  1. WOW- did anyone happen to catch all the clues in his comment??? For those waiting... Obviously talking to people that go to the park.. and there'll be "waiting" involved. Clearly a ride that has a line. Announce what we're building for the future... seems to be some reference to a "building"- so I'm betting its indoors. and it may open in the future. Grab yourself a Snickers bar- product placement. Snickers is obviously going to be the sponsor of ride- because it will really satisfy you! Going to be a while- the thrills will be so thrilling that the thrill will stick with you for a while. So- by my estimation through analyzing every word from Don- Kings Island IS building something. It will be in the future. Built inside a building, sponsored by Snickers- who is owned by the Mars Corporation (and before someone corrects me its actually Mars, Inc.)- and placed in an expanded X-base area as a Mars themed roller coaster that is 250 feet tall (a reference to the number of calories in a typical Snickers Bar). Since it will be sponsored by Snickers, they will have their slogan all over the line turnstyles with the mid-90's slogan: "Not going anywhere for a while? Grab a Snickers." And obviously built by B&M... because for some who's tummys can't handle "spicy" milk the milk chocolate will spur a B.... well, never mind. Solved. Decoded. Swish. Nothing but net. Dwight fashioning his best trolling persona... (i wasted a lot of time on that sarcasm... hope someone enjoyed it. back to work)

  4. I haven't really posted much in this topic for many reasons but, I feel like I would like to point out how silly it is for you people to be fighting over Intamin vs B&M. They both make great coasters that can be enjoyed by so many different people! Isn't that one reason that we are part of this great website? Because of all the fun and enjoyment we get from amusement parks? I can't stand to see this wonderful community fall apart because of some silly arguments that have been part of this thread. Shouldn't we all just respect other people and their opinions? Now, I really don't like calling people out, especially on the internet but I feel like this needs to be said, YoungStud, you have very strong opinions and that is wonderful! I love it when people can feel good about what they love, in your case its Intamin coasters(and I also have a passion for Intamin) but maybe the reason people might not respect you on this site as much as they respect other posters is because you seem very close minded about what you believe and you seem very disrespectful toward other members when you don't agree with them. Can't we all just find a way to get along, even with some of the "trolls", I feel like this thread has gotten far out of hand for too long and I really don't want some of the attitudes that members possess to spread and be the down fall of this amazing site. DCM, trying to restore peace while enjoying a great Snickers Bar

  5. You all need to relax. In the absence of any real developments, you guys are driving yourselves mad with increasingly insane ideas and approaching paranoia in regards to what is and is not a "hint." If everyone took a deep breath and stood back for a minute to look at the last few days of discussion on here, you might see how mad this has gotten. I suggest everyone here exercise some patience, and try not to fill the time with contests to see who can have the most absurd theory. In time, things will start to come together. Keep an eye on construction, enjoy the summer, and for the love of all things good, when you feel a need to "decode", use some common sense.

  6. I actually like that comparison.

  7. Here's a easy way to see the differences. B&M is a minivan: reliable, fun, not flashy. Intamin is a racecar: more maintenance, extreme, flashy ride, pushing the envelope.

  8. Got inspired to join and add my own opinion to the fray. Used one of your pictures with photoshop and google maps to do some figuring, and, at least IMO, there's no way its a giga. Here's why I've come up with this: I think the train leaves the station following the red line going left and down through the curve and between the rectangular footers. This should be the start of the lift. Using google maps, the distance between this point and the old KC round footers is right around 200 foot. Probably a little less. Even if you assume a really steep 45 degree lift, that just puts you at a height of 200 foot. Just beyond on this line about 50-75 foot away is Adventure Express, making it impractical to continue the lift any further. I believe most of the B&M inverts are closer to a 35 degree angle which puts the lift height increase of 140 foot. Add in the starting distance off the ground and you are probably looking into a height no higher than 150-160 foot. That fits more into the typical invert range. Granted, my guess at the lift direction could be wrong, but given everything we've seen so far, I think we are in for an invert.

  9. I don't think Cedar Point would send any of there coasters to King's Island considering that SFMM Just beat them with the coaster count... I don't Cedar Fair's current management cares, to be perfectly honest.

  10. Roller coasters don't have a 100% guarantee that they will thrill everyone, and he didn't wasn't impressed by the Intamin rides he's been on. It probably means he's been on a lot of coasters. Personally though, if you've been to Cedar Point, you've been on Maverick and that Stengel Dive will change your opinion. We get it YoungStud. You love Intamin. You're just repeating yourself and it's getting really annoying now. Sorry we don't all wet our pants over Intamin like you do. I personally have a diverse palate and love GCI, GG, and Mack, Intamin, and B&M. My favorite ride is Scooby Doo's Spooky Coaster in Australia. Give me a long ride duration and theming.

