I still, to this day, am a big fan of the Flintstones. I just don't think they'd make it very long today. "Wilma, stop cryin' Like that, the neighbors will think I'm beatin' ya" Seen that the other day, I was just floored. Then there was the Winston ads.4 points

Scooby was brilliant. If a big dog like that could be a scaredy cat, it could help inspire confidence in the little dog owners watching at home.4 points

Even in the Carolinas, cranes bend down in their continuous search of pennies.4 points

Stir the pot as they say, but please don't spin the Keggers. Pass me a Snicker's Bar too, we may be in for quite a ride.4 points

There's a couple even I haven't heard of. Jabber Jaw was pretty cool, though.4 points

This is something you must do next year. Period. No other coaster credits, just this. Its one of the few easy and simple things that can be done but its breathtaking. I am assuming you have never seen fireworks from up there either...4 points

Mr. Chan and the Chan Clan, Josie and the *****Cats, Jabber Jaw, FangFace, and Scooby Doo, those are my favorite Hanna Barbera cartoons. Even though Im 18, I still think these cartoons are great!4 points

More pieces of support columns arriving at the Fury325 lift hill site this morning as construction crews prepare for another day at Carowinds..... Still image captured from the Carowinds Fury325 Construction Cam4 points

KFEC is quickly turning into a dump. Needs upgrades and renovations. Some of the previous draw like military display and Huey rides don't happen anymore. I remember when I was a kid....the place was packed and had a huge midway of every ride imaginable. Not anymore. Send it back to its roots, or cancel it altogether.3 points

Nah. I just get my name on tombstones. Fake ones when I help. Maybe not so if I didn't! Terp, who isn't gonna find out...he hopes!3 points

2O15 revealed itself shortly thereafter, with Six Flags throwing multiple ride buying for a loop. Vortex? Stay tuned. Same Bat time. Same Bat channel. And, sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar. Others, not so much.3 points

"You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run" .....I keep hearing that in my head as I ponder through the pages of this gone but hopefully not forgotten topic..... ....Can I have a Snicker's bar now?.....I think I'll go ahead and bite in.....Slowly and carefully.... ...Have fun folks...3 points

Nope. Every viewing of the fireworks has been done either from Beast's queue (an admittedly terrible spot to view them) or on WindSeeker or Banshee.3 points

If I had to guess, I think these statix models are being discontinued...or being revamped for a come back at some point in the future. A few months ago I noticed that Cedar Point had all their models marked down to $15 on their online shop. Only Millennium Force models remain available. Kings Island's site does not have either Diamondback or Beast for sale anymore, even though images of them can be seen on the category pages. The online sites are not a great indicator because they are often not very updated. However, the price drops seemed very odd unless they are getting rid of them. Edit: Cedar Fair should really fire whoever manages their web sites and online stores. You can add items to the cart which are out of stock...which is pretty messed up.3 points

"How quickly they forget." Some pearls of wisdom here. And some utter rubbish. But which is which? And why...now?3 points

Banshee. I do agree with Terpy regarding the level of entertainment as well. I rarely watched any shows until Ed/Cirque unless it was simply to cool off. The level of entertainment in those two shows is amazing.2 points

That's in California, though it almost was Georgia, too. ??? Thank Goodness for Melinda. She saved Monster Plantation, too. Now, she's retired... And I sit up nights and worry. Even though I'm much more a fan of the two Northeast ones...2 points

You have to remember about reviews. Most people who experience something and enjoy it , go on with their lives afterwards. It's only those that have a bad experience or are disgruntled against something that post negative reviews as they feel it helps them get back at the place of experience. It's the same with practically every type of review. Just like accepting bids for services, throw out the highs and the lows and pick one in the middle.2 points

We wound up on Firehawk once during the fireworks. It's definitely interesting lying on your back, ascending that lift hill, and watching a fireworks show at the same time. It felt like they were being launched right near us. Kinda off topic, I know. Sorry..2 points

Huckleberry Hound was my favorite of the Hanna Barbera characters when I was a kid. At the park, I liked the Jabberjaw ride, and I always loved the way the octopus (whose name escapes me right now) ride looked. At some point I ended up with a Quickdraw McGraw pencil sharpener that I always liked, although I didn't see any of his cartoons (or know his name) until I was an adult and got the Boomerang network. I'll admit I also loved Scrappy Doo even though, watching them as an adult, I see his character as the travesty it was. I'm still keeping my little plastic Smurf-sized toy of him (that I almost certainly got at KI) though.2 points

Just an observation...if Snoopy were not a relevant choice for the Kings Island kids area, how would you explain Popeye at Universal Islands of Adventure?2 points

I don't know if any of you have noticed these newly uploaded videos on Youtube, but they are some interesting nuggets of KI history! The videos were uploaded by Youtube user VideoByGeorge. It's very cool to see a few of the now defunct rides and attractions in motion, as opposed to a photo still image. Check them out! I can just imagine a huge 5 minute plus ride through the Holidays with Snoopy, with a catchy song, and this footage you showed was awesome!1 point

