I believe there was a similar type of incident at the sandusky lodge back during the 04 season that was just found to be allergies by numerous guests, not an illness in their lodge like was suspected. Like Ryan said, GWL is a great place to stay, every time I've been the place is always packed but has an excellent staff. Its always clean and has a great atmosphere.

Respiratory Problems Linked To Stay At Local Indoor Waterpark Reported by: Shannon Kettler Web produced by: Laura Hornsby Photographed by: 9News First posted: 3/7/2007 5:25:05 PM Operators of the new indoor water park in Mason are looking for solutions after a number of people have gotten sick. The Warren County Health Department says 15 to 20 people in the last two months have experienced upper respiratory problems after staying at the Great Wolf Lodge. Representatives from various health agencies will have a conference call on Thursday to talk about this issue. They believe it is an indoor air problem, but what's not clear is how it should be fixed. Renee Ferrar of Mason thought a three-day weekend last month would be the perfect time to check out the new Great Wolf Lodge. However, her family's stay at the indoor water park was anything but a vacation. "All four of us had symptoms from something," Ferrar said. "My niece and nephew and in-laws; only one escaped not having symptoms. We talked to other people who had similar symptoms which leads us to believe this was not a fluke." Those symptoms ranged from upper respiratory problems to skin irritation and rashes. The Warren County Health Department and the Ohio Department of Agriculture are working with Great Wolf Lodge to look at their ventilation system. They say it could be the combination of heavy chlorine compounds inside enclosed heated atmosphere. "If you have asthma or other breathing issues you are going to need to use caution if you are going to this facility," said health commissioner Duane Stansbury. "I know they have taken some measures to lower temperatures to see if that would help. They are doing some things currently to address it." Renee Ferrar says the lodge compensated her for part of her family's stay. A return visit is still a possibility. "I think we would go back, but we would be cautious to not stay in the pool area for a long period of time," Ferrar said. "But that's what you want to do is stay in the pool for the fun and that was disappointing." Again, health officials tell 9News this is an air problem and not the water. Those folks with asthma are going to want to be careful if they come here. 9News contacted the Great Wolf Lodge, but calls were not returned by the given deadline of today.

"I rode X-flight back in 02 while it was still under six flags. The ride itself was fantastic, the wait was not. The capacity for this ride is not very good. I waited 45 min for a ride that under normal ride wait time would be around 15. Knowing how smart people are from southern Ohio, I don't think that the loading time will change." But, being as that I know you and that I know you have no real evidence to back up your claim, nor know how the ride will be run/its procedures and stuff, you cant really say what the capacity will be. However, yeah your probably right, its going to be low capacity.

Yeah I wasnt planning on defacing public property... but man... I would love to get in ther! Hey Colin, while it definently might be an interesting thing to see, and I know of some former employees who have seen the house, it is located in an area restricted to all park guests at all times. Just follow the rules when at the park, theres not much to see anyways ( )

Even More Firehawk Construction!
Gordon Bombay replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Vault is god awful, Mountain Dew tastes smooth and refreshing but when I used to drink Vault when I worked for beast buy it was like swallowing warm mountain dew mixed with salt and hydrochloric acid. Im sorry but I HATE Coke from a can. Its very acidic and in no way refreshing. However, from tap I dont mind it at all, but the canned and bottled stuff they put out is garbage and their powerade is terrible as well, its like drinking food coloring and water. -
mbpavillionfan, please reveiew the terms of service page and STOP typing in all caps. Have good day!