  11. Lol you think IndyGuy is trolling? As for the Intamin/B&M debate, both are different manufacturers that bring different things to the table. They both make coasters but are incomparable in my opinion.

  12. You know, I'm really getting kinda p!ssed off about this thread. On one hand people b!tch, gripe, and moan because no one is actually decoding. But then when some of us start throwing ideas out there, we're confronted and made to feel we're wrong and/or posting insane ideas. Screw it. I'm done with this joke of a thread. I'll wait until the actual announcement before adding any other thoughts about the project.

  13. The only thing that I gather from the "snickers" comment is that the announcement will come some time down the road rather than soon so you matters well grab something to eat, so eat a snickers candy bar to ease your hunger pains.

  14. Having spent months in Nationwide Children's Hospital with both my daughters, this story literally put tears in my eyes. It is beyond agony to watch your child suffer, and for these families to spend a day having fun together and forgetting their worries and pain even for just moments here and there through out the day is a job well done Kings Island!

  15. I don't mind if this coaster is B&M or Intamin. The fact that we only have a combined one coaster from those two big dog manufacturers demonstrates where Paramount went wrong imo.

  16. We certainly learned from Gatekeeper that Cedar Fair will ALWAYS get a record. Even if they have to fudge it a little. I mean, "World's tallest Wing Coaster"? Yippee, you're the tallest of five at the time of opening. I mean, I have the world's most powerful computer built by a person living at [insert my home address here]. Do I get a world record for that?

  24. I'm sorry your stuff was stolen. Hint #1: Don't bring a bag with valuables into the park. Hint #2: Wear clothing that: buttons, velcros, or zips for a small amount of cash, ID, credit card, and a car key. . Hint #3: Leave the cell phone in the car. Enjoy the park without being attached to the outside World for a few hours. Hint #4: If you MUST have a bag full of stuff, spend the $$ for a locker. It's cheaper than what you are currently going through.

  25. Maglev? As in the train? I've never heard of a Maglev coaster. Yes it has been toyed with in the Asian market, but never to full scale. sharp turns seem to be the biggest drawback, also power usage, the higher the weight the more power is needed. I did see a short peace of track with a single person car on it at a traid show once nothing to wright home about. Gang showers. It's gonna be a big room with nothing but a gang shower. No, then every one would be jealous when I pull my snacks out. (thought I was going to say some thing else didn't you).

  27. I am just saying that based on CF's pattern since they started installing hypers in 08. CP has a giga, KD giga, CW giga, KI's turn next year would make sense. Just looking at the amount of land that is clear, the ride it is replacing, and the natural progression of things makes me believe that it will be a giga and not a dated invert. And I will rebut that by saying that the footers don't give that sort of evidence to me. The paired sets of footers look like that of an inverted coaster's a-frames which support the brake runs and stations of every one of their type. Also, it is your opinion that they are dated. They only reason they aren't built a lot any more is because most major parks have a full circuit inverted coaster already, B&M or otherwise. I think an inverted coaster would be a great addition to the park as much as a giga would be, and as someone who enjoys B&M inverts, that would be awesome in my eyes. Also, the only reason that much land was cleared is because that was the land SOB inhabited. Remember, SOB was over 7,000 ft long. They wouldn't have just taken down specific sections and leave up the rest. When you take down a ride, you take down the whole thing. They haven't cleared any tree's along the perimeter where SOB's rose bowl used to be yet, which also indicates to me that the project is smaller than what most are guessing.

  28. Some of you on the whole "why people think this is better than that?" need a little psychology 101. All people tend to view the world differently when it comes to feeling forces on different rides and, in relevance to this discussion, viewing which manufactures are 'better'. Why can't some of you just accept that people like a manufacture you happen to not like? People are allowed to have different view points. People's nervous systems are wired differently, even down to how we perceive touch and tolerances to different forces, not unlike what you get on amusement park rides. For example, I find B&M's to be quite forceful. All the ones I've been on I've either had near grey outs or even black outs (on Six Flags Great Adventure's Batman and Raptor). I say Diamondback is a fantastic ride, my favorite steel coaster even over Millennium Force and Maverick. That's not saying I don't like Intamins, which I do, but come on, lighten up and allow people to speak their minds.

