  3. "Fanboys", or as I refer to them as enthusiasts, go to the park so often, they recognize the little things, most often in a negative light. They also have this belief they are entitled to certain things because they visit the park often. The majority of park guests, non-enthusiasts, do not recognize all the little things like a boring 2 minute walk to a ride. The park makes decisions for the majority of their guests. Do they listen to enthusiasts? Sure. But the park cannot act on every enthusiast demands or they would go out of business because enthusiasts will never be satisfied.

  4. I don't understand why some are making a huge deal about the so-called long walk to Flight Deck. I believe that area in the back of the park where you're secluded from the regular screams coming from the other rides is so peaceful and also somewhat pretty too. Enjoy nature! Love the trees!

  5. ...then maybe you should listen to us 'fanboys' instead of being a know it all,im pretty sure you wouldnt act like that out from behind your computer at the park, but I wish you would,Jr for Birdy will be there all summer! If the park listened to the fanboys, there would be no park because it would be out of business. Why? Because they would invest all their money in giving the guests "something to do" while in line for Flightdeck. Instead of, you know, making investments in something the park actually needs and the general public actually want. You stick to riding the rides and the powers that be, will stick to making the decisions that's best for the park. Since you brought it up, what I say "from behind my computer" echoes what I would say to anyone else in person. Don't like it? I don't care.

  7. ^ I just thought of something too. I liked your comment about enjoying the trees by the way. My thought was once something moves in next door to Flight deck, whether it be 2014 or 2015, either way, that long queue might be beneficial again one day. Can you imagine a busy weekend with the new ride. The new ride will command a 2 hour wait, those that don't want to wait will add to Flight decks line.

  10. Also: Sky Rocket (Kennywood), Superman's Final Flight (SDDK), Wicked (Lagoon), and dozens of coasters in other countries.

  11. You unfortunately do not see elaborate light up signs like that anymore. In fact, at one point in time, the signs for just about every ride in Coney Mall (Racer, Monster, Scrambler, Dodgems, Vortex all used to have lights around their entrance signs. Excellent picture, Paul. I have not seen that one before!

  14. You fanboys complain about the supposed long walk to Flightdeck yet you walk around a big ass amusement park all day?

  18. Isn't a big thing anymore? Since when? Two years ago? Maverick, Cheetah Hunt, Full Throttle, Verbolten, Manta (San Diego), almost every recent Mack ride. I don't think it's dying.

  19. Wild Eagle has zero elements like that. (I mentioned it because it is also a winged coaster.)

  20. I didnt read anybody complain about the walk,Im pretty sure many of us believe something could be added on or off the path to bring more people that direction.I for one, only walk back to ride FD when the park is busy because I know many dont know it even exists or they dont want to walk any further around the big ass amusement park than they already have! I understood exactly what jcgoble is talking about, and if you work for the park then maybe you should listen to us 'fanboys' instead of being a know it all,im pretty sure you wouldnt act like that out from behind your computer at the park, but I wish you would,Jr for Birdy will be there all summer! I agree w/ the first part of this completely. The biggest problems Flight Deck faces are that its generally hidden within the park so you have few opportunities for a visual "hey lets go ride that thing" experience, and there is little to attract to you into the area of the que. You've got (had) the shutdown SOB, the upcharge skyflyer, the unpopular and now removed go-karts, plus the regularly down for maintenance Invertigo & Delirium (which really are not all that close but we'll throw them in there) There is drop zone and Amazon falls, but neither of those ques takes you directly in the path for Flight Deck. If SOB was operational (and popular) I suspect that ridership on flightdeck would be very high. Its a fun coaster, family friendly and a unique experience in the park. Unfortunatly, its not a coaster that draws you in. As I said you can't see it, and most people in the park have ridden it in the past, so it no longer holds "must ride" status for the casual KI visitor. The Action Zone revamp, could eventually lead to a surge in flight deck popularity. My 4 year old will be 48" tall this summer, so personally I hope the que remains short so we can get on/off quickly many times this summer.

  23. Well Terp, I read the whole thread from beginning to where you bumped like you requested. Now I am more confused than ever. My best guess is that they are doing something under our nose and trying to surprise guests. There will be something waiting for us. SOB and other off-season activity has been a diversion, and something, be it big or small, is happening. I can't guess exactly what it is, but I think there is something happening. Of course I have been wrong before.

  25. Maybe if they install a Dip n Dots booth at the half way point to FD then those too tired to make the trek back could stop for a snack. Not to mention we could use their "INSIDER" knowledge to let us know whats happening in the park and future explansions.

  26. If the walk back to Flight Deck is too long for you to ride the ride, you should probably reevaluate your health lol. Jesus people, it isn't like it's 5 miles. I personally don't mind the walk back there at all. It's shady, gives a nice view of the ride, and secluded from the rest of the park.

  27. So it doesn't have use for a queue that long...what do you propose? Pick up the station and move it closer? I'll tell you the use....it get's people walking. I've seen numerous people walk back there just for the "hike," seems like a use to me. The people who ride Flight Deck, they use the queue that is that long....seems like a use for me. To say there isn't any use is crazy. It's taking up space to be better used for park expansion....says you...What does the park say? You bring up some good points chugh43, I think they're going to remove White Water Canyon because that queue line never is full and it could be used for park expansion.

  29. I like Flight Deck's queue line, and that it sits back from the other rides. Not every ride has to have a queue made up of big ugly concrete pads with a bunch of turnstiles. And the line is hardly in the way of any future park expansion.

  30. Physical exertion has nothing to do with it. It's the lack of anything to keep us occupied on the way back that is the problem. Keep you occupied? It's a que(sp?) line for a ride. It's sole purpose is to line people up to ride the ride and it does just that. What more do you want? It would "do just that" if the line of people waiting to ride was actually still long enough to fill most of the queue. As it is, I would not be surprised if the long walk to get back there turns people off from the idea of riding it. It's also wasted space, particularly now that SOB is out of the way. Except when there is a line for the ride it does what it's supposed to; queue people up. Still not sure what point you're trying to make. Wasted space? Huh? SOB was never "in the way" seeing how it was built after Flightdeck.

  34. "Pets Ahoy" Coming to SeaWorld San Antonio in June http://behindthethrills.com/2013/01/pets-ahoy-coming-to-seaworld-san-antonio-in-june-2013/ Good on them rescuing kitties and doggies from shelters. Better at SW than being without a home or worse...euthanized. I enjoyed Pets Ahoy at SWF which is what this show will probably be very similar to being indoors, the one in San Diego does is outdoors and is called Pets Rule instead.

  40. No, no, no. I love Van Halen. I love the song, actually. I just don't like how it ends on Drop Tower. I mean, it's a few words then the song fades...it's kind of weird if you ask me.
