That definitely looks to be cement that was laid out next to those bushes (or soon to be fully grown trees) though... Interesting. -- And I couldn't make it out before, or it's new, but we now have a wooden or metal gate arch installed over the two stone posts that is located where the entrance to the queue is. Maybe a form of this sort of arch.. but with our grey stone bricks:11 points

Don, Thanks for linking us to that! It looks like the backseat will be the place to sit.Love that "whip" down the first drop! Looking good! I have a feeling it is going to be like DB, not a bad seat on the train!9 points

I think if anyone should be complaining of the long day it should be Don. Wonder how many interviews you will give on media day and then for the A Kid Again Event?8 points

And here we are at announcement day. Part 1/3. The day started off with KIC Members showing off there guesses of the new attraction on some name tags provided by malem. Overall, they were pretty similar. And some were... Quite different. Join us tomorrow for part 2 of Announcement Day! Just 22 days left until Banshee Media Day and Scream for A Kid Again, and 23 more days until Opening Day 2014!7 points

I would do it at the park for 2 reasons. 1.) You get to go out into society and interact with humanity which enriches the soul and improves your interpersonal communication skills. 2.) Online processing fees help fund Skynet and will most certainly bring about Judgement Day!!! Edit: If this post gets deleted, it's because Don sent a T-800 after me from the future.7 points

The event page says that the top 32 fundraisers will be seated on the first train, implying that all 8 rows will be available. There should be plenty of downtime during Media Day itself. With limited seating, non-continuous operation, and (I'm guessing) well over 1000 enthusiasts - we're not likely to be marathoning the ride. Banshee's signature experience is at night, anyway. For Media Day, I'm really looking forward to meeting lots of people, (finally!) seeing Banshee in operation, and perhaps even being surprised with rides on The Bat. The charity event looks to be the best opportunity for Banshee riding, and it's for a really good cause. It's too bad that KI didn't plan a "Coaster Campout" for the 6 hours between the events.7 points

Scream for A Kid Again participants may accrue more rides on the world's longest inverted roller coaster during the two-hour charitable event than Media Day attendees may be able to do in more than eight hours.7 points

Are you really going to post that same dark picture with a few park lights on it EVERY single day saying basically the same thing EVERY single day? Just wondering,7 points

Hoping one day you do bud! Will you allow fans to take legal photos from outside the park and not make an unnecessary uproar on fansites? There are no issues whatsoever with taking photos and videos of the ride testing from off-property locations. Soon the passenger pickup area will open up for you to take photos and videos of the ride testing once the work that is being done with the marquee has been completed and the trucks and cranes are gone. We'll let you know what that opportunity becomes available. We have asked that unauthorized photos and videos of the ride testing not be embedded on the site at this time. In the interim, we have shared photos of the ride testing on our social media platforms for you to enjoy.7 points

What a spectacle......... This webcam can be found by visiting Kings Island's Website. EDIT: More lights have been installed around the ride!6 points

I would consider Elitch Gardens a major amusement park. Although it lacks any good rides other than Twister II and the very underrated Sidewinder.6 points
-
Denver lacks major amusement parks within an easy driving distance, and Banshee is one of the biggest new rides for 2014. Also, sharing a corporate parent with Cincinnati's WCPO-TV probably made it easy to get the footage.6 points

Is that the speed every train will travel at lift crest or is this train running in one train op? Either way it's so odd to see a train go through the course..To see something new there, and something built, but then to see it run for the first few times, just..weird..but in a good way6 points

It'll be interesting to see what kind of content will be featured on FUN TV. It'll be a great way to communicate with the guests too. Lots of potential for ad revenue as well as augment sponsorship packages. How's about a weekly talk show? The BoddaH and Terpy Show, anyone?6 points

I don't think they need much room for lockers. They usually come on a first come first serve basis. Also, remember that there will be many passenger who will not need to place their things in lockers, or just don't wanna pay for them. It crazy to see where people leave their stuff when they get denied entry to the line because they have a bag and they don't wanna pay for a locker. Some of them just don't care that their bag is laying out in the open and others get too excited about the ride to realize that the place they hid their bag in is not discreet at all even though they thought it was (i.e. hiding a bag behind one of Gatekeeper's wings in the entry plaza).5 points

There will not be any re-entry during the event. Everyone participating will need to be checked in and ready to head back to Banshee by 8:45 p.m. We will be closing the parking tolls at that time.5 points

How rude can you get? Hes asking if anyone has any insight on what new prizes are in store for the 2014 season. Your "The same ones as last year" statement is false, new prizes come in every year, sometimes in mid season as well. Take that attitude out of here. Don't be surprise to see some purple minions from Disciple Me 2.5 points

Slightly edited from the original intent of the thread, but... You know when its near the end of the off season when parks on social media start commenting on their respective opening days. Sooooo close to park season!5 points

