Or he had to use the restroom. As we all know, it can take a very long time to get between X-Base and the nearest restroom.6 points

Can I just please say, for those who knock the actors, there are many scare actors who work their a$$@$ off every night to scare and entertain the masses. Until you have done it you will never know. I love being a scare actor and will be until I can't walk. To hear what we hear from people is very troubling sometimes. I will say one last thing, we have alot of "seasoned" actors but we also have an abundance of "newbies" every year, and for them they do need some time before they can somewhat perfect their craft. Thanks . "Jack"5 points

Just listening to 105.7 in Indy and heard this Banshee radio channel opener : "This all 80's weekend is brought to you by Kings Island's all-new, high speed, Banshee roller coaster!" For this, I have to once again give the park much credit for getting Banshee out into the media so much!3 points

There was once a video on this site of a man who wanted the park to listen to us enthusiasts. He worked himself into quite a Fuhrer over it.3 points

Sounds awful. Literally and figuratively.3 points

^ With the last closure, the signs at the front gate said that it was closed hours after it reopened. The best place to check ride statuses (without walking all over the park) is on the TV monitors at the information booth (former FUN Perks booth) near the front gate.3 points

Honestly, American Idol is / was a fading show and I honestly could see this coming, in a way. Improvements have been made to try to boost the number of viewers and ratings in the past couple years but with X-Factor and all of those other new singing and performing shows, American Idol is kind of lost. (This is coming from someone who watches absolutely no television, and unfortunately folks love to talk to me about television quite a bit )2 points

I'm trying to catch back up on things after around two or three weeks of being absent. (I've worked open to close for 14 consecutive days.) When I open a topic it no longer takes me to my last read post in that topic. It either takes me to the very first post, or a post from last year. Is there a way I can fix this? Otherwise, I'm not going to be able to catch up. By the way... Hey everyone!2 points

A couple of weeks ago an Operator at The Bat kept referring to the ride as Top Gun. Last I checked the park hasn't been Owned by Paramount in 7 years, time to move on dude! LOL2 points

I hear her wail at the top of the hill. Is that live...or is it Memorex?2 points

Didn't even know it still existed. lol2 points

If its a pinback button I'll be happy...since I have one for the original Bat my uncle gave me if not oh well.2 points

^Nah its probably better at KBF But..but..I'm tired of roller coasters. You guys got the rides, I'll have the Haunts lol despite the fact KI's Haunts haven't completely really impressed me much.2 points

If the line is long, don't wait for their flying eagles. They are sloooooow.2 points

Don't worry about lines. Just make sure you ride the three woodies - The Voyage, The Legend, The Raven - and Liberty Launch. I honestly feel like Holiday World could use some bigger thrill rides, because other than Liberty Launch, there's mostly carnival-like rides. But their three big coasters make up for it all, and well, the amazing prices, cleanliness, staff, food... Are you planning on going to the water park at all?2 points

I've had the ride op say "Diamond!" and the train full of guests say "Diamond!" Reminds me of that episode of The Office. "What do we want?" "Pies!" "When do we want it?" "Pies!"2 points

Made it to X-Base to confirm/deny its operation status?Ha... Sorry guys. Yeah, Flight of Fear is not operating, at least at the time of this writing.2 points

Per the news release, the electrical panel involved isn't actually part of the ride. Supposedly the ride itself was down for less than an hour today, so that emergency personnel could access the area. That hardly matters to the general public, though. They will continue to claim it caught fire no matter how many times the actual story is explained, and with each retelling of the story, this alleged fire will get bigger and more destructive. I need to learn to stay away from comment sections on articles. I've seen many people claiming that the ride must surely be unsafe and needs to go.I really wish the General Public would just listen to us enthusiasts. Or park officials. Or reason. Would that be the same enthusiasts who were making jokes here before the extent of the incident was even known?Even now, what do "enthusiasts" know about the incident that the park hasn't told the public? Terp, known for asking questions, not always comfortable ones.2 points

Maybe. I'm not a big water park person but the rest of my family will be spending a lot of time over there so I may go for a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

As I may have said before, all Haunt attractions may be removed this year. They're too scary. Replace them all with, I don't know, some roller coasters or something.1 point

This thread is giving me major side-scrolling issues when I view it on my computer. It's apparently connected to the images in posts 1 and 4, which the forum software is not shrinking to fit in the available space like it is supposed to.1 point

I asked them to send me some info if they had some...or just pictures if unwilling to part ways with information. I also told them there is a lack of anything about that ride out there on the internet and to look for themselves. Don't know what they may respond with.1 point

