue line, and that it sits back from the other rides. Not every ride has to have a queue made up of big ugly concrete pads with a bunch of turnstiles. And the line is hardly in the way of any future park expansion.2 points

Technically, there is a point, but I don't cedar need to bring it up. Me, catching the next flight out of this joint.2 points

You unfortunately do not see elaborate light up signs like that anymore. In fact, at one point in time, the signs for just about every ride in Coney Mall (Racer, Monster, Scrambler, Dodgems, Vortex all used to have lights around their entrance signs. Excellent picture, Paul. I have not seen that one before!1 point

Luckily, the monorail, subs, and train station are all sequestered in the same corner of Tomorrowland, which could theoretically remain open (so long as a complete renovation didn't close and tear-out the subs, as is rumored from time-to-time). Construction wall pathways are no stranger to Disneyland Resort guests, but my sincere hope would be that during a multi-month remodel of the whole land, Space Mountain and Star Tours might get some "plussing" that would require at least some closure. Couldn't hurt. Sorry we've hijacked the thread everyone.1 point

Thanks Department 47, I just caught that myself that I left out the 's in Kenton's and was going back to correct my post when I saw yours! I remember I rode Gulliver's Rub-a-Dub exactly once in my life. We went once a year back then, and every year I wanted to ride it but we never did. One year, my mom finally broke down and let us ride it. After we rode, I could see why my mom wasn't too enthused about it because there wasn't much to it, especially compared to Enchanted Voyage, which displayed the HB characters in a much better way.1 point

^*Kenton's I've seen this mentioned in various other posts, but have never been sure just what exactly it was. Could someone please explain to me what Gulliver's Rub-a-Dub was? I'm so curious! Imagine White Water Canyon, but without the rapids or waterfalls or jets. Instead, surround the canal with miniaturized version of Hanna-Barbera characters. Guests slowly float through it, looking at the scenes. A small side note, I don't think the characters were added until 1979 or so, when the ride was refurbished. Before then, the scenes were more generic.1 point

Yeah. Ive never seen White water rafting on a Giant Donut with seats on it..1 point

Thank you for summing up where we are going wrong with society today and our dependence to keep our minds occupied other than imagination. People now "need" something to occupy their time for a whole 2 minutes instead of actually using real words to converse with another person. Even if you are alone, strike up a conversation with another person in line. I have met some fantasic people waiting in line for a ride.1 point

Kings Island PR will most likely not help anyone on a "book" about Son of Beast....after all they just spent 3 years acting like it didn't exist.1 point

^^Along those lines, I wonder how many trees have been killed updating law books or tax books not only on a yearly basis but a monthly basis. Nice idea Hank. I hope your project gets the support needed by those "in the know".1 point

excuse me for bringing in logic here for just a moment. If the queue line is in the way, then the queue line could be shortened, not a big deal. The queue line is what 5 feet wide? Seperated by a grassy median? If the park wanted to expand that way, dont think the queue line would be in the way.... plus a non filled queue line is not a good reason to destroy an entire ride....1 point

If you think it's a "waste" to walk to Flight Deck, then don't walk to Flight Deck. Simple, no?1 point

Okay. An old thread. Well worth reading. From post one. Especially NOW. Hmmm. Must choose words (and paths) carefully. An interesting....diversion. Even some....cross threading. For every post like this, there is a reason. A lot can be learned from careful reading of this old thread, and not just by coaster and park fans. Especially now. Two paths lie ahead. Only one will be chosen. And that will make all the difference for years ahead. Which way? One way chosen. One not. A diversion. Yes, a diversion. And how. Well underway. A work...in progress. The best in fun, now playing....out, over time.1 point

Yes I noticed that too. Kind of makes me think he is a snob but I guess he does deserve some crecdit if he did all that work to get in the park. Nice job PKI but i was hoping for something like a hyper but I don't see it happening anytime soon.1 point
