  1. I hope the company the best on its current path so the orcas have a benefactor for their remaining years. I fear a "The End of Seaworld is 'very near' " thread soon after 2019. Never been to SeaWorld and not sure I could enjoy a orca show after watch Blackfish. But I have always been somewhat conflicted even visiting a zoo.
  2. There is the problem. The current souviner cup is probably about 32oz, if the paper cups are 12oz theoretically people will be filling them more than twice as often. You think lines are bad now? Something else I thought of this morning. With the plan tied to your SP think of all the $15 lanyards they will be able to sell!
  3. KI and to a lesser degree CP do not have enough dedicated drink stands. I drink more than I eat at a park. For me, guests holding up drink lines to order multiple chicken strips is the most annoying part of the current setup.
  4. Absolutely, as long as they don't try and do it with Kinzel Cups. Honestly I would probably buy 3 of these plans instead of sharing 1 souvenir cup. Dang it, there go my plans to Decrease my per cap spending at the parks next year. Foiled again. Those corporate bean counters in Sandusky have to much free time during the off season.
  5. ^ I didn't get the survey but heard about it on pointbuzz. From a consumer stand point refill interval is key. From the park's point of view the souviner cups have to be dirt cheap in the quantities they order and then they have to deal with increased costs of the paper cups, increased labor costs for park cleanup and trash disposal on top of some level of lost locker revenue. I think it would be worth it even at a premium over the souviner cups. Now my boys and I share one souviner cup, I would probably buy 2 or 3 of those passes so I could have my own cup of ice water.
  6. Just got off the phone with my step mom and looks like she is getting the boys a COSI family pass for 2017. I told everyone to focus on experiential items this year becuase there really are few physical things they want or need right now and boys Genrally don't like getting clothes as presents. My mom is going to get them SF passes, now if I can just find someone to flip for the CF passes. I don't think I am going to have much luck with that. By the way if I have 3 Groupon passes to COSI that expire on the 15th if someone wants them and is willing to meet me somewhere around Polaris or Worthington. No Charge. Final exams are this week so we are not going to be able to use them.
  7. Careful what you wish for. Six Flags over Cincinnati. The horror, the horror.
  8. Another option to grow revenue is to market their brand outside the park. For instance start of chain of fast food restaurants serving up their line of premium burgers, chicken strips and chicken sandwiches. Right now if you want that deliciousness you have to drive to the park and you can't even get it during the off season. The pent up demand is just huge, just look at how long the lines are the first couple of weeks of the season.
  9. Great thread idea to go along with This or That. Legitimate or Illegitimate?
  10. ^ Assuming CF really does operate under the 5 year plan model we might be seeing those changes come to light very soon.
  11. ^ Cable snapping sound effects would be more effective.
  12. Happens all the time to me depending on the forum software, usually old stuff. Rarely, but on occasion on KIC. Not just an Android issue as I use an iPad 3. Reboot usually fixes it.
  13. At least as it pertains to coasters the fear I have is they build some kick butt $20-30M coaster with VR designed right in but up charge it $25 due to the capacity issues.
  14. I am sure he said a lot more but the bolded parts are unsettling to me. I have more than enough video game technology in my house. Yes I go to parks for fun, but not to get a score. I don't see the magic in that.
  15. . Could even toss all those Splintercat fans a bone and maybe they would leave the coasters alone? What is up with the name "Action Zone" anyway? I assume it is a leftover from the Paramount days as in "lights, camera, action!"? But what does it mean now? This is where the "Action" is and all the other areas are slow and boring? This is where you go to get some action? I don't get it.
  16. I think you misunderstand what I mean by "word economics". He had 20-30 seconds of content but wanted a 5 minute video, so he said the same thing over and over again.
  17. ^ This guy has no concept of word economics. Few YouTubers do, thus why I avoid it as much as possible.
  18. CP Rundown claims they had permission to take some pics. https://www.facebook.com/cprundown/
  19. Although I am sure there are many factors involved in the decline of amusement parks holding mainstream concerts one big one is how the business model has changed in the digital age. Back in the day, say pre late 90's concerts were a "promotional tour" to "support" the release of a new album. You don't hear those words much anymore. Outside of huge acts like the Stones and such concerts were not huge profit centers. As revenue dried up from from album sales with the onslaught of pirated music and digital distribution, the industry turned to tours for revenue increasing both the production value of them and the ticket prices as well. While radio stations and such still give out tickets to shows there is a lot less of it now. Gone are the days when we could go to any show we wanted and bring a gaggle of friends along with us. In fact many times stations have to actually purchase a percentage of their promotional tickets. Christian and Country have always been separate entities in the business and still operate to a degree in the old model which is likely why parks still find it profitable to bring them in.
  20. Pink and Green! I am color blind, what do I care?
  21. Probably only 2 or 3 votes total becuase they have better things to do like argue over drone policy and 2017 vs. 2018.
  22. The couple of reports I saw from a couple of hours ago said "near Six Flags" and seemed more as a point of geographic reference.
  23. ^ Gillette sure has to be imaginative to market its overpriced razors. They are hawking the Rogue One razor on Amazon right now. WTF? https://www.amazon.com/Rogue-One-StoryTM-Special-ProShield/dp/B01L8XESM8/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1480540578&sr=8-1&keywords=rogue%2Bone%2Brazor&th=1 The worst I have seen recently was a bag of BB-8 oranges last year.