They'd have loved the many, many people who called it "The Son of The Beast." And that was BEFORE riding it. You should have heard what they called it afterwards. Or not.1 point

Firehawk is always the worst for me. The line moves so slowly. And, even with the covering, it is so stinking hot under there. I usually only ride it a few times per year. McSalsa, we waited 4 hours and 10 minutes on opening day to ride Banshee. Whew! During the late 80s, I can remember waiting 2-3 hours for the major rides. The Beast even had "Beast" tracks when handled the overflow into the main park. I'm glad there are more high thrill rides so that people are spread out.1 point

I've been there many times. I adore the place; it's one of my very favorite parks. It makes me happy, and that's enough for me.1 point

As a former ride op here's my two cents. Safety is the most important responsibility of any ride op on any ride. Capacity, entertainment, efficiency, etc. can all go out the window, safety takes time, patience, and dedication. I expect ride ops to learn the sounds, usual tendencies, safety systems & fire extinguisher locations, etc. etc. etc. I expect them to comply with that before anything else. I did not have ops spiel until they were competent to do the job like it was their lifelong duty. Once the muscle memory and consistency are ingrained and perfect, then I can expect them to possibly multi task. However for a fresh new ride op to multi task, it doesn't end well. They may miss something, or not answer a question, or not have their eyes watching the ride (fumbling with mic, etc. etc.). However again once they're ready, let em take the mic and spiel to see how it works. If it doesn't work quite right, they can pass the mic back to someone else who's ok with it. It just all depends. Give the ops time and operations will get smoother at KI. They only get a day to a few days of training before they see people, and once they see people honestly they are still being trained. They are still learning the techniques and tricks to do their job to the best of their ability. Trust me the first couple of weekends I had serious gripes, some around me saw me roll my eyes at operations. However again it just opened, I expect issues. The ride supervision and leadership will iron all that out in due time, if not feedback will eventually hit the ride and it will take care of itself. In regards to spiels, information is nice to pass to the guests. It does help the guest and us as ride ops on how to board, where loose articles go, platform info (gates closed, someone handicap boarding, we'll get you on the next ride, etc.). Plus, as a ride op imagine doing a full 12+ hour day rotating the same positions all day on a quiet platform of just guests talking that's it. It helps keep a fun atmosphere alive (who doesn't want to have fun at work, especially at an Amusement Park) and also keeps the upbeat atmosphere on the ride up for the guests. A good person on the mic can get riders stoked for the ride and have fun, plus hearing an applause or a yell or something at the end of the ride. It boosts energy and fun for the guests and ride ops alike. I can't complain there. If you can belt out a fast spiel that gets some good necessary information out and some fun playful things that are appropriate and ok, I can't complain there at all. If the spiels are bad, hand over the mic or let there be a quiet platform. It's better to have nothing over the mic than a constant boring disinterested drone. So all in all for you TL:DR folks. If they do it right and correct, and have a bit of fun with it amongst the employees and guests alike, there's nothing wrong it in my eyes, and I praise them for being fun and creative. If they suck, keep quiet and just do your job and develop a better spiel. My spiel sucked week one, after about a week of working it out with crew members and my roomates, I got better. My end of May I was rocking on the mic and having a blast with it while working the ride. Same can be said for KI ride ops if they're determined to. For y'all that want the get in get out be quiet walkthrough deal, that's fine, but it's not all about you. Spiels work for employees just as much as guests being honest. Let us have fun at work with you while you ride, sounds like an awesome concept.1 point

At this point, I'd rather see several more family-friendly flat rides at the park than any new coaster. Coasters are nice, but there's more to a park than coasters.1 point

Et tu, Brute? A Shakespearean haunt couldst be fun. It hath been a while since I hast lasteth w'rn tights (doeth not asketh), but whilst washing the blood and makeup off myself aft'r a night of w'rking Haunt, I can oft be heard proclaiming "Out, darned spot! Out, I say!", 'r some variation th'reof. Alright, 'twas a Renaissance fair that was puteth on by a community theat'r group that mineth fath'r was involv'd with when I was a child, in which I p'rtray'd a prison'r of the Sh'rrif of Nottingham, rescu'd by Robin Hood and his band of m'rry men, when I lasteth w're tights. (No offense taken, Ryan. Just having a bit of fun, I am!) It's good to see Slaughter House's return at a new location confirmed by the park, and much, much sooner than I expected. I'm looking forward to the new location, which I would assume will more than likely have a new layout. Now to just wait and see where that new location will be!1 point