And Statix is a registered trademark. If those models are being discontinued, remaining stock may have been sold to a US liquidator, like Big Lots, or they may even be sent to a park like Aurora's Wildwater Kingdom to be sold. I'd say that as collectibles, remaining stock might be destroyed, but clearing them out at $15 isn't consistent with that.1 point

It was Spotlight Souvenirs I think. Had to find it on Google Earth.1 point

Yea I can't see how this isn't a win-win. TCM gets some new programming (and new advertising dollars) while WDW gets a refresh of an older ride.1 point

I quite enjoyed Captain Caveman when I was younger. It was on Boomerang when my kids where younger, they thought it was just one of the dumbest things they had ever seen..........One of my favorites. And Hong Kong Phooey. You just don't see classics like that anymore................1 point

Pretty cool videos. For once I can say i was too young to remember the park like that. The one time I was gonna go on the Eiffel Tower at night, was 4th of July this year. Was gonna take the wife and girls up about, half hour or a little sooner before 10. and try to get a good spot to watch the fireworks. They didn't even make it till 6:00. So i took them to the hotel room and done the next best thing..............coaster marathoning...........And I still don't even know IF you can go on ET during the fireworks..........1 point

ah, back in the days when they knew how to do the complicated things like.... change burnt out light bulbs. Such a lost art.1 point

OK, Screamin' Demon's lighting package might be my favorite ever. I wonder if the Flying Dutchman still has the same lighting package in its new home. Or a better question, will it ever be seen even if it does? Watching that video (the Eiffel Tower at night one, specifically) made me realize that I have nothing to compare it to. In all my years of going to KI, I don't think I've ever gone up into the tower at night. It's always been one of those things that I tell myself I can do any time, and then never end up actually doing.1 point

Yes the rider will ride in a raft type vehicle and will be harnessed in. Not sure I see the point of this attraction and the raft reminds me of the transport system in James Bond Moonraker Here is footage inside the ride vehicle during the ride. Here are some additional specs1 point

I don't think I'd be that simple. The riders per train is equal to that of Leviathan which has a seating arrangement similiar to what you described.1 point

Having spent the last two years in kiddy land with present day four year old twins, I'll throw in my two cents. Did my kids know who the Peanuts were before they started going to KI? No. Did they care what brand there was? Not one bit. If anything, their exposure to the Peanuts gang at KI has led them to see what the Peanuts were all about outside of KI. Can't begin to tell you how many times we've watched "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" the past few months. Now that they are more familiar with the Peanuts, it makes each visit that much more special for them. Not sure if that's what Cedar Fair was gunning for when they went with a less familiar brand but hey, whatever works. I'll say this, we threw down quite a bit of cash this year on Peanuts plush in the merch shop so kudos to Cedar Fair, mission accomplished. As for the removal of water maze, I guess the bad finally outweighed the good. Sure there was never a line and there was little maintenance needed on it but it always seemed like such a liability having that attraction around. Then again, I guess it's no different than the tipping bucket over in the waterpark.1 point

Considering that it was Hanna-Barbera land from ages 0-8 for me, and Nickelodeon Universe from 8-11, I guess I would say I'm split on what the best era was for the kid's area. Since I enjoyed both HB characters as well as the Nickelodeon characters being in the park, I suppose my favorite era of the kid's area would be when those characters were both mutually present. Therefore 1995-2005 ('95 being when Nickelodeon Splat City opening). I see what you mean just judging by the "later" episodes being released, but I'd have to say that Spongebob was not as much so in the earlier episodes (pre-movie) in my opinion. In many ways he was actually quite intelligent, which is what used to make the Spongebob-Patrick duo so golden; one smart, one dumb. But, unfortunately the writing staff has greatly changed over the years, (most drastically after the movie), and yes, we are left with the mostly annoying Spongebob character now as you have described... Also see Cosmo from the Fairly OddParents. He actually used to be quite intelligent as well when the show first started out...1 point

Banshee. 10 times, may have been less. The only times I could get to the park this season were on busy days.1 point

they made a nationwide list.... twice in the same survey. Checking in at #6 & 14 (but #1 in your hearts). If I read correctly, only Disney World and Universal Studios and Sea World Entertainment made the list twice. That's pretty elite company! #1- Sesame Place (a Sea World Entertainment park) #2- Idlewood (PA) #3- Wild Adventures (Valdosta, GA) #4- Disney World #5- Disney World #6- Howl-o-Fest (Kings Island) #14- Haunt (Kings Island) Knotts in CA is the only of the CF park in the list. http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2013/10/14/spooktacular-halloween-fun-at-theme-parks/1 point

Kings Island is still responsible for what it chooses to put on its signage. Period. Coincidentally, both that sign and that article are effectively relics of the ancient past at this point. Homestar92, who feels big and bad after sassin' the Terp. But seriously, no hard feelings1 point
