Part of me believes we are getting a B&M, then, the other half of me thinks that we are going to be completely shocked at what we truly will be getting. I think the latter is more plausible. Construction has started quite early, something big, something hard to build. Last time construction had started this early The Beast was expecting, and bore a son. Now, we are back into the circle of life. Something is going there, something big, and something mean. Wood? Steel? I don't think we'll be able to tell until we're told. Let's see how far this rabbit hole really goes shall we?7 points

^Cute. My nickname at work used to be "Groundhog". Probably because I was always hiding in my office during meetings. Nah...I'm just being a little dramatic. I do feel stupid, yes, because I usually catch things like that. But not that stupid.6 points

Actually it was very original. If you do a nice google search the Flight of Fear was the first Linear Induction Motor coaster in the world. So I would call that pretty original on the part of paramount6 points

Mean Streak isn't like SOB painful. I think a lot of people bash it just because that's what everyone else does. Especially if they haven't been on it in the past few years. Yeah there are point where it does hurt but it's not a pain that would keep you in pain the rest of the trip. Suggestion: sit in the front seat of the train.5 points

Charlie Dinn built Beast. And I mentioned Cedar Downs in my first post in this thread! It's well worth riding. Terp, just sayin',4 points

Can you get a picture of the "No Camping " sign? http://milliond0llardarkparadise.tumblr.com/image/51810517199 I hope this link works! I'm not very savvy with adding pics, I apologize. Man we threaten to bring back the trailer tower and they quickly put that darn sign up.4 points

Interesting... I was at the Fairgrounds last Saturday (for something completely unrelated to KK) and I took the time to drive all around the perimeter of the park. I didn't see any change - other than some vines/trees cut back at a gated entrance near Thrill Park Theater. Granted I didn't get out of my car and peer through or over a fence (I wasn't invested enough to take the initiative), but it appeared as dead, sad and unkempt as ever. I saw no signs of "construction." I have to say, when you drive around it, it's shocking to see the dissaray. There are buildings with giant holes in roofs. Tons of rotten wooden siding on games buildings/food stands. Coasters are rusted over. Greezed Lightning is in as poor shape as Thunderbolt Express was at Camden in it's final standing years. The Giant Wheel looks completely rusted out. There's literal trees growing up through the rides. (On a simular note, I read online that the cement in the wave pool has cracked and trees/roots have grown through.) The once Black T2 is a pale grey now. The footings where Chang stood are all still there... it would be a hefty cost just to remove those. I've been vocal about my non-support for the parks "re-opening." I think it's a complete joke. But IMO, there's no way the park can be reapaired to a viable complete state of operations in time for 2014. It's become more and more obvious to me that SF walked away not only because of bad land/parking/rent deals with Workman's Fairground... but it also knew the investment the park would require in the near future. The costs outweighed the gains - thus they packed their bags and hightailed it out of dodge. Shaggy4 points

When it took a couple ride ops to shove my restraint down on Drop Tower and Diamondback I was suddenly very motivated to lose weight, and I did. I couldn't imagine being turned away from a ride, but I'm making sure that I never have to experience that.3 points

maybe the "no camping" sign is just a nod to the fact the coaster (if it is one) will likely be occupying some of the area the old camp ground used to sit on? behind top gun and great wolf? just a thought.....3 points

Supply. Demand. If Dick were still around, he'd doubtless observe that people gotta eat and prices went up a nickel or so. And that he was an operations guy, not a finance guy. I miss him. Then again, I bet Jack Falfas does, too; in millions of ways.3 points

I just thought of this. If it is a giga, Diamondback is going to be portrayed a lot differently.3 points

Just curious? How is Vortex sinking? It seems like it's on solid ground? Same way Magnum has been sinking for years. The ground is eroding.3 points

Not good to be promoting the park's re-opening if you are out trying to get sucke..er...investors to invest in a scheme the private sector won't finance, your own bank won't lend the full amount on as it believes it Is too risky and apt to fail even with the STATE's land as collateral, and that even you yourself were unwilling to commit to by April 27, but demanded 60 more days during which you could walk out. Just as the Kochs did. Just as Six Flags did. June 27, 2013.3 points

I think AZ is going to be revamped but in fazes by loosing the "paramount" factor throughout the whole Action Zone1.)Invertigo makeover 2.) Announcement to the destruction of S.O.B. in late July 3.) The announcement that thunder ally was removed for park expansion 4.) The removal of the water tower 5.) the bright repainting of Flight Deck 6.) new coaster (don't speculate my prediction) After the new coaster, I believe that we will see a lot more changes to Action Zone.2 points

Man I was hoping for the campground to re-open.. Improve Cedar Points facilities, but not rebuild a campground at KI.. Here is Ouimet talking about how he wants multiple day visits. Campers could stay at KI, truck up to CP stay there.. Multiple-day stays Ouimet wants Cedar Point fans to spend more time at the park, over multiple days in what he refers to as "fun-cations." It's his take on the term "staycations," referring to the trend of more people staying closer to home, even as the economy is improving. "The world is too complicated. You just want the best day of summer here," Ouimet said. "That's the goal we should have. We want to be the entertainment of choice." To help attract even more visitors, Cedar Fair has invested $130 million in Ohio in the last five years and plans to spend as much as $100 million more on new capital investments in the next three years. About $60 million will be spent on the company's three hotels and dormitories in the next three years, starting with initiatives like adding Wi-Fi capabilities at dormitories for employees and renovating the 100-year-old Breakers Hotel. "You have to honor the legacy," he said of the 800-room property. "But you can't revere it. If there were no changes, we wouldn't be here. . . . We're toying with the idea of adding a kids' club facility." Marcia Pledger, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealeron February 23, 2013 I'm hoping for a 2 fold project, a new coaster.. Wish it was a GCII woodie, and rebuilt campgrounds. KI is one of the only major properties that has lost its on site company owned lodging. Yes we have GWL, but that is no longer jointly owned by KI/CF. CP, CW,KD & KB all have company owned lodging of some type. And HONESTLY.. When hasn't Don played games with the enthusiast?? Its likely the 1 joy he gets is reading our forums and thinking, Diversion worked!2 points

