I think something like Blazing Fury at Dollywood or Black Diamond at Knoebels are both great examples of a dark ride that KI could use. We aren't ever getting something like Rise or Spider-man.

2023 General Kings Island Discussion

Does this mean we no longer have Chef Major? -
Now that Diamondback is being repainted, Banshee should be next on the list. I do figure they will wait until they add something new into Action Zone to bundle it in with other improvements. Most of the other rides have gotten repainted recently though. The Bat's paint job has help up better than Banshee's has considering they were painted essentially the same time.

Season pass holder’s guide to Fun Perks
Rivertown Rider replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I do like the points total idea. I also like the idea of incentivizing park purchases such as merchandise. The BOGO Cotton Candy is nice but I'd rather have something like a 20% off coupon on merch. -

I completely agree, it will be interesting to see what else could come back. I could definitely see a reimagined Phantom Theater coming back. As far as the other flats historically in the park, I doubt we would ever see something like Flight Commander come back and rides like The Rotor and Halley's Comet (Round-Up) aren't really around much anymore. Zamperla makes a version of Cuddle Up (they call theirs Demolition Derby). While similar to the Teacups it also has elements of the Whip. A great example of this is Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney's Hollywood Studios. A ride like that would be great for the park and we already know how the chain likes to work with Zamperla. Chance is still around and while they don't make the same version of Wheel of Fortune (Chance Trabant) they do make similar models. Carowinds is installing a Trabant ride as part of their new area this year. -
With Joyland Park in Texas closing hopefully Cedar Fair picks up some of the flats. https://irmrides.com/product-tag/joyland/ The Musik Express is a Mack and would be a nice pick up for the chain. Hopefully Cedar Fair already picked up the Trabant, Tilt-a-Whirl, and the Eyerly Spider (more to use for parts for the various Eyerly Monster versions in the chain).

That's about 90% more trees than Carowinds has.

From the images in the WKRC article, I am really curious what is going on in front of the storage building immediately behind the Freestyle location. While the park hasn't hinted at a third ride, this area doesn't match up with anything in the original concept art. It wouldn't make sense for the AE exit to go clear over there and the exit wasn't going that far over in the original concept art and the markers look like more than just a regular exit path.

It was very much prime real estate to never be open, and I do think the Ice Cream idea is a great one.

I would love to see Hugo's somewhere in the park as well. It would be nice to have some different food options in the park like the calzones. If the Sweet Tooth location is coming back and put in the Subway location, I would prefer they just do the Ice Cream there instead of the Ice Scream Zone beside Banshee to help reduce the bottleneck in that area beside Banshee. I doubt they would do it but just tear down the Ice Scream Zone location and put another indoor Coke Freestyle location there to spread out the crowds off the Action Zone midway.

Winter Chill Out 2023

I'm sad to see Mac Shack go away. That was one of our favorites at CP. -

My wife and I will be there as well.

I do wonder what they are doing with the stripped basketball game. While that game generally gets pretty good business, I am curious if they would be better off just using the one down across from Zephyr (which has seemed to be open less the last couple years) as there are fewer bottlenecks there compared to this one. With The Racer exit, traffic coming from Marketplace, as well as the additional foot traffic that will be coming to and from Adventure Port that is a lot of traffic that would have to dodge errant basketballs. While you could make the case that foot traffic would be better for the game's success, it is also going to stick out like a sore thumb when everything else around it is going to well themed.

Sorry I was referring to the Carnival games storage building directly behind the Coke Marketplace.

I agree that I don't see us getting Psycho Mouse. When CGA closes, I think Psycho Mouse will become a parts donor to the same models at Valleyfair and Michigan's Adventure. I could eventually see us getting one of the Zamperla Wild Mouse models though. You could easily theme it to Bavarian Beetle.

Initially I had thought that they were painting the building brown but after I have looked at this more on a bigger screen, it almost looks like it is a new hole in the building as opposed to brown paint so it looks to be lighting from inside the building causing it to look brown. If it is a new hole, could they be putting in glass and turning that building into a ride operator's building or something else as the spot in the builiding in question looks well framed/sized. This spot wasn't earmarked for anything in the original concept art.

The Mystic Timbers notice doesn't look like it was filed until August 18, 2016 which would have been well after clearing had started so I think there is a still a chance we could see another notice later this year for 2023 and 2024 modifications. I could easily see the coaster not coming until '25 because Carowinds, Wonderland (I'm not counting the family coaster they are getting this year), and Knott's all received their last coaster installation before we got Orion. With CF's focus on WOF this year, potentially Dorney next year, one would think Valleyfair is due something as well in the next couple of years (although I could see them getting Railblazer eventually when CGA closes). I will be very curious to see what is going on with the Timberwolf site and if anything happens with the old Son of Beast station. I know a lot of people think The Vortex site is the most likely area but I think that Action Zone needs it more than The Vortex spot does. AZ still has a lot of the Paramount feel to it (aside from Banshee and it's plaza area). Getting rid of Timberwolf and the SOB station would allow them to potentially build a shorter path to The Bat and an additional coaster would cause people to stay in that area of the park longer (which takes some strain off Rivertown and Area 72). With them taking out the other three upcharge attractions (the old Go Karts, Dinos, and Slingshot) it isn't that crazy to think of Skyflyer going as well since it is nearing 30 years of age. With Adventure Port being added there are finally some family rides in that area of the park besides VF, Congo, and The Bat but Action Zone needs some love and re-theme in the worst way. As far as the coaster type I do love the idea of a Mack ride likes Time Traveler or Copperhead. They both have the same capacity but a Time Traveler like ride would give the park a unique type ride and the spinning isn't super intense. A different manufacturer gives a different feel since they have lost some manufacturer uniqueness with Firehawk and Vortex leaving. I know other places have mentioned a Velocicoaster type ride but I don't know that CF wants to work with Intamin anymore. But any of those ride types (TT, CS, or Veloci) would be fantastic additions to the park. As far as B&M you can't discount that CSF is closer to KI than anywhere else and B&Ms are super popular (both here and elsewhere).

Hersheypark Announcement

Hershey has removed their Whip. It will be interesting to see if it ends up being sold somewhere else.
