I don't think they will get rid of the nightly fireworks. They've been doing fireworks for like ever! I could see them closing Orion down due to fireworks kinda like The Beast.

I might just be seeing things, but it looks like they are getting something out of the back of a semi truck.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I don't see Wicked Twister coming to KI. In fact, if CP removes it, they'll probably scrap it. CF hasn't really relocated coasters that much since the Kinzel era. -
I voted for other because I didn't know what to vote for.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to THE_BEASTmaster's topic in Kings Island
I consider the topper track coasters wooden coasters, but in a new design. Mainly because the track is a few wood boards with a steel slab on top. The Ibox track is 100% steel. -
Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season

It's harder for me to accept even though I hate the ride because I'm not used to parks removing a coaster the same offseason they are building a new coaster. That also makes me wonder if they'll actually wait until Orion is completed to start tearing down Vortex or if they'll leave it SBNO next season and start dismantling it at the end of next season. -
Be prepared because there will probably be a mad dash back to Orion just like there was for Steel Vengeance. Likely even on pass preview as well! I hope they handle the crowd well. In the Coaster Studios vlog for Copperhead Strike's pass preview, the security team did very well with crowd control!

I wonder if they'll use that backstage area for overflow queue for Orion on opening weekend.

So what does everyone think of a possible name for a replacement if part of Coney Mall or Rivertown? Or maybe tie it in with BLSC and make that area between Coney Mall and Rivertown its own area. Like a highway themed area or something.

This doesn't have anything to do with Orion, but with cranes. Fun fact: the person who did the crane for WindSeeker and Invertigo used to go to my church and we knew him well! His name is Keith Irwin.

Clifford usually looks like this. The crane parked at KI doesn't currently have that on it. Source: https://images.app.goo.gl/J9N4MW8NMfVrR7ABA

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I found this old video of Maverick's animation! I love how the person here put the wild west song to the POV. If KI were to get a multi launch coaster either by Mack or Intamin in The Vortex area and theme it to Rivertown, I would love to see Kings Island do something similar with the animation. -

I feel like we might get something there sooner rather than later because I think having nothing there will be a major eye sore so I think KI will be looking at wanting to fill that gap as soon as possible. But it all depends on what corporate says. But I think it would be a huge missed opportunity to not put a large coaster there that is super photogenic like Vortex was. -

I just want KI's version of Maverick or Steel Vengeance! Even though it's unlikely CF will work with Intamin again. -
I think if it's a forbidden frontier type thing, it'll come earlier than 2023.

I drove by the park on I-71 today and saw the top of the first lift piece rising up in the distance! The coaster is going to look beautiful from the skyline!

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to THE_BEASTmaster's topic in Kings Island
Something to keep in mind: Thunder Road was removed in 2015 and Copperhead Strike didn't open until 2019. Skyrider closed in 2014 and Yukon Striker didn't open until 2019. I do hope that something fills The Vortex plot of land sooner rather than later, but I wouldn't get your hopes up since we are getting Orion next year. Also, some people on other forum sites brought up the idea of something like Forbidden Frontier at Cedar Point. -

I don't think they would give a last rides event if they weren't going to take it down. -

I would like to see Vortex's station become a haunted house for Haunt. -

Yes, I don't think we'll be getting a coaster in 2021, but I could see something big replacing it sooner rather than later. 2022 at the earliest. The reason why I say sooner is because I think having nothing there will be a major eyesore so I'm sure Kings Island will want to fill that gap as soon as possible. My thoughts are that they won't start tearing it down until after Orion is completed or close to completed. So they might be tearing it down during parts of the beginning of the season. Here is a good timeline prediction if a coaster is coming in 2022 which I don't think is super likely: Winter/spring of 2020: Orion is completed and they start removing Vortex. Orion opens to rave reviews in April. Late Summer/Early fall 2020: mysterious markers start showing up around The Vortex plot of land Spring 2021: Land clearing begins in the former Vortex plot of land Late Spring/early summer 2021: footers start being poured Summer 2021: Kings Island starts a teaser campaign: August 2021: Kings Island holds a big announcement event (Similar to Orion's) Late August/September 2021: vertical construction begins Spring 2022: The new coaster opens with rave reviews. What type of coaster? My guess is an RMC woodie, but I could see a Mack multi launch. -
**DOUBLE POST** I found this video on YouTube of the queue for Manta at SeaWorld Orlando and this is the definition of an indoor queue! Obviously Cedar Fair probably wouldn't do a queue line on this level since they don't really do animals, but I would love to see a Sea creature themed coaster in the Cedar Fair chain with maybe an indoor queue like this, but with some special projections to make it look like an aquarium.
-
I don't think this looks too enclosed. It looks like just a roof over the queue line like Mystic Timbers and Copperhead Strike. Source:
