To be honest, I think you might see a makeover to Oktoberfest similar to the Gemini midway makeover....at least with the strings of lights and a couple of classic rides, and maybe a new thrill ride or two. I think that if they fix the clock on the Festhaus, that would be a start....still want to see a Giant Wheel right on the edge of the lake with a light package like WindSeekers light package. Would be a great view from the Biergarten.5 points

If I remember correctly, they hung a tree above Paul Brown Stadium when the last canopy section was installed. They said it was to ward off the evil spirits. If that is the case I'm not sure that would fit with this ride.4 points

Probably needs new wheels or a small correction....Think media day/opening month...butter smooth...just has progressively gotten worse. Looking at the wheels compared to opening day too btw, I mean they really do look worn, They were flat wheels when I rode them and my second trip not too much, but now the wheels have a groove as deep as the ones on TTD's trains4 points

For Cedar Point, your choices are regular ($112.50/each) or platinum ($180/each). Both are good for Cedar Point's entire 2014 public operating schedule. If you purchase a new pass, both get you one "free" admission this fall. Platinum includes parking, access to Early Entry (1hr before park opens), and admission+parking to all Cedar Fair parks including Kings Island and CP Soak City. There are other perks as well - platinum ride nights, hard-to-use food "deals", etc. Regular only includes gate admission to Cedar Point. There are no perks, and you must pay for parking each time you visit.3 points

Man!!! After looking at the official animation and diagrams again. This looks like it comes pretty close to the ground on the initial drop and basically entering almost every inversion during the ride. It makes me think that: A. The foot-chopper effect looks like it could be very strong. (Either from the ground or obstacles if they utilize them) B. The low level passes make it possible for good use of fog and other effects if they are planning on using them on this ride. C. This is going to be a very forceful ride. It might even be hard ride to marathon (at least for me). The low entries into high inversions look like they will produce a lot of G's. This ride looks awesome and I am glad that KI and B&M are bringing this to us!3 points

The topping out ceremony is what you are referring to with the evergreen tree. It is tradition of high steel workers, but it is hit or miss with coasters. More of a European tradition that has migrated across the pond. See TTD (thanks RCDB) (Manta: courtesy the coastercritic)3 points

I don't mean to offend...but after the first hill, Millennium Force is a bit of a snooze-fest.3 points

Unlikely indeed....but it would be kind of awesome! It could be the amusement park enthusiast version of mall walking!3 points

Bro, nobody has even ridden Banshee yet. And that's the best nickname you could come up with? I expect better from you.3 points

They can...but you have to think...it's almost the end of the season and if the wheels aren't failing or about to fail there's no need to replace them. Plus I'm sure these wheels are hella expensive...their size alone makes the price jump I bet2 points

If this coaster is supposed to open in 2014, wouldn't there be some activity now? Anyone seen any activity besides demolition in the location where the former coaster was located?2 points

Such a relatively small expense, but apparently not a major priority at one of the largest seasonal park operators in the nation.2 points

You're the first to make that comparison! (The only other actor/character I've been likened to is Matt Smith, around the time he was introduced as the 11th Doctor.) 1. So that extended arms wouldn't get in the way of seeing everyone's faces. 2. To be in complete compliance with safety guidelines in the photo. Who? Brad and Jonathan (Goble) in the KIC shirts?2 points

Based on Millennium Force, I'd say there wouldn't be any...then I consider Mean Streak....2 points

Correct me if I am wrong... 2 new thrill rides, 1 new family ride, 1 new coaster, 3 new kids rides and 10 new water attractions...2 points

I'll break it down as far as I can. Huh... I thought I already replied to this, but I guess I didn't. Invertigo: either end. I can't get into the awkward stare-off with the stranger across from me. Flight Deck: second row of the first car. You get the best experience on the ride (the first car) without the wait of the first row. Adventure Express: the last row of the last car. Racer: somewhere in the first car or somewhere in the last car. First car is better. Flight of Fear: the last car. I used to think it doesn't matter, but the last car really whips you through each element. Plus, there's no awkward hanging over the side of the car after the MCBR. Firehawk: the last car. There's slight hangtime at the top of the loop, and then you get squished against the seat through the rest of it. It's surprisingly forceful. Vortex: it's cliched on this site, but the fifth car is where it's at. I mean, with all due respect to VortexBFForever, I'd rather not be on it at all, but the fifth car is the best option if I'm riding it. Backlot Stunt Coaster: first car, for the unobstructed view. Beast: last car. Diamondback: last car. Flying Ace Aerial Chase: last car. The Great Pumpkin Coaster: the park says I'm not allowed to ride it anymore. Woodstock Express: the last row on Ghoster Coaster at Kings Dominion.2 points

Racer: any seat in the last car Flight Deck: first or last car Vortex: 1-1, 2-1, 7-1, 7-2, 6-1, 6-2, 2-2 (they're just my top picks; I'm absolutely fine with any row) Beast: in/near front or back Adventure Express: back seat, or usually in/around 1-3 Invertigo: either end (for me, it's the end of the train that faces toward Drop Tower when in the station) Firehawk: back row, outside seat Flight of Fear: in/near the front Diamondback: in/near the back2 points

If you want a over 200' woodie, don't skimp on it. Its like rebuilding a classic corvette the onwe that came with the 427 big block and putting a 4 banger in it to save money. How mang coasters has rmc did? If its 4, then there is a 25% chance of getting seriously injured or worse.2 points

He means Colossos @ Heide Park, in Germany. It was the first ever Intamin Plug N' Play (prefab track) wooden coaster, and currently holds the world record as the world's tallest wooden roller coaster now that Son of Beast is gone. http://rcdb.com/988.htm It's 196.8 feet tall, but only has a 159 foot drop for some odd reason. Still, Intamin's wooden coasters have shown they can handle speeds of over 70mph (El Toro @ SFGadv reaches this speed), without ripping themselves apart doing so, so it can be fairly assumed they would be the proven go-to for trying a 200'+ wooden coaster. RMC might be another option, but they are still very new so the test of time has not been done on their rides yet. GCI really hesistates to build overly large wooden coasters, and Gravity Group's 2 attempts at massive wooden coasters with steel supports (Voyage & Hades) are starting to get reviews claiming the rides are very rough, even after rehabs and Timberliner trains were added to Hades. So, If I was to build a 200'+ wooden coaster with 70mph+ speeds, Intamin it would have to be...granted the big problem here is I have heard Intamin Plug N' Plays are expensive, so a SOB-sized one could easily cost over $30,000,000... However, there would be ONE other flaw with the 200'+ wooden Intamin prefab...you would NOT get the classic wooden coaster feel, where it is bumpy and a bit jerky and feels out-of-control. Son of Beast was an attempt at creating a coaster that still had that feeling, but that stood at over 200' and reached insane speeds. (Alas, it failed) Can THAT be done, without prefab or topper track? I don't know, and looking at the history of what has happened to most giant traditional wooden coasters, I'd be very impressed if any company could do it, even with or without steel supports...2 points
