  1. Glad no one was hurt. Maybe Colossus wanted to die with dignity and not be turned into as steel rollercoaster?

  7. I've never really had a painful ride on it either. Maybe my many years of riding King Cobra prepared me for properly riding a stand up coaster and it's become second nature to me, my body automatically conforming to the best way to ride. What?!? I finally tried Potato Patch fries this year, and now I have to go back to that wonderful little park to try the corndogs?!? OK, twist my arm... I always thought King Cobra was a better ride than Chang or Mantis. It was simpler and didn't put the stresses on my body that the others did. I actually sat out of the Mantis ride when my group rode at Cedar Point last year. And Kennywood, in all facets, is underrated. You knew that.

  8. The whole thing about how they kept the trademark hidden was brilliant. They clearly did their homework with this project.

  12. Just for the sake of avoiding confusion and so you don't have to read back: the park has made it clear that SR&R will be back.

  13. I do wish KI had at least kept the photo spots marked in some way, even without a major photography-related company sponsoring them. I remember where two of them were, but not all of them (one was in front of Vortex's loops on the path between Coney and Rivertown and the other was where The Bat gets close to the fence in Action Zone).

  14. Kodak at one time also had various photo spots scattered throughout the park, which mysteriously vanished without a trace several years ago.

  15. So basically, this is nothing new and everyone is having knee-jerk reactions to something that is probably not a big deal? Well, except the train wraps. I think if I see my beautiful Vortex all wrapped up in ads, I might cry... Unless that wraps are cool like the ones on Viper. I enjoyed those a lot.

  16. Kayak Pools sponsored Kenton Cove Keelboat Canal. ( they even had a full sized above ground pool at the ride exit for a while)

  18. Okay. Ready for the most brilliant idea ever imagined? Backlot Stunt Coaster - Presented by SafeAuto. A new billboard wrap: OR On-board sound system brought back to life to play the SafeAuto jingle on loop throughout the ride. (Can someone edit up a video overlaying this song over the ride experience?) And the disembarking spiel: "Annnnd cut! Great job, stunt team! Your wild driving still qualifies you for SafeAuto's state minimum coverage. Exit to the left, and remember to Play It Safe™ - SafeAuto."

  20. I as well do enjoy hearing various horror theme songs being played throughout the park. Hearing the Halloween theme is of my favorites.

  21. Haunt is honestly my favorite time of year to see the park! It is all tricked out with an interesting soundtrack, cool lighting, and fog effects, and last but not least the monsters and all their blood and guts! Then it is also the best time to get some night rides in on your favorite rides. I love driving up to the park and just see this thin layer of fog rolling out into the parking lot. It gives it a very eerie and creepy feeling, which I am all for! Christmas and haunted house season are a close tie for me... Don't mind seeing them mixed together during Haunt season as well.

  22. I have this episode forever saved on my DVR. I watch it way too much. My mother often told me of being in the park and seeing Bobby and Cindy during filming of the scene where they are sitting on the bench eating popcorn and ruining their appetite. ha!

  23. I also wear a size 18 and actually weigh more than you and I have been able to ride everything all summer. I usually need some help on Racer with that second click but have not had any issue with any of the other roller coasters (didn't try Flight of Fear, Invertigo, or Firehawk though because my daughter is too short to ride them). The only thing I have really had an issue with is Drop Tower. I'm not sure if it is my chest (about the same as you) or my height since I'm 5'10, but they sometimes have to squash me into it until I feel like I can't breath. If you are riding DT with someone and their assigned seat has an old faded belt and yours has a shiny new red one, make them swap with you. Theres a ton of difference between those new and old belts. One other tip I would suggest... with Diamondback, I tried the test seat and couldn't get the light to turn green with just pushing on it, but following a tip I read on another thread on here once, I tried it again and slammed the harness down all at once and it went to green with no problem. Now I do that every time I ride and it always works. Regardless of what happens, don't let it stress you out and just have fun.

  28. Something tells me a high level of promotional activity will continue during Haunt, Driven by SafeAuto. Perhaps free tickets on the level of the radio station contests Paramount Parks used to provide tickets for. Ticket giveaways, Driven by SafeAuto.

  35. About a week after the delivery of my copies of R. L. Stine's The Beast and The Beast 2 I bought off of eBay (thanks to the forum member who made me aware of their existence, sorry I forget who), I was amazed to see this awesome t-shirt on the $5 rack at the discount store in Coney Mall. What I found even more amazing was the similar tagline on the shirt's "comic book" and the first book (which says "Is the roller coaster really haunted?") Even though they're only loosely related to KI, the books made a nice segue into the Haunt season. Right now I am finally sitting down to watch the Roller Ghoster episode of Ghost Hunters. I keep getting confused every time I see Son of Beast, because other than three visits (two during the operation of SoB, but visiting with a non-coaster-rider, and the third when it was SBNO) I hadn't been to KI for about fifteen years before this summer. This despite innumerable visits before that, and at least 20 this year. So everything is really familiar except SoB.

  40. They're having a "party" for the growing segment of the population who view their dogs almost as surrogate children, and love to dress them up for Halloween. This is actually a quite smart move, in my opinion.

  42. Now I can get one Kinzel Cup (hope this gets trademarked one day, so I'll keep it capitalized) and refill it after I drink it until I get on a ride! Very convenient, no more waiting in line for water cups (at least have to wait one or two times).

  43. No need to get nasty about it. I was just making my own personal statement... This is the kind of attitude on this forum here lately that just makes me want to stop posting. The unnecessary attitude that comes across when just trying to have a friendly conversation and speculation on roller coasters. I apologize. I didn't intend to come off as nasty at all. All that I'm saying is that each park does its own thing and makes its own choices. You can not necessarily predict the actions of one based on the actions of another. Each park operates very independently of the next. There isn't a whole lot of intervention by corporate. That is a good thing, though - although they are run by the same company, each has its own personality.

  45. Cedar Point tends to make a big deal about ride removals, even holding contest or auctions to be last riders. White Water Landing, Paddlewheel, Demon Drop, and DISpatch mASTER TRANSPORT, all had similar endings to what Mantis is experiencing.
