Dismantling Geauga Lake...
flightoffear1996 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This park was actually pretty fun when I turn around and look at it. It had the cool classic coasters and some modernized coasters and same with the flats. -
I think FearFest should be a 16 and over event only.

Geauga Lake Petition

I argee with most of what you say PKIMike but the main problem with your view is that Aurora is a really small town (not sure on the excat working force population) but those 50 families may have plenty of impact on the economy. Another thing is that with families losing there jobs is that kids can no longer spend money and loosely as they once did. It doen't just impact the time your jobless either will effect you for years down the road. -
Well to avoid that you can just have the the entrace off main midway where they wrist band would be checked then the main line were the bulk of it would be off to the side in an area and have one person patroling it.

At Coney do you have to pay extra money per ride?
-
I for one an actually glad that the Halloween Haunt will be paid for next year. I am also fall in the bracket I am stilling living at home and making pretty decent money and really don't need to worry about if 20 or 30 will break the bank on not. I think tehy should have the rides open to everyone and the Hautned Areas are only for people with a wrist band.

That is a really nice site and has lots of information about the park. I look for it to grow strongly and has a great overall feeling to the site. Nice job.

I would like to go up to Cedar Point again but I am debating if its worth my time and money to go to the park on a weekend. Like leave early Saturday morning and come back Sunday around 10 or so but that 4 hour drive seems like a long way for me.
-
That seems dumb to me to open and then close the park again. Why just not force the people going to fearfest have a wrist band or something alond those lines. I wonder if they close the park if you can stay in the parking lot to avoid having to pay for parking. I guess these are all issues that the uper mangament will have to deciede in the coming months.

So basiclly the end of August will be the last free days for park operations next year?

Geauga Lake Petition
flightoffear1996 replied to ClevelandRocks10's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I am sorry but I don't think a petition is going to save the park so a few people can go to the park a few times a year. The park is gone and a move I beleive was a good one. -

flightoffear1996 replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Coming Attractions
Yea I always hate walking threw that area of hte park because alot of times all the sudden people will stop in be start looking at that ride. Maybe they should build some grand stands across the midway so people can watch. -
Geauga Lake rides side to close.
flightoffear1996 replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Wait a second this may seem out of reach or stupid but they never said the park wuld be closing for good at least I don't think. They may just maybe taking alot of extra time to restore the family parkt thta it once was. While I really doubt what I just said there is always that chance for those of you who love the park. -
Geauga Lake rides side to close.

Cedar Fair Entertainment Company announced today that Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom in Aurora, Ohio, will become exclusively a water park attraction beginning with the 2008 season. “After four years of operating Geauga Lake as a combined water park/amusement park attraction, we have concluded that its future should be entirely as a water park,” said Dick Kinzel, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. “Visiting Geauga Lake is a 119-year-old tradition in northeastern Ohio. That tradition will continue, but in a new and exciting way.” “Geauga Lake’s Wildwater Kingdom has been recognized as one of the finest water parks in the country,” Kinzel said. “Over the past three seasons, we have invested approximately $25 million to create and develop the premiere water park in northeastern Ohio. Since its opening in 2005, Wildwater Kingdom has been the park’s highest rated attribute.” Geauga Lake’s Wildwater Kingdom attractions will include Tidal Wave Bay, a 30,000 square-foot wave pool featuring seven different types of wave patterns; Liquid Lightning, a 60-foot-tall tornado slide; Thunder Falls, Ohio’s tallest water slide complex; an activity pool; an action river; and a multi-story play structure. The park will also provide a catering facility and picnic pavilions for group outings and poolside cabanas will be made available for daily rental. I guess its offical. -
^ Maybe if they refurbish the seats.
-
^ LOL wow I would hate to ride the worse one. Those seats hurt bad. I did like how it seemed the building were moving though.

Rumor About Kings Dominion
flightoffear1996 replied to AdventureExpresser's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yea I know Sea World is gone but I was just wondering what section of the park it was now. Is GL water park any good I didn't visit that because I was disapointed in the dry side. Wouldn't it be easier to move the water park over to the dry side than move some really old wooden coasters over to the wet side of the park? -
I don't think anyone could build KI in RCT3 because of the lag. YOu can have the best machine and it would still lag its just the way that the game is programed. That park was being built in sections and the last I saw International Street was done and they were wroking on Action Zone. I would like to see the inverted coaster back by X Base as well. Something really futurristic and lots of inversions. I would also have an Intmain hyper coaster and with theose 2 addition KI would be back in action as my fav. park.
-
Yea I wonder how come Kings Island really doesn't have a transport ride in the main park. The Sky Ride at Cedar Point is sweet when you really want to ride Raptor and are at the wrong end. I would like to see soemthing at KI that would stop at Action Zone Coney Mall River Town, Boomerrang bay and then kiddie land. LIke a mini light rail or something. I notice alot of KIs ride seemed more spread out that say Cedar Point.

Yea I am assuming they pay to rent it out. Ticket sales and parking sales plus food. I have been on P&G day and its just as crowded as any other day. If you have more mature empoyees that means you got to have the more money to pay them. If your say 20 years old like me it wouldn't be worth my time to go in for anything less than $11 an hour. Of couse with that you can give them more respobility and tighter secutriy with the loose arctiles and probaly a faster dispatch time which leads to a safer park and in most cases happier guest. However the thing is when your going to try and higher older employess there really seems to be not much oppertiny for advancement in the field of ride operator (please correct me if I am wrong) so higher starting pay would be a must. Plus being only a seasonal job it probaly has a higher turnover rate which means someone is likely getting trained at all times and also would be a nussaince if you were trying to support your family on a seasonal job. There is many things to overcome when you say they need to have more mature workers. -Joe-
