  1. While I have no problem paying alittle extra for a great event and seeing the entertainment dept. being able to do more with it, I do wish CF wouldve have decided to make these supposed upcharge changes earlier in the year. Changing it now is very underhanded and sneaky especially when having it as free to passholders the past few years and even now we dont have an answer. Im willing to bet there are going to be many upset passholders massing at the front gates the first night of Haloween Haunt. Sure upcharging and doing more for the event to make it better is great, but they shouldve announced these changes at the start of the season or when passes went on sale and if they hadn't decided by now, they should've waited till next year.
  2. Actually while both Universal parks license Nickelodeon charecters, Orlando was the only one to feature Nickelodeon studios where through the 90's a majority of live action Nick shows were filmed as well as a few live action Nick Jr. shows, most of the GAS shows, their game shows, and Slime Time Live. As of 2005 Nickelodeon shut down its filming operations on sound stages 18,19, and 21 and now does most of their filming in Burbank California, New York, and Vancouver. Nick studios is no longer based at Universal. In January 2006 the majority of the theming was removed from the "Nickelodeon back lot" area. Interpreter, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a Nickelodeon themed resort hotel outside of Walt Disney World? I can't remember if that is part of the Disney resort system as I remember it being fairly close to where we stayed in 2004, does Disney pay to license Nick entities from Viacom then?
  3. Well said Karen, as much as I love Fearfest and I have the utmost respect for KI's entertainment department, the houses really are not wheel chair accessible at all and that is very unfair.
  4. If it's really THAT much better (which I have faith it will be!) then I would have no problem paying $10-12 for it. I enjoy the event and dont have a problem shelling out 10-12 bucks for it but when season passes went on sale and I purchased mine under the impression that it was included with Park Admission I think I'd be pretty annoyed let alone how much of an uproar it would cause with the general public. Sure it be nice to deliver a little more quality for the event, I'm all for improving the event as its a lot of fun, but I think its pretty stupid for Cedar Fair to charge for it, IF they charge for it, when theyve been advertising it as free with park admission in the park maps ALL YEAR and sold passes to guests who were told and under the impression that the event was included with park admission. If CF does charge for it, they should probably announce that sooner and not later and maybe change the map advertisements!
  5. Up untill my visit yesterday they STILL were advertising Fearfest on the park maps
  6. Rail Rider once again, congratulations on the addition to your family! I'm glad to see you had such a good time, wonderful photos and slide show. Heres to many more memories to come for your family at Kings Island!
  7. Yep, dumping Nick would be a great way to get more people to visit your parks and help recover your debt load.
  8. If you read the start of the thread, the pictures were from Griffon at BGE being fabricated.
  9. DeloreanRider, just remeber, the old food employee and random guests know way more about TRTR than you and if they were there the park would be a zillion times better
  10. I would like to see the numbers for that one. Especially since Racer has double the capacity against any ride at any time. Your not taking into account how the block system works. Like DeLoreanRider said, it takes a darn good crew to get that thing moving at its best, and Marketing Express was one of those "darn good" crew members at one time.
  11. Maybe the park should make that a little better well known to their patrons especially when they advertise and market the park as a "family destination", want to have an event for older folks, make that known in your advertising, not just on some big wooden signs righ tbefore the gates AFTER you've paid for parking.
  12. Cedar Fair is a publicly traded partnership headquartered in Sandusky, Ohio, and one of the largest regional amusement-resort operators in the world, and is curently making less money than Six Flags!
  13. No, he's not saying that at all, your just trying to warp his words to make some sarcastic point. All he was saying is that both flumes were accumulating a great deal of maintenance costs and for KI it at the time it made sense to renovate the smaller one and give it new life as a re-themed kids attraction where as they saw very little future in KCKC which was experiencing dwindling ridership and could use the land as room for a new attraction. Now I'm sure since you were a 1980's foods employee if you were in command of the park it would be in much better condition today with it under your wonderful guidance but thats not how it turned out. If you check out the link to Great Adventures flume I posted earlier you can see that they rehabbed their Hydroflume in a similar fashion to our Kings Mills log flume and even that didn't hold up for long. You know, you always knock Paramount yet have nothing to compare it to. Try visiting the park and see how Debt loaded Cedar Fair is doing things, you may be surprised that Cedar Fair may not be any better than the old Paramount folks, although you haven't even visited KI under Cedar Fair's ownership, nor have you been to KI or CP in years.
  14. Even SOB contains quite a few steel supports for extra bracing, even more so now due to the state inspectors orders following last years accident so I guess since SOB has some steel supports in it by your theory its a hybrid coaster not a true wooden coaster.
  15. KCKC and the other hydroflumes werent found to be thrilling (which was the point of their design) or entertaining in comparisson to other attractions and water rides that could be foudn in their repsected parks, this lead to low ridership. As seen at KI, CP, and SFGADV.
  16. What does the thrill of an attraction have to do with it being removed or not? They werent very thrilling attractions and in their later years did not attract guests like they used do (or in some cases, never did) and usually when a ride is generally viewed as not thrilling by your general guests, that leads to low ridership. Low ridership, high maintenance costs, and being surpassed by other attractions in their own parks are what shut the hydroflumes down.
  17. Uhm, SOB wasn't the first to use that similar logo so before you claim anyone is ripping anything off do a little research before you throw your angry caps locked fury upon the internet. The 1997 movie "Anacanda" used a similar logo on their teaser posters and trailers and even the Villain at Geauga Lake (which opened the same year as SOB) has a similar logo with the eyes accomidating the letters. Weird coincidence....Anaconda was a box office flop....SOB is notorious for being an uncomfortobale ride....The Villain is notorious for being an uncomfortable ride....I just hope whoever uses that style logo next has more success.
  18. Sure does, even had the same tell tale sign of low ridership that KI's had....they closed one side of the drop. Simply put, the hydro flumes were not that thrilling of attractions.
  19. Even Six Flags Great Adventure removed their hydroflume. http://www.amusementpics.com/Hydro%20Flume.htm
  20. And to compare the maintenance done on a few horses per year to the cost of maintaining an aging log flume throughout an entire season is like comparing how good the food was in the 80's to how it is now.
