  5. Another great CoasterBob video. Too bad he didn't film me peeking under the fence. But he did get a few KICers!

  6. I enjoy Mean Streak (dodges tomato). I had the pleasure of riding without trims and after a decently-sized rainstorm earlier this summer and I loved it. It was butter smooth and it felt like a whole new coaster.

  7. If any significant money is spent on a water ride, I would prefer a "Journey to Atlantis" type ride. That ride was awesome.

  8. ^^ I think that a "signature" slide complex is much more likely as the next waterpark addition. The park is missing one, capacity could be better than a water coaster, variable staffing is an option, and Cedar Fair has been adding them lately. It would also be big and flashy, drawing guests into the park. I would really like a water coaster, though, if you couldn't tell from my avatar. (Even though I don't often do waterparks.)

  9. Don was just on 700 WLW talking about The Bat and the park in general. He talked about The Bat being an appropriate name for Flight Deck because of how a bat swoops around gracefully and dives unexpectedly. He confirmed that the ride itself would not change. The host brought up the Half Pint Brawlers and how he loved them, which led into a general discussion about Haunt shows and Ed Alonzo, which segued into the possibility of a Saved By the Bell cast reunion with Ed Alonzo and the challenges faced in doing so (I missed most of that portion). HW's Wildebeest and Mammoth were brought up by the host and Don called a water coaster a "great suggestion" IIRC. Discussion was had about setting a record for most rides on one coaster; Don suggested doing it on Banshee since you would be able to start at zero with everyone else (he also briefly mentioned doing so himself back in the 80s but did not mention hitting 12,000). There was general discussion about wooden coasters being rough; Don likes them a little rough. There may have been other topics discussed, but I was not able to pay undivided attention to the segment, so I might have missed something.

  10. I find it funny that the host is under the impression that the original King Cobra is in Spain....um...no.

  12. Considering that Wildebeest may just be my favorite amusement ride ever, I also would love a water coaster, but only if it, like Wildebeest, literally goes airborne a few times

  18. Not to derail this topic, but the story of the woman suing McDonald's for the hot coffee is not as bizarre or outrageous as you've probably been led to believe. The incident occurred in 1992 and severely burned a 79-year-old woman. The coffee was at a ridiculously hot temperature compared to other establishments, and McDonald's had already dealt with over 700 similar reports of coffee burning customers without adjusting the beverage's temperature. The woman spent eight days hospitalized because of the burns the coffee caused, and initially sought to settle with McDonald's for only $20,000 (a very realistic amount considering her medical bills and loss of income), but the company was only willing to pay $800. Also, do a Google image search for "Liebeck burns" (mildly NSFW, I may add) to see just how bad the burns was.

  19. I think a water coaster (as in, roller coaster-water coaster (Mack), not water slide-water coaster (Proslide)) would be perfect in Tower Gardens. It could be called "The Expedition" and utilize the waterfall structure for the lift and drop. It could also possibly go inside the waterfall at some point of the ride.

  22. We should be thankful that they even put up a webcam. To be honest I think about 10% of the GP will even look at the thing. Most parks don't have webcams redly available to the enthusiast community. I say take what you get, and don't throw a fit.

  27. I rode Mean Streak this summer. It was...slower. It was best when it first opened, without all those trims. Those trims are not there for ride comfort, but rather to lessen maintenance expenses. That they do.

  28. Did a quick Google search for "Amusement Dark" and didn't get any good leads. Just several sites with the trademark info and some other stuff. It was filed in March for amusement park services and various souvenirs so maybe Banshee, The Bat, and EXtreme Skyflyer will be part of a sub section called Amusement Dark. That would REALLY work out well for Halloween Haunt 2014, with Club Blood and Wolf Pack being back there as well.

  29. I thought it was Magnum XL-200 but couldn't remember if it was 200 or 2000 and didn't feel like looking it up lol. I had never heard it called Maggie before. I knew Millennium Force was Millie... Learned that AFTER I came back from CP oddly enough. Mean Streak I intentionally did not ride. If someone about twice your size says it lives up to its name and beats him up, it's wise not to ride I saw it and it reminded me a lot of SoB, which made me cry 2 out of the 3 times I rode it. The only time I enjoyed SoB was when it was lightly raining, making the ride really smooth.

  31. Eh, I'm siding with The Royals on this one. Like the Royals argued, the hotdog toss has been an annual thing at Kaufman stadium since 2000 and is fairly well known around the league. Why did he come to a game expecting to get hotdogs thrown at him only to sue for one hitting him in the eye? He wasn't aware of what was going on around him, period.

  32. Since you just got here, I need to point out that you must try 5-1 ( the front seat of the fifth car ) on Vortex. This is the seat Ron Toomer designed the ride around. It is far, far smoother than any other row on the ride. 1-1 is pretty incredible, too. Terp, really missing NJ's lost rides today, including Great American Scream Machine.

  33. You may have me there... But while Vortex IS my favorite, there are actually couple other Arrows that beat out The Bat. Namely, Maggie and sometimes Adventure Express, depending on my mood.

  36. When Top Gun opened, there was fog in the station. I wonder if the fog machines are still there? This would be a perfect excuse to fire them up again! The spookier, the better.

  41. Being autistic, my nephew has a tendency to run off or wander off. There was no way we were taking him to Disney World without having a good grip on him. Plus, the harness was shaped like a stuffed monkey that wrapped around him, so he loved it. It made for a more relaxing time knowing that we wouldn't lose him, and we all had a fantastic, safe time at the park!

The adults on both sides, arms across the back of the seat method perhaps wasn't used in this case. Evidently, the parental "Sit down or we're going home." method was equally unemployed. (I was a monster of an aunt, but... at least my sister's kids made it to 18.)

  43. People are silly. It is announced frequently all over the place "lowest prices for 2014" or some form of that. I also think people think (or not so much) that Kings Island is not in this for profit and should keep prices incredibly low all the time. They offer discounted tickets in a variety of places, they offer discounted season passes before the season ends and even extend it after the season ends for those who forget. They open up opportunity by years end to do a buy now, pay later option. I really find it amazing that people would be surprised that prices go up. Then again, people complain about everything. Need a rain check policy (check the forecast before you go), stupid Fast Lane passes, souvenir cups only good that were sold this year, blah blah blah. I've never bought a Fast Lane pass myself, but man, that is a great idea for a straight up profit for a company when people are more than willing to pay for it.

  45. Mine was Flight Deck and not planned. The wife and I went to Haunt on the 19th and it was the only thing that didn't have a huge line. Then we were going to go on closing day, but she ended up getting sick. So at least I did get 1 last ride under the Flight Deck moniker.