  29. When you say ride quality are you talking about ride reliability or ride experience? When it comes to reliability it seem everyone I have talk to in the industry agrees that goes to B&M. I agree that Intamin does take risks to get a new ride experience, but I am personally not been all that impressed with the Intamin coasters I have ridden. Intamin blows away B&M

  31. Some off-the-wall decoding. I ran "Snickers Bar" through an online anagram generator. Here are some results, and some fun speculation surrounding them... Cranes Brisk Will it be during the brisk, autumn days, when the cranes are in place, that we'll get the announcement? Races Brinks An armored-car, racing steel coaster? Or will the new ride come to the brink of "touching" The Racer? Acres Brinks Will the ride cover so much land, that it would take a Brinks truck full of money to pay for the construction? Scares Brink Maybe the ride brings you to the brink of a huge drop, and holds you there while the building anticipation scares riders? I'd go on, but the dang thing came up with a lot more, and most of them are even more of a stretch.

  40. Dude you did a great thing. There is not much you can do in that situation. You are a stranger with a naked child. Its a very bad situation to be in. A child with Autism can know how to get home (one of my severe students, I found out, rides his bike for hours at a time). I mean the only other thing you could have done, was maybe called the police non-emergency number? EDIT: The non-emergency police line would be more to just let them know what was going on and to cover your butt. All you needed was someone to call the police on you and your family for following a naked child home as he screamed dont follow me. I have learned that when helping other people's children you need to make sure you are covered just in case someone observes and doesnt understand what is exactly happening.

  41. I just happened to think of this topic today while driving my car 3 mph for a few blocks, I will explain. We took the kids out for dinner tonight and then stopped at a playground when I noticed a boy around 12 years old running around naked so I told everyone to stay in the car. I asked him if he was o.k and he said he needed a ride home and I told him I would follow him home in my car while he walked the sidewalk (he knew how to get home). He then started yelling at me to stop following him after a block ( I could tell he was going to freak out any moment) so I gave him some distance but never for a second was I going to let him out of my sight. He finally walked into a house and I pulled up and spoke to his neighbor who said he has autism and she was going inside with him, I guess his family was out looking for him. I hope I did things right but I was thinking about this topic and was wondering how the people here who know a lot about autism would have responded?

  42. For Cedar Point to fork out $30 million on Gatekeeper, but then give us another transplant, would be a MAJOR slap in KI's face. I'd lose all respect for the company. Why would they give us Magnum when we already have Diamondback??

  47. That's one of the chief reasons I left Facebook altogether. I can't quite articulate why, but I think there's something insideous about global social media. I'll stick with the few sites like this one, where a relative few people come to discuss common interests in a well-moderated, focused forum.

  48. And then there are the people who get p!ssed off because you express your opinion about certain types of rollercoasters. A troll is generally someone who deliberately tries to sow discord, or tries to upset others by starting arguments. The key word there being "deliberately". There are many times when someone simply expresses a legitimate opinion that isn't shared by the majority of people, and then they get singled out for censure. People call them on it and try to point out why they are wrong. When the person tries to defend himself/herself, it leads to some tension. People then tend to look at the person as a troublemaker or troll, when all they were really trying to do was express an opinion. It's very hard for me to identify who's a troll and who isn't, because I don't know their heart or what's in their mind - and thus I don't know if they are expressing a genuine opinion, or simply trying to be a pest. Some people who have recently been labeled as "trolls" have made some statements I find myself agreeing with. But I don't think that makes me a troll. At least I hope not. I'm certainly not trying to be one. It's too bad more people don't actually do that these days. I used to be on Facebook, and most of my family members were on my Friends list....until one day I opened my mouth and posted a status update which reflected how I felt about something controversial, and the next thing I knew they were jumping on me about it. It caused a huge argument, and almost tore my family apart. I had simply expressed my opinion, which they were free to ignore. The ironic thing is, they wanted to be able to publicly post anything they wanted on their pages, and they got upset when people called them on it. But when it came time for me to do the same thing, they didn't want to extend the same courtesy in return. Needless to say I dropped many of my family members off my list. I firmly believe the ultimate contemporary paradox is "I don't tolerate intolerance".

  49. It's only a handful of them...many of them likely the same person (see above). I figured this would happen, given the time of year, the new coaster, etc. My only advice is, as before, do not feed the trolls. And, perhaps a more heavy handed mod would help to clear things up as well. The best way to make a troll go away is to not respond, as that is all they are seeking.

  50. You couldn't be further from the truth. There is a reason The Beast remains popular all these years later, and a ride like Woodstock express has very short lines. Each is targeted to a different market, each has a unique ride experience. There is a reason Son of Beast was torn down, while other rides with similar problems were altered. There is a much different ride experience on a 400' launch coaster and a suspended arrow. A coaster is not a coaster, different elements, heights, track types, etc.. are going to appeal to different people.
