My girlfriend's three-year-old granddaughter can't wait to see the "Purple Monster Show" when it opens in the Kings Island Theater on the 27th.

Because I'm me, and I really have to overdo visually that which I can't otherwise easily articulate, I give you:

I think, if it hasn't been changed, it goes from "KIC Tourist" to "KIC Local," etc., right up until you can simply name your own rank. I think if you play around with the members filter, you might be able to detect at which level each "rank" is awarded. I find it kind of fun, and a way to gauge how much time and energy KIC fans have devoted to the fabric of the forums.

Great points, but one could apply the same argument for scramblers, troikas, and flying scooters.

I actually had a gaggle of mixed geese stop by my back porch occasionally when I lived in Landen. These were Canada and greylag geese, sometimes accompanied by other anseriformes like mallard ducks. They had been spoiled by the previous occupants, who must have fed them a lot, because they would cautiously waddle up to our patio and, once they realized they weren't getting fed, would simply lay down and tuck their bills into their feathers and sleep. Because of this, I developed a love for the species, but I understand how they can annoy some.

Is Vekoma really that bad?
Thrill_Biscuit replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I just love the name of the company; it sounds like a cruise missile manufacturer. On the likability front, Invertigo and FAAC are the only two I'm aware of that I've ever ridden in my life, so I can really only sit on the fence and observe. -
LOL maybe, if they'll let me get away with it!

Oh, there will be cannons! There wi-hi-hi-hi-hilll be cannons! Mwa ha ha!

There is an Army Reserve center directly behind the park. I don't think they have a landing pad there or not. 39.347201, -84.245793

Wanted to share a video I created over the weekend, after spending a couple of weekends at the park with my girlfriend and her kids and grandkids (shh... we're only in our mid 40s) I blended in some footage from across the last two seasons, and shared it to Facebook and YouTube, to convey to friends and family all across the country the "feels" of visiting our beloved park. Enjoy! (More coming after I pick up my 4K camera next month, when things get into full swing!)

Rhymes with "Lump." My girlfriend told me that Diamondback splashdown is gone (again?) Did I miss something this year?

The lights were on all night, at least every time I came by to film them. So happy to see them back!

IT seems like it's time to modernize to submersible LED fountain lighting anyway, if the decision makers so desire. I can think of some practical uses for drones as it relates to scaring away Canada geese.

Instrumental music returns to International Street
Thrill_Biscuit replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
The lights in the Royal Fountains came on briefly on Saturday night, and it blended beautifully with the Rhapsody in Blue playing over I-Street. Then they suddenly cut off, only to be lit by the spots atop International Restaurant-ish place thingy (don't know what that is called now). Someone told me there's an electric beam that is supposed to cut out the lights in case someone tries jumping into the fountains, and that the Canada geese keep moving around in it. If true... smart! If not, well, anyway the music is gorgeous! -
Instrumental music returns to International Street
Thrill_Biscuit replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
I actually (and very politely) stopped by Mr. Scheid and his entourage in Coney Mall and said "Guys, the music on International Street: Huge WIN! Excellent move! Love it!" and the gentleman who was with him, who was wearing a polo shirt and had brown hair (I didn't read his name tag) took off his sunglasses, looked me in the eye and said "Thank you! Welcome back!" Huge win! So very glad to have it back! I heard John Williams' Theme from E.T.: The Extraterrestrial while looking at Wayne's glass creations, and I was transformed back to when I was a kid, blown away by the majesty of it all. Awesome. Just awesome. A million times- 49 replies

Great advice... for ALL coasters. Roller coasters are so much more enjoyable when I don't have to worry about losing stuff.

Beast is a virtually hand-crafted piece of artwork, forged in the pre-AutoCAD days of super-smart design and engineering. It has legendary mystique (no pun intended) that makes it a wow whether it has straightaways, airtime hills, s-curves or not. It is not a cookie-cut design; it's as unique and individual as any one of the other marquee coasters out there. We're fortunate to have it as part of the park we love, and I for one welcome Mystic Timbers to the KI coaster family as an equal among all the others in this regard: it has its own personality - its own story to tell as you experience what it has to offer.

What's the craziest thing you've seen at KI?
Thrill_Biscuit replied to KatieF's topic in Kings Island
Last season, I was blasting away on the red and white canons (geysers) at White Water Canyon, when suddenly I found myself being bear-hugged by a well-soaked, 300-lb, 6'8" bearded guy who lifted me off the ground and grunted, "now you're soaked, too!" He then set me down, shook my hand and walked off with the rest of his family, all of us laughing it all off. Perfect stranger, never saw the guy again. These are the moments that make Kings Island so memorable.- 51 replies

Beautiful story! That is the nicest photo of the park that I've seen in my entire 45 years of being a Kings Island fan! My family and I have been going since I was 3, and it never gets old or boring!

When you move into Island Club because it has a view of the park, and you start designing your dining room accordingly... The tower decal I got at Menard's. I'm having photos of Banshee and Diamondback from last season blown up into box-canvas paintings at FedEx Office, and I'm going to hang them on either side of the mirror. We also have candles whose fragrances are like those in the park during the summer. When family comes over this season, I want them to feel the excitement of being near the park the night before. Still a work in progress, but a dream-come-true. Yeah, big fan here.

Had to read through the whole thread just to make sure we didn't need to break out The Vortex song! The "smiling face" of Vortex has become such an inseparable part of the Kings Island landscape, removing it would have the same effect, at least for me, of removing the Eiffel Tower. To the novice eye, it has a timeless look to it. Perennial need-of-paint-job aside, the ride never seems to look 'dated.' I enjoyed it many times last season, mostly because I've learned when to "brace." To another 30 years!

Really taking shape. It will take some getting used to for me, to see all that wonderful coastery-ness while looking in that direction from the tower.

"Man charged with raping 13-year-old at Kings Island"
Thrill_Biscuit replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
The danger is everywhere. This happens because predators are sharply "skilled" at what they do, and they apparently possess a sick passion for their crime that overrides any fear of capture or punishment. They're masters of deception, and are generally convinced (or will try to convince you), after they're caught, that they are "doing nothing wrong." This is what we face in the struggle to protect our kids.
