  1. While driving home from church last night, we noticed that the Eiffel Tower was lit up the way it used to be (flood lights). It really looked nice compared to just being washed in a single color with a spotlight...not to mention being.... just dark. Was this for some special occasion, or are they going back to lighting the tower this way?
  2. Where were the ("Der") Spinnen Keggers? I seem to remember them being where Viking Fury is now... but it's been 30 years since I last rode them (GE Day way back in 1980).
  3. In every show, it is very clear where the "boss" is working/ training at. Thanks, Browntggrr, I guess I always miss that part; now that I think about it, I usually watch that show 'piecemeal' while surfing through channels. It just seemed to me like they left out where the headquarters are when they do the big 'reveal'.
  4. If they do the show in typical fashion, viewers across the nation won't know one GWL from another, and won't know whether they're looking at the one in Mason, or the one in Grapevine, Texas. They seem to keep the geography out of the script. When they did the Roto Rooter episode, if you didn't know better, you'd have thought everyone flew into Des Moines, Iowa, rather than into Cincinnati.
  5. Brilliant idea, RingMaster!!! Maybe this can be an enclosed, modified Zamperla Balloon Ride, using large LED-wall technology to "trasport" riders to different parts of the world as they pass by... very interesting...
  6. Awesome!!! It's like Tumblebug-meets-Wild Mouse-meets-Space Mountain-meets-The Detroit Renaissance Center!!! I'd love something like that! Great post, screamingnight!
  7. ^überWIN!!! LOL2! KIC's got talent! -Tb, who would love to see roller coasters in libraries!
  8. I have two Kings Island ash trays from about 1974; both of which my wife bought at Brown's Market Antiques in Hamilton before the start of the 2009 season. I had them on KIC, but the post was apparently archived. They are the size and shape of medium-sized dinner plates, and have little 1/2-inch tiles of different colors going around a printed picture of the park in the center (complete with the Sky Ride). If I can find what i did with the pictures, I'll post them back on here; they were really well-preserved (never used as ash trays, but more as display plates it seems). I also have a yellow "Gilligan" style hat from Paramount's Kings Island, circa 2003, two Diamondback "first rider" shirts that have never been worn (I was actually like, rider number 5200), and an "Italian Job Stunt Coaster" shirt from 2005, and a plastic photo "viewer" key chain from last season.
  9. I think the owners of this site are allowed to control content in any way they want to, and we as members are free to go elsewhere if we don't like the constraints.
  10. I think it's much more fun to speculate and debate possibilities than to peek under the tent and spoil the surprise. ^^ @Terpy - I agree. You couldn't have couched that any more clearly.
  11. Ah, good old Clara Pellar! Thanks for stoking a fond memory of one of the funniest commercials of all time! ...at least they got their pickle ; )
  12. The Royal Fountains are one of the signature attractions that make visits to Kings Island so memorable. They are a visual treat (especially when the 'right' music is playing over the loudspeakers). I love your pictures of them, especially the nighttime shots!
  13. I think maybe they were in a rush to capitalize on the fast-growing SpongeBob phenomenon, which was only 3 years old when this went into production. It's "easier" (i.e., "computers do all the work") to produce the 3D effect in a CGI environment where eye-offset angles can be mathematically formulated between channels. Converting traditional 2-D animation requires more work to assign depth-effect regions to each field event, which takes more time, and still only creates a 'paper-cutout-over-flat-background' illusion like in a Viewmaster, which may or may not have been considered suitable for such an immersive ride...?
  14. life is an hour long wait in line for a three-minute ride.

  15. Of course, some rides are just too tall for such a stunt!
  16. Great pictures, HTCO! I especially like the one with the cute amphibious creature chillin' on the theming, and of the awesome plantlife.
  17. Coney. It's where I spent entire days back in the ... ancient days. I have a particular fondness for that area of the park, because I would spend whole days among Zodiac, Giant Slide, Monster, repeat...
  18. Wait. The White House "disapproves of using the President's name and likeness for commercial purposes". Did anyone tell that to the American Broadcasting Company, whose commercial, money-making enterprise called "The View," used his name and likeness to promote their show many, many times before he appeared last week? Anyway, the game graphic was in poor taste, and shows a decline in respect for the highest office in the land, regardless of political motives. It has no place on the midway!
  19. It kinda has that 'space-filler' feel to it; like a place-holder for a coming, more permanent attraction.
  20. Night rides are awesome... and don't worry about all the bugs flying around the floodlights; they always seem to get out of the way as the ride swings through.
  21. I think the invention of transporter beams will arrive before this economy recovers. But seriously, I wonder if cost-of-living adjustments will accompany the next big spike in fuel costs.
  22. As hard as I try, I can't see my addition...but I can see the multiplication of subdivisions over the years... But those suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth... wait for it..............[[Rock Pose!]]
  23. Although the skyline of downtown Cincinnati is obscured by the Walnut Hills and Mt. Auburn terrain, even from 275' up on a tower that is in an area that is 810' above sea level (total 1,085'), the 574' Carew Tower, down there in 482' Cincinnati (total 1,056') at an earth-curvature variant of -14', on a clear day, even with ~20(+/-) miles of terrestrial refraction you should be able to glimpse the top 15' of the venearable Cincy landmark. Needle-in-a-haystack, yes, but in theory it does seem quite possible.
  24. I wonder who they impressed with this macho act? Such manly bravery must somehow reward their desire for praise and respect. Perhaps they are sufficiently satisfied with the outcome of their deed and, with wisdom gained from the experience, can move on up to stealing lunch money or stuffing geeks into lockers. Sigh.
  25. The fountains being off seems to better fit the current music on International Street! Synchronized is the way to go: (a video by Penderghast)