Six Flags Florida?
Gordon Bombay replied to marlfox_21's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Marlfrox is a credible source and it is likely that SF could be looking into possibly adding a park in Florida. How far is Christmas from Orlando and if SF were to do this they'd have to deliver a VERY high quality year round park, thier current year round park isnt very desirable. -
While I would definently love to see Millenium Flyer trains on SOB as well (hey pkipunk, hows the GCI internship going? ) the real question to ask is not how much money CF is willing to front for the trains, but whos willing to put their product on that thing? Granted, I love PKI, I like the ride, and want to see it become sucessfull along with the rest of the park, but SOB had a really bad stigma to it that was just re-inforced by last summers accident. I know the park is doing all they can and I darn well kow PKI maintenace is top notch, but the ride does have a bad rep. It would not surprise me if the ride opens up very late in the season (or not at all, and then re-opens up in 08) with new trains, plenty of modifications, and possibly a new name. Stevo, you asked about how gerstauler trains compare to PTC's. I've ridden Gerstauler trains on two coasters, The Villain and The Raging Wolf Bobs both at Geauga Lake Park. The trains arent that bad, but the only padding is the seat. The lap bars are just steel and bag on your knees, RWB wasn't too bad and was quite fun. However, the villain is horribly maintained and an awful ride over all, the lack of padding on the trains doesnt help it, those trains on that bad of track felt like they were digging into your kidneys and pulverizing your lungs (zoso can atest to that). I thing Gerstauler trains will be ok as long SOB has some other problems worked out.

You are correct, as Maureen said it will still be a meet and greet but with a "slight performance/show aspect to it". -

New Name, New Look, New Attitude, Same Great Place!
Gordon Bombay replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Over haul is the correct term. What Dane did to this site has been amazing. He has completely re-vamped the lay out and added quite a bit of content. If you understood anything about web design you would know how much work he put into this update. As far as grammar, eveyrone makes a few spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes here and there, and the moderating team is never too harsh with it unless it really becomes a serious problem for the users to read, then they handle it appropriately. Soon the whole site will be brought up to speed as far as little misses in information that needs to be corrected, as far as moderating goes, Dane and Boddah (The admins) have apointed the appropriate persons and they can handle making sure the T.O.S. are enfroced. Have a great day! I'm very glad to see everyone on here is enjoying the new re-vamped KIC! -
As Interpreter said, we're discutting the possibility of another attraction in 2007.
-
Thats because you dont have any inside info. I worked for Kings Island under both Cedar Fair and Paramount Parks and family who worked in operations at Cedar Point. I think a full time operations employee knows a little bit more than a seasonal 1st year ride op who pretends to be busy. Regardless, my resume is not in question here, your credibility is and as RailRider pointed out, myself and the interpreter are not the only ones who doubt that "credibility" of yours, and are not the only ones sick of those pretending to have info they really dont.
-
Actually buddy riding the ride in uniform was required 3 times a day at each ride as part of the daily maintenace inspection. At GL I rode the ride with a girl in uniform who worked at the double loop, and at Cedar Point a friend of mine who worked TTD came for a ride with me. How about interacting with guests instead of just standing around "pretending to be busy". You have proven time and time again that you have no inside information, and no sense of decent guest service, despite your passion for amusement parks. Get a decent argument, or get out.
-
What needed to be done? Did you need to pretned you were busy or something? Seriously, what did you do that needed to be done?
-
What does that mean?? Hes poking fun at how your making stuff up about eurobungee, werent you the one that assured me over on GG that X flight wasnt leaving?
-
^Could be the same with Steel Venom, did he check his figures on that one too?
-
Where did you get the figures to know how profitable it is or isnt? The park doesnt care how much money they bring in, as long as the company known as Eurobungee pays its lease.
-
Attendance was plummeting, the are was quickly going to hell, and the park was sandwhiched inbetween an ugly industrial park and Interstate 275. The park itself was ok. It changed hands from its original owners when the Caddies guy bought it, it was run horribly then and he didnt last long. Now caddies the adjoining banquet centers have been renovated for use by a neighboring church. The park land is still for sale, it obviously, wont re-open as an amusement park though. I know what you mean by the memories, I used to go there all the time.

Tom, are you sure those were the ones that came from Surf Cincy? I thought the dual speed slides that you could see from I-275 were identical, or atleast similar to the Beach's speed slides with the hump in the middle, however I could be very wrong. Does the Beach only use the Toboganing slides during holiday fest or do they become regular water slides during the summer season?
