  1. Please don't get me a roller coaster for Christmas. I don't have room for it, and I don't want the liability. If I have to get a roller coaster for Christmas, give me Big Dipper at Geauga Lake. Holding "rights" to it "forever" as it sits on someone else's property seems like a pretty good deal. Just as long as I'm not the liable party if someone or something is harmed.

  2. ^ Original post, quoted from Kenucky Kingdom's Facebook page: From a profit point of view, this is less than ideal, but it looks like they may be getting something right from a PR standpoint...

  3. The billboard company can't take them down? Joke or not, talk about something you wouldn't hear from current SIX or FUN marketing departments.

  4. The mobile store certainly looks much more modern than in previous years. The mobile site however leaves a lot to be desired. It's really sad that Holiday World's website uses modern design techniques that allows it to work fine on devices of all sizes, both desktop and mobile, without the need for a separate mobile site. A small park with a much smaller IT budget. Pathetic. Hopefully things will change for CF in the coming months.

  6. Great, now I want Kewpee's. Too bad it is about a two hour drive up to Lima. My husband and I were making a day trip up near Toledo a few times a year there for awhile, and we'd stop at Kewpee's on our way up AND our way back. I'm typically not that into burgers, but it is definitely worth the stop.

  7. I'll give you it certainly isn't intense, except the overbanked turn at the top of the second hill...

  8. Millennium Force. It is smooth, fun, and is re-rideable because it is not incredibly intense.

  9. Kudos to KK, getting the public before the dollar. This year....phew PR and KK seemed like two very different entities, but I am glad that now PR seems to be growing. People want to be a part of KK and want to invest, and KK needs that money. Sure, like what Home said, it is not ideal, but hey when it comes to PR-Guest relations, this is something that shows a sense of "Southern Hospitality". OR: The PR may just say that just to say that and want more people to buy with that in mind. Either way: Kudos to you KK

  10. Soon, the majority of Internet traffic will be delivered to mobile devices. It's bad enough you must have Flash to buy a ticket or season pass from FUN. Don't tell me about Accesso. The average customer couldn't care less--FUN is responsible for its contractors' performance in its name. So, today I get an email from California's Great America. Like many, soon to be a majority, I'm on a mobile platform. They sent a Happy Holidays video. That, on an iPhone, at least, defaults to their mobile website. In 2013. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Really? Pathetic.

  11. You LIKE ants, moths, flies and undercooked fowl? Terp, who just HAD to.

  12. Ants, Moths and Flies are extremely hard to control insects. They are to be expected most everywhere. Undercooked food, Fire Code violations, etc on the other hand.

  13. Ah Wendy's the people that stole Kewpee's burger recipe

  14. They knew. They each got at least one verified complaint at the highest levels, expressed about every ten weeks.

  15. That's because they also fixed the mobile. Now. Six weeks ago, it wasn't. 2014. Wow.

  16. For anyone interested in the history of this tape here it goes. Yes it was very rare to have a video camera way back then. My father purchased his first VHS VCR in 1977. It was $1,000. This was the first VHS VCR available to the general public. He bought his first video camera in December 1978. I do not know what he paid for it. It was made by Magnavox. At the time there was no portable VCR, so all recordings had to be indoors. He used a cable attached to the VCR (which remained on top of the TV) to record. He hooked a bunch of cables together so he could record outside. This is the first outdoor recording he made: it was January of 1979. Later, in '79 finally a portable VCR became available and he could go places with it. I will be working on other projects like Great America in Gurnee, IL 1979 and Wisconsin Dells 1980 if anyone wants to see. I will not post them on this site, but they can be seen on my YouTube page VideofromGeorge.

  17. Cedar Fair parks' desktop websites are finally, at the end of 2014, using a version of the Accesso store that does not require Flash.

  18. Just announced, via FB, that their Season Pass price will increase on 11 Jan. Those wanting them better grab one.

  19. That all being said, attractions on what is for all practical aspects, off-property outside the gates do not enjoy the luxury of captive audiences. Pricing, quality AND service must measure up. It has been my experience that QSL doesn't excel in any of the three.

  20. If my good luck continues I will be down there soon. Hopefully they wait to close it. While it sucks I would ride it again.

  21. If you think QSL is overpriced now... just wait until it's on Cedar Point property.

  22. Glad you guys had fun. I wanted to stop by again but other commitments kept me away this year. There's always next year!

  23. Sorry I wasn't able to come! Let's hope NEXT YEAR's party ISN'T on a weekend where I have another commitment! In the meantime, I'm glad you had lots of fun.

  24. Part 2: more photos! The attractions make good use of the available space. The hydromagnetic water coaster winds through a large portion of the waterpark building, and many of the slides go outside. Enjoying breakfast in the morning. DontWantToWait42Mar0 opening my gift, with some help from jcgoble3. That's a pretty big smile, Jonathan, for as much as you dislike the noodle. As featured in the random photo thread. I tried to get a group photo. Jonathan decided to run. Jeremy gave chase. You never know what will happen at a KIC meetup. Even though his (stolen) coasters got stolen again, MDMC01 was excited to get a cassette tape. More white elephant fun.

  26. He sure does. Disneyland Park in sunny Anaheim, California. Soon on Lantau Island, Hong Kong, too. And in Marne-la-Vallee, France?

  27. From my understanding the only updates will be in the preshow and queue and then once the new areas of the park go online they will take it down for a major update. The park cannot afford anymore attractions offline right now, which is why they are slow rolling this.

  29. It's good to see that they're keeping the mobile site updated, but maintaining two different sites is much less than ideal in 2013. Most noticeably, links to content malfunction when viewed on the "wrong" type of device, undercutting a key benefit of the web. A properly built website should be able to function on any standards-compliant browser, whether it's running on a desktop computer, a mobile phone, a tablet, or a smart TV. I understand FUN's reason for maintaining two sites; using Accesso's turnkey solution saves having to contract with another vendor and/or obtain talent outside of their core business. Building a mobile-ready website requires more specialized skills than creating a desktop-only website, as techniques for the former are a much more recent evolution. Of course, customers aren't interested in these types of excuses when they encounter a broken link.

  30. Like many others here, my favorite memory of HB Land is The Enchanted Voyage...I can still remember how (literally) cool it felt inside on a hot summer day.
