  1. Well it was last July so I can't be sure exactly what I said, but I made it clear the Boys and I had platinum passes would need to buy her tickets. Why would anyone buy a $65 GA ticket for their spouse when you can get a $40 bring a friend? In my case it worked out in the end because she was able to make it to KI twice and we didn't have to buy separate admission to CPS as well. This is good to know because we will likely have some of my boys friends tag along on a trip or two this summer. I am still going to call the park to verify, suppose it just depends on who you talk to. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  2. Interesting. I even called CP about this issue last summer because I wasn't sure my wife would get at least 4 visits in between the the two parks and was told no. It ended up getting her a platinum pass so she wouldn't have to wait outside for us.
  3. Is that just on designated "Bring a Friend" days or any day? I don't see anything about ERT in the FAQs this year yet.
  4. Unfortunately no, your friend cannot get early entry. Using an old gold pass is fraud and could easily get you and your friend kicked out or worse. Not recommended at all.
  5. What they will do is start shutting down shops, food stands, carts and such. You will still be able to eat and drink just slimmer choices. Keep in mind being chilly or wet is fine, being chilly AND wet is rather unpleasant. NOAA is now calling for a high of 55F, if it falls any further or wind speed picks up I would seriously think twice about it especially if you are buying a ticket versus a pass.
  6. I have no idea the revenue Christian concerts bring in but the fact that CP bothers to build the venue in the SC lot each year indicates to me it is profitable on some level. KI could do the same but they also have a lot of land to work with. So the question becomes is that exact parcel that important to ride expansion to tear out the venue? I have never been in it but is it any worse than a parking lot?
  7. At least in the past you did need to go to your home park to replace a physical plastic card. My boys and my home park is KI but wife's is CP. I was able to renew them all on the CP site. Was going to do KI but with the tax promotion it saved about $60 even with the $10 more for CP FunPix. The receipt and voucher clearly stated to keep my old cards as they are now updated. Progress.
  8. Do you denigrate other people calling them stupid and morons all day?
  9. I don't believe it for a minute. I don't believe it is members of this forum being unkind.
  10. In case you haven't renewed your platinum passes yet, If you renew through the CP site by midnight tonight CP will pick up the sales tax. That actually puts the Platinum renewal cost on par with the fall sale price. If you are renewing the photos roll over and with the ability to add the pass to your phone app, there is less risk in having a different home park if you loose the card than in the past.
  11. SFSTL ran American Thunder. One train only for maintenance reasons, I think it only has two so two may be possible for Mr. T. My boys rode AT at 34F. But FUN is not SIX.
  12. In my opinion base layer clothing should not be any different than when it is 98F and sunny. #1 Outdoorsman Rule: Cotton Kills So: 1. Wool socks. Wool cannot hold nearly as much water as cotton so keep your feet dryer. Your feet stay warmer in cold and cooler in the heat with wool. Additionally you can get several days wear out of them without the stink. 2. Synthetic clothing even underwear. Drys much quicker than cotton. Some even wear wool underwear but I haven't gone that far yet. Wear jeans at your own peril. We all wear cargo shorts anyway. Amirite? 3. Cheap Dollar Store poncho in pocket. Maybe a rain jacket if you don't mind lugging it around. Maybe stash a wool sweater in car/locker. 4. Footwear: Trail Runners. Ones that are designed for hiking/backpacking and are leather or synthetic and are designed with excellent drainage are best. Perfect for water rides as well. Most backpackers have moved to this type of shoe unless they are carrying extremely heavy packs or are on very technical trails. 5. Wide brimmed hat. Helps keep water out of eyes, synthetic floppy hat can fold up and go in cargo shorts on rides. Pricey but good sources: Duluth Trading Co., REI, Cabellas, Bass Pro etc. I tend to find Dick's all about fashion over function.
  13. ^^ Very true. Last year we opened and closed SC/CP one day and my Mio registered 10.1 miles and that was all walking as I didn't do a single ride that day. Back at SFSTL when my mom would go to the water park with us it was actually shorter for her when I just got the car and picked her up close to the entrance.
  14. Another 18 months and hopefully I will have my very own private valet service. (16 year old)
  15. Good to see you and everyone else. Kind of took a Zelda break along with trying to cut back in my leisure online time. Getting sucked back into the Vortex again the past few days. Been fun.
  16. I have never upgraded but have thought about it a couple of times. If I wanted to do it sometime what would be the proper procedure? Pick a live attendent lane at the toll booths? Also since i have never really paid attendtion to the pricing, what would the upgrade cost be if you already are a pass holder?
  17. I joined KIC June of last year and I think the two major themes/rules I came away with at that time were: 1. Don't eat at KI for the first couple of weeks. 2. Don't visit Cedar Point opening day. Should have no problem adhering to 2, but would like to make it in this weekend if we can swing it. On one hand I know very well proper food handling is an extremely important health and safety issue and there is no excuse for messin it up. But it must be extremely difficult to staff up and train an operation like this especially when the first few weeks are only weekend employment and the crowds are large. No ramp up, just 100% full on crowds. And yet again one only needs to review our infamous Chipotle thread to see the dire consequences of screwing it up.
  18. I think you can upgrade for the day, but not the whole season.
  19. ^Reminds me of college. "Yuk! My mouth tastes terrible. Give me another beer."
  20. What is really scary is when you meet an enthusiast that knows the names of all the engineers that work at said companies and where they worked prior. Just slowly start backing away. The only name i know is that Alan Shicke (or whatever) from RMC because everyone thinks he is up there with Einstein and Jesus and can't shut up about him.
  21. Lines are non-existent right now.
  22. At the end there is a "Archeological Dig" the kids can "excavate" a dinosaur bone which many find fun. (Associate burying bone in sand). Once a year thing for us maybe, haven't even bothered with the one at CP. It is nice getting some shade and escaping the overly loud music but is a long walk.
  23. What everyone else said. Your printout should get you in the park one time. If there is a long line out the door of SP Processing just check back around lunch or later and it should be better. Also your printouts *should* get you past the parking tollbooths, but last year there were some reports the system wouldn't let some people in. Don't get mad, just pay for parking, keep your receipt and take it to Guest Services and they will issue a refund.
  24. Yep I am pretty much there myself but can still control it with strict diet at this point. Although KI doesn't have as much detailed info up on the new site as the old one had, I think you may be able to store it at FA along with any meds one needs. I kind wanted to avoid this route as CF already gives my boys a huge accommodation already but I need to stop at GS on the way in anyway. I just don't like being "that guy" that walks in asking for exceptions to all the rules. What kind of snacks do you bring? I am really trying to back down from the artificial sweeteners as well as there is some debate if they still cause an insulin response.
