End of Geauga Lake ride section
Gordon Bombay replied to a topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^I wask asking Kennywoodude for his sources as to his revenue estimates. I didnt ask you to post an article thats already posted in the topic. Yes, we've seen it. It still doesnt change the fact GL is one of the worst performing parks wihthin the CF chain. -
End of Geauga Lake ride section
Gordon Bombay replied to a topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I repeat, whats your source? Even if your numbers are credible...just because it didnt bring in as much doesnt mean it performed poorly. The park obviously performed well enough for Cedar Fair to be content with it. Geauga Lake is the only one mentioned in the conference calls as their large problem. Geauga Lake is suffering the most, it is far too big for what it actually brings in, all the other parks met their goals. -

^Uh wheres your proof that it is, the park isnt even open for the season yet, so how can you tell if its going to bring in a profit? And just which park brings in the lowest profit? I'd love to hear where you got the information. If you listen to the latest Cedar Fair stock holder conference call, Kinzel stated how they STILL werent done cutting costs at Geauga Lake...that "more must be done" to justify the parks footprint. He didnt say that about any other park in the chain. -
Why is walking so hard?

Firehawk Construction Is Well Under Way!
Gordon Bombay replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
WCPO's website has one, but it looks just to the west of the Firehawk construction from atop the action theatre and is too far away from Son of Beast to see anything. -
I recently had about 89 pictures stolen from me and used without credit. I think Kevin Miller has a bit of explaining to do!
-
Anyone got a park map from the last season? It appears Kevin Fowler has some explaining to do cause I can testify that Bill took those pics iwth his water mark on them!

^According to Mr. Couch, the man who owns the property, he wants "to be the only RV store with tis own amusement park". But in 2006 he announced plans that it would "never operate as an amusement park again". Recently he has bought the adjoining former fantasy farm property and started to raize it. He said his current plans call for an RV campground and that all the rides will be sold off except for the Eagle and the flume since "they would costs thousands to get running again". Many people interpret this as that there will be an RV campground with those two rides. However, I doubt we ever see Americana or LL as a park again. The Lake is currently a giant mud puddle and is drained. The Flying Eagles went to Fun Spot. The Rock O Plane to Coney. The Round up to Stricker's and I believe there are a few more gone. Oh well, maybe when they start to raize it pictures will be easier to get.
-
^Uh, twas not I who took those pictures. If you catch my drift.
-
Americana's flying eagles were relocated last year to Fun Spot in Angola Indiana for spare parts. It's funny this topic came up, I was just there this morning taking some pictures from the parking lot of the motel next to the park. I'm sure the eagle is beyond repair now and the parks fate is sealed. Check out this to see somewhat, what the park looks like now... Americana as of October and last week.

^KI still does an international program, it was just limited to particular departments.

Rollercoaster freak, while I appreciate your enthusiasm, please do not double post in an attempt to bump your thread. There are over 2000 members on this site, people will reply eventually. We already have that ride. It's called Rugrats Runaway Reptar. The one at movie park in Germany just features a new track style by vekoma with re-designed restraints. Im pretty sure the one you showed is the same, if not extremely similar, layout.

^And it did even worse things during the Cedar Fair era.
-
I've seen them at Cedar Point multiple times, yet every time I ride dragster, I'm never so lucky.

THanks for sharing man! Please share if you have any more you find! Sorry to hear about the loss of your brother.

What does PKI need to take the next step as a theme park?
Gordon Bombay replied to GADVFREAK99's topic in Rumors
I personally think PKI needs better dining options. What they have is good, but nothing I ever really feel like spending money on, except happy days, thats pretty well done. The food service is pretty lacking in selection I'd also like to hear more music throught he park and more lights to create a better night time atmosphere. Welcome to PKIC Gadv freak, myself and someo f the PKIC staff may be visiting your park for the first time this summer! Hows chiller doing without its inversions? -
Great job Maureen!

The PKICentral staff had the pleasure of meeting the man who designed the arcade. Personally I think its very good, much better than what you see at Dave and Busters and Wonder Park.

Geauga Lake Takes New Direction

Yes it is possible, Steel coasters and wooden coasters can be re-profiled after severl years. The Demon coasters at Great America were as was Drachen Fire before it was torn down. -
Firehawk Construction Is Well Under Way!
Gordon Bombay replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
^They actually have a ton of un-used land and are tapping into that right now with the addition of Firehawk. Just because you dont like Adventure Express doesnt mean they should remove it. Lots of people do like it, its low maintenance, easy to run, and doesnt cause trouble. Why fix something thats not broken? -
Geauga Lake Takes New Direction
Gordon Bombay replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^They are in now way similar rides, two completely different experiences that can be marketed differently. "Re-engineering" footers is not attractive? Well for one, they're actually called footings, and how is re-engineering certain parts of the ride not attractive? You argument makes no sense. Rides have been re-located countless amounts of times and will continue to do so, especially Geauga Lake if it doesnt get better. -
Geauga Lake Takes New Direction
Gordon Bombay replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So what if CP has a stand up coaster, for some kid who works seasonaly at Geauga Lake you should know that Dominator is a floorless rollercoaster, theres no standing involved and calling it a terrain coaster? The terrain doesnt seem to change much here. Dominator could easily be relocated with little re-engineering of the supporst just like Firehawk is doing now. -

Cstrwoman, please refer to the previous posts and neighboring topics before posting Pki open April 21st, and even before KI announced they would be receiving GL, the desconstruction was announced by GL way back in late Novemember/Early December by a local newpaper up there.