Media Day ends at 2:00pm (14:00), and registration for this doesn't start until 8:00pm (20:00). That's plenty of time to sleep, hang out, and/or relax. The park opens late on Friday, so those staying around for Opening Day should be well-rested. I'm sure that I'll be tired by the end of the day. Echoing APE, I'm confident that it will be well-worth it. Opportunities to attend events like this one don't happen every day.5 points

Rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated. So far. O'Terpy...featured in Mr. Terpy Goes To Washington, coming soon to a park near you.5 points

if you look closely, they have poured a little square of concrete on the right side of the clothing and souvenir store. That is my guess as to where the lockers will be.4 points

A conversation I just had two minutes ago with a couple of co-workers, about our supervisors who are away at a confernce in Orlando today through Friday: Co-worker 1: "I wonder if {Supervisor #1} and {Supervisor #2} were able to go to Disney World today." Co-worker 2: "They weren't going to Disney today." Me: "Yeah, they were going to Universal." Co-worker 1: "That's not part of Disney?" Co-worker 2 laughs Me: "No, they're different parks, owned by two separate companies." Co-worker 1: "Shows what I know..."4 points

Also looks like some sort of walkway behind the fencing between Slingshot and Banshee. Maybe part of the reason Don stated that Banshee will offer plenty of photo opportunities. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

I personally like the early morning webcam captures, sometimes different things are lit up.4 points

If you feel you are capable of doing all three, by all means go for it. To each their own. I know my limits and that I probably would exhaust myself trying to do all three, and without being able to get sufficient sleep Thursday night, I likely would not be able to safely make the 40-minute drive home Friday night. And in order to get the necessary sleep, I need an early bedtime because in all likelihood my excitement for opening day will wake me up way earlier than I set my alarm for on Friday morning.4 points

I will be doing media day and the Scream for a Kid Again event just to turn around and be at work at 7am the next morning. I live 45 minutes from the park. It will be fun and well worth how tired ill be the next day.4 points

I didn't take any profits for planning the KIC event for about 30-40 people, hell I even in fact took a loss.. Having fun company and a fun venue to be able to share with people should be a drive enough, maintaining a profit is not, unless the profit is to drive other events. However if there is a paid membership, there should be no reason to further extend profits unless that money does go back to the members, which I do not believe it does.4 points

Alright I was unable to find my original breakdown so I did a new one using the "Mini New Hotness Trip" they are doing this summer. The trip costs $1650 per person. You can see their flyer for the trip here. Just so we are clear here my cost breakdown is for a single person doing this same trip in the same (presumed) order on the same dates using the same types of hotels. As the flyer states that they try to stay at hotels that provide breakfast I am taking that into account as well. The trip includes stops at Kings Island, Kentucky Kingdom, Beech Bend, Holiday World, Indiana Beach, and Six Flags Great America. Here is what I came up with: Gas - $113.00 (846 miles @ $4/gallon in a vehicle getting 30 mpg) Hotels - $538 (Yes, I actually found 3 star hotels that offer breakfast within 15 miles of each park for each assumed night) Food - $240 - 2 Meals a day at $20 per meal Park tickets - $222 - Internet discounts were used Skip the line passes for KI and SFGAm - $190 est. - Prices aren't up yet for either park for 2014) All together you could due the trip for about $1300 if you went alone. Obviously prices for hotel rooms, gas, and skip the line passes could be reduced if you went with others. Based on my experience chartering buses for the church I used to work at (and a quick but admittedly less than thorough price search online) I am more than confident in saying that TPR is paying less than $113/person for transportation (just poking around and from memory I would guess its about 2/3 of that) and I would also say it is safe to assume that they are getting group rates on hotel rooms. I would also assume that they are paying less than $20/person for in-park meals. Now is and extra $350 for a t-shirt, ERT sessions, and the luxury bus worth it to some people? Probably. Is that a significant enough savings to deter others from just doing the trip on their own? Probably. (Well, actually yes, because its enough for me). All in all, while I do not know how much it costs TPR to have ERT sessions and to put together the goody bags, etc., in my estimation it is safe to say that it is costing them less than $1300/person to do the trip. I will also say that while I am a member on their boards, TPR is not an entity that I would ever give my money to. While I do enjoy member trip reports and feel that there is some good industry insight and information on the boards, I do not feel that their approach is overall a benefit to the enthusiast community. Full disclosure my problem is more about my money going to TPR than someone making a profit off of a trip like this. I certainly would want to be making something if I was coordinating a trip like this but giving them somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 to them is just not something I care to do.4 points

I love the way the colors of The Bat contrast with the snow. It makes the orange seem a lot bolder. The Bat cam can be found here: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/online-fun/webcams4 points
