  1. Man! What happened after you moved them to the bottom?
  2. Anything is possible. However, that wouldn`t fit in with the theme of Flight of Fear very well.
  3. Fropm the history section on our site (found here: https://kicentral.com/parkhistory/historical-facts/)
  4. My wife is currently 28 weeks pregnant with our second child. So she will not be able to ride anything until around the end of July/August (they advise you to wait six weeks after giving birth to resume normal activities. As others have said, the Eiffel Tower, and KI&MVRR are her staples. She also enjoys the shows and we utilize the meal plan. When my wife was pregnant with our first, we had just found out we were expecting, and we were going on a trip to Disneyland after my cousin`s wedding in Pheonix, AZ. She couldn`t ride all the rides, but still enjoyed the visit. So now she can take our son to Planet Snoopy while I go hop on a coaster.
  5. Its little improvements/restorations like this that make Kings Island special. Hopefully they continue to update things like this. I am excited that they have spent the time, money and energy to make this happen! Truly a wise investment that will help create memories for scores of Cincinnatians and tourists alike!
  6. Most have watched the Youtube video of "Beast Unleashed", a non official Giga concept making its way across the internet. This spawned a wave of excitement on social media, the enthusiast community, and even made local news. Kings Island fans believed, and some still believe, the park will be getting "Beast Unleashed" in the next season or two. This of course, was just an excellent fan made concept that was not associated with the park. In this latest podcast we talk with KIC Member RuthlessAirtime who was the creator of "Beast Unleashed". Before listening to the podcast, please watch the video if you have not already done so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV5UyTOezvY https://kicentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/KIC-Podcast-5.mp3
  7. So does the city own the land that the parking lots sit on?
  8. Fixed the original link. We renamed the page that the shop was on last night to gear instead. Here is the link again in case you need it: https://kicentral.com/gear/
  9. I wonder if they will get some of the parking revenue from the stadium.
  10. With them purchasing the land, they clearly see value in this park that they once thought about selling. It is one of the few Cedar Fair parks I have yet to visit (Michigan`s Adventure and Valleyfair being the other two I have yet to visit).
  11. The Nickelodeon Celebration Parade started out in Planet Snoopy, (back by what the back of house gates that are now near Surf Dog. The parade then continued in front of Blue Ice Cream, in front of Chik Fil A and the Eiffel Tower. It continued into Coney Mall, and stayed on the side of the midway closest to Racer. It then went off stage at the gate between Racer and Zephyr. It would then repeat in reverse the next time it was performed.
  12. Keep in mind that this event will only be at Kings Island for a limited time (It will also run at Kings Dominion at the same time). Definitely a step in the right direction.
  13. And that is what Cedar Fair has mentioned time and time again on their conference calls. They want to create a sense of urgency to give people a reason to visit the park multiple times. Especially when things like Haunt and Winterfest aren`t going on.
  14. I got the chance to ride it on Thursday for media day as part of my job . It is definitely a fun ride. It has just enough intensity, but isn`t too intense. As the others have said, the hang time is wonderful. I don`t know if I have experienced hang time like that on a vertical loop on any other coaster. There are also several nice pops of air time. The theming is very well done, and the queue area gives you a nice view of the ride. It is also nice to the the Flying Scooters that once graced Kings Island and Coney Island once again entertaining guests. I highly recommend a visit to Carowinds to check out this ride. Sadly, I still have not experienced Fury 325. But my wife and I are planning to try and hit up this park later this year. She can`t ride coasters at the moment as we are expecting our second baby in June.
  15. I do not think that the pedestals were out dated. If true that they are going, I will be a little disappointed. They added a sense of elegance and grandeur to the fountains that I thought was lacking at both Kings Dominion and Canda`s Wonderland`s fountains.
  16. I would say that removing the Reds HoF Grille for this new eatery actually enhances the theme of Rivertown. I`m kind of disappointed that Reds HoF grille is leaving though.
  17. They did paint the rails of Diamondback in the splash down area. I think it was prior to the start of last season. It went from just before the splash down to the track at the top, right before the final brake run.
  18. I believe, and Shaggy can back me up on this, that the decision was made to add to the water park instead, due to recent additions down at Kentucky Kingdom. Keep in mind that 1997 is when they added the wave pool, to what was then known as Water Works. That was the first major addition to the water park, since they added Rushing River in 1990, the second season for Water Works, which opened in 1989.
  19. The park wants to keep International Street a surprise until the park opens. We are respecting the park`s wishes on this. No links to photos, or actual photos will be allowed.
  20. I think this is a nice addition to Sunlite Water Adventure. I actually had known for a while that this was coming. Last year, they had the diving boards closed all year, due to state regulations, and there were many people sad that they were closed. At one point in time, I think that they did have high diving boards, but those have long since been gone. This will replace the Pipeline Plunge water slide, which has been problematic the last few years. It was closed for several weeks last season. This new attraction will be popular across a wider demographic, and allows diving boards to return to Coney. Not many water parks at the major chains have diving boards, so it is definitely unique, and gives it more of a community swimming pool feel.
  21. And as stated with another newspaper that picked up this story recently, the video shown with the construction on International Street appears to be from when the park first announced the renovation work to International Street.
  22. I have been once, when Potter was just at Islands of Adventure and not at the Studios park. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride is absolutely amazing. Well worth a visit. I can`t wait to check out this new coaster as well as the Harry Potter stuff at the Studios park.
  23. Definitely a nice article and read. I have literally spent more than half of my life (wow, that is crazy to think about), working at Coney Island, that doesn`t have the biggest or tallest coaster out there. We have one small coaster. Many people say that I am nuts for working here so long, but I love the little park and the thought that many locals may come out and experience their first coaster at Coney, and one day may have the same interest in amusement parks that has kept me working at Coney. Its hard to believe that I am entering my 18th season working at Coney (I am 34 years old, so over half of my life I have worked at Coney in the summers, starting when I was 17. I still remember one of the things that my manager told me towards the end of a long, hot day my first season when I was working the Scrambler. He asked me if I was having fun, and I kind of just said, yeah, I guess. He then said, well look at all the small kids that are riding your ride. Look at their smiling faces and all the excitement that you are helping them have. That has stuck with me through these years, and is part of the reason why I keep coming back. I have so much fun working at Coney (even though it is my second job). I don`t really even view it as a job.
  24. Maybe the ride was a maintenance nightmare? Or ridership had decreased to a point where they couldn`t justify the costs of upkeep. Or they have an idea for a new attraction and that was the best location for it. I am sure that they will replace it with something eventually. That area of the park is right by the main entrance area, so I am sure they will do something with that area.
  25. Those do look very nice. Hard to tell what building they are near.