Update from HoliWood Nights: As expected, Dan was nowhere to be seen. Neither was Pat. Paula Werne handled the main duties of going over the schedule with everyone, etc. before the event started. I noticed that the opening meeting seemed to put a lot of emphasis on Lori's kids; they had William give the Timberliners update (he has ridden them and loves them, and says they "should be ready next year"), and Lauren (?) gave some talk about how her and each of here siblings have a "sister coaster" in the park that most resembles them. Leah is studying abroad in Austria and isn't here. (Not sure I got the names right there.) I did not see any ill effects on service or park operations that would appear to be a result of the family feud. Hopefully it will continue that way until the legal mess is properly resolved, hopefully with Dan back in control. One of the silent auction items tonight will be a plaque with a piece of track from the Freedom Train and a photo of the train from its earliest days. Will be interesting to see how much that goes for. Anyway, I have to get ready for morning ERT, so I'm outta here.2 points

I'm so happy for you, McSalsa, and hope it works out for you. Don't sweat the small stuff too much. It's hard not to have a great time at the Point. Don't miss Cedar Downs, the sky ride, have some REAL frozen custard, ride Magnum, Gemini, Maverick, Magnum, have a good time and don't forget to try Magnum. By the way. Maverick is very much a front seat ride. And ride Magnum! Terp, in a Magnum kind of mood (though Maverick is his favorite steel coaster).2 points

... You have it, but with the added thrill of a storyline, an awesome queue line, music, and disorienting lights and placement. Not sure what your point is. That it doesn't need those things? That's your opinion, but I thank God we have it as we do. It's what sets Kings Island apart.2 points

Strange, every coaster track on a flatbed in the past 5 years thats traveled on I-71(in Ohio) has popped up on weight station logs & multiple media outlets. And now mysteriously this green track that was allegedly to be seen, made it to its location(or out of Ohio for that matter) without a peep on any media outlet and no logs at any check point weight station? Maybe this was an advertisement for the "Now You See Me" movie.2 points

It's about time some sanity returned to this thread. Firstly, a lot of the "hints" that everyone have been referencing are pretty far fetched, to say the least. The pterodactyl tweet was almost definitely in relation to Dinosaurs Alive. Cedar Fair trademarks names all of the time that never get used (Stratosoar and Whyte Lightning immediately come to mind) and given the history behind the Banshee name I wouldn't look to that as being entirely set in stone as the ride's title. I rather enjoyed Don's teasing about "Dive-____" through twitter, because it's done exactly what it was meant to do. It got you all talking about it and played with the earlier dive coaster rumors. It's not meant to be a serious hint at all. Even the actual serious hints are usually false clues, remember when Cedar Point teased "Gee, See, Eye!" before Shoot the Rapids? Or when Kings Island put up posters proclaiming "Ride Sally Ride!"? Secondly, please, for the love of Pete, stop assuming that footers have anything to do with ride manufacturers. Diamondback uses square footers for its station and transfer track, but round ones for the rest of the ride. But Millennium Force also uses round footers for most of its ride segments. And Batman The Ride, another B&M at SFOT uses square footers for all its supports. Triangular footers are used when three supports hit the ground in a close location, not because B&M or Intamin in particular like them. The footers go according to whatever is needed from an engineering standpoint. I'd wager that manufacturers have very little say in the footer shape compared to the track shape. Which brings me to the supposed Intamin track on I-71 South. I'd first like to say that this kind of sighting happens constantly. Cincinnati has I-71 and I-75 going through it, which are two major routes for transportation in the region. Sightings of track/supports going by occur constantly. Even if it is track going towards a park for its final destination (which is not certain anyway), why does it have to be for Kings Island? There are plenty of parks that can be accessed by at some point using I-71. Besides, it would be rather peculiar for track to begin arriving at Kings Island right now anyway. Diamondback construction started much earlier than this project has, and red B&M track did not begin appearing until late July. Gatekeeper's track also arrived well after initial construction began, and its construction began much later than this. Right now, this coaster (I think it's fairly safe to say it is one) is fairly early in development, delivering track now would be quite useless. That's just my thoughts on all this nonsense. At this point, the best thing we can do is wait and watch. Don't expect anything substantial until well into the summer, as it goes with most coasters.2 points

Six Flags sent in one of their very best GM's, Melinda Ashcraft. Melinda made an assessment of the situation, figured out what would be necessary to make the park competitive, and submitted her budget request. After receiving her answer from corporate, she transferred elsewhere, ending up as a 45+ year employee of the company. She just retired as GM of Six Flags Over Georgia. Oh, that budget that corporate wouldn't/didn't approve? It was substantial. Far, far more than Hart & Co. intend to invest in the park. Melinda's plan would have worked. Ed Hart & Co? His own bank won't lend him the requested amount for the project, and that's with the state's land as collateral. There's a lesson in there somewhere. And the crickets? June 27 is coming. At this point, there's not really even a deal yet.2 points
