Heinz Out, Red Gold In At Cedar Fair Parks
Hank replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I used to work for Heinz. I am a ketchup lover and I know the difference between Heinz and others. Will this change stop me from buying fies at the parks? No, but I might smuggle in my own bottle of the red sauce - or a ton of those little packets! -
^ The Eiffel Tower, The Racer, or Coke? (just kidding)
-
What brand of soft drinks will KI be serving this year - Coke or Pepsi?
-
It really happened on SOB during last week's testing. (pre- April Fool's joke)
-
^ Yes, it's been great reading all of the answers to my original question. Even if the replies got a bit off the main idea, it was very worthwhile reading all the answers.
-
^ they need something different in the coaster line - not bigger, higher or faster, but a machine unlike other parks.
-
How about a new family coaster - something like the motor bike coaster?

Throughput would still be the same even if the station was longer as the "loaded" train in the station cannot move forward until the train on the circut is past the MCBR. I guess what I envision is a long enough station to handle the loading and unloading of two trains. Would this increase the hourly capacity?
-
Somewhat off the topic, but something I noticed about Raptor at Cedar Point is the lack of a longer station. Three trains are on the circuit, but two are usually in or almost in the station - and if the station was a bit longer, the second train could be unloading or unloading & loading along with the first while the third is out and about. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but my logic insists I'm headed in the right direction.

In most most humble opinion, I think they should either get rid of all the tunnels and lights so, at night, it's completely in the dark, or...enclose the whole thing and make it dark all the time (and air conditioned too!).
-
Hey, Clevelander...what loop are you out of? The loop on SOB was removed a long time ago! (just teasing - I was born in Cleveland)
-
They could demolish it, drag the trains over the debris, and the ride experience would still be smoother than it is now!
-
The trims in the "turnstile"/brake run have been there since day one, as were trims going down the lift hill. So, this still doesn't answer my questions.
-
I guess I sort of made an error in my description of turnstile. What I meant was the brake run after the first hill and drop, second hill & right turn. It looks like a turnstile to me. Now, review my questions in my original post.
-
I have never received a straight answer as to why there is a second turnstile on Beast. Is it really necessary? Is it just there as a MCBR? Maybe it's there for people who don't want to experience the first drop? (just being silly) And why does the train have to slow down there? I'd like some answers and maybe an opinion or two as to why and if that second turnstile is there.

Geauga Lake Has No New Offers for Land
Hank replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Someone, or somebody, like Kennywood (although I believe the original people no longer run it) should have bought GL before the rides were gone - maybe even the waterpark too - I think they could have made a "go" of it. But, just like Terpy, it's just my opinion and nothing more. Oh, the should haves and could haves can drive a person insane! -
There is a ride somewhere that is a stand up device.

Good thing THEY'RE not getting Demon Drop!
-
Oh, no! Are they back to calling Avatar a coaster again? Check out the website - 4 coasters in Planet Snoopy.

Article on Texas Giant Misstates Claim or...
Hank replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, I know. I think the term "for a wooden coaster" is missing. WE know what the steepest drop is - and I'm sure Six Flags is gonna get a lot of sh** about this. -

I, personally, shall call it a new, third hybrid - maybe the phrase "Texas Hybrid" will stick! -

I have a problem with people calling the "new" Texas Giant a steel coaster. The new track is steel, but the old track is steel, too - it's just that the new stuff is not wood ply with steel on top but rather all steel in place of the wood ply. It's not "tubular" like B&M track or mine train track (think Gemini) - it's flat. -
^ I can just see the sign now..."This ride not recommended for men that use extra large prophylactics"
-
Remember - the ride was inspected and cleared to open by the state. It was CF that didn't like the "experience".
