Paramount's Kings Dominion
Gordon Bombay replied to PKD4LIFE's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Looks like your most likely getting a Boomerang Bay expansion, they wouldnt just move the water park then spend even more money to expand it later. Enjoy the re-theme.......its great! As far as a list goes: PKI PC PKD PCW PGA Theres now way PKD can compare to PKI (I have visited PKD) PKD definently beats PCW and PGA though, but theres no way it ties with PKI. Carowinds is quite nice and I believe it does bea PKD. -
That sucks having to surrender a coaster, especially the first of its kinds. PGA doesnt seem like it has that many good coasters.

BeastBuzz 2005 Saturday June 11 2005
Gordon Bombay replied to pkiboy's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I will be working an open shift that day, I hope to see you all coming to enjoy The Beast. -
^I think PGA already had a water park before they got the boomerang bay expansion. If I remember correctly their slogan for this year was "Twice the size in 2005" meaning twice the size of the waterpark in 2005. Theirs does look a lot nicer though.

^If they remove any of those coasters (Racers, Vortex, Top Gun, or SOB) next year, you may all slap me. But dont worry, I wont feel the flesh of any of your hands anytime soon. I heard that they were gonna tear down Vortex and gun and use the steel to add on to the eifel tower after they tear down The Racers and use the wood to construct a bridge to a new expansion of the park that will feature the worlds fastest carousel that reaches speeds of over 127 miles per hour!!!!

I did, and Dan is right. Screamscape is just RUMORS! Wait till the middle of the summer when they announce whats coming. None of those coasters are going, anyone with common sense can see that......they all run fine and are kept up and they have great capacity. Screamscape is full of crap, wait till PKI announces it, then if Screamscape was right you can come up to me and slap me.

I could see someone trying to break in there, youd be suprised at some of the idiots we get at the park, most of the ACERS I've met think they dont have to wear the seatbelts and that they know how the coaster is supposed to work as well as everything at the park.

Italian Job in the Enquirer Again
Gordon Bombay replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Thanks for the comment, Its nice to know that someone notices how hard we are working. Your welcome, I hate it when guests think they know how everything should run when something isnt going there way. The ride is brand new and the first of its kind and the IJST crew is doing a fantastic job of operating it. Yesterday Beast was closed down and I was out guest relating and some lady came up to me and demanded to speak to my manager and supervisor because according to her "whoever the f**k is running this s****y park is doing an awful job, and I want to see your darn mannager!'" I told her they were doing the best job they could and that she had no idea of the circumstances and that the park employees were doing there best. She still continued to argue and curse and scream at me untill I threatened to call security. Does this lady know how to run a park? No, not at all. Do 90% of the guests at KI know how to run the park? No. I dont know everything about the park but what I can say is that the powers that be in charge of the park are doing the best darn job they can to run the park and it is no easy task, so quit complaining. Although the guest experience that you are talking about is definitely on the unnecessary side of the spectrum, I have no choice but to sypmathize with the position of a lot of the guests in the park. I don't think it's too much to ask a guest who more than likely, drove long and far to get to the park, paid a lot of money to get into the park, and is likely spending even more money inside the park to expect a certain degree of performance out of the park in exchange. I don't think it's too much to ask that nearly all of the rides be in safe working conditions, the employees look professional and act the same, and the general look and feel of the park to be above par. Before you attack me for this, let me let you know that as a frequenter of the park, I really don't care what's running and what's not. I mean now that things are in full gear, I'd have to say that 50% of the reason I go to the park is to do work for PKIC, while 40% is to see the many employee-friends that I have made over the past few years, while only 10% is to ride the rides and enjoy the attractions. Of course, I am by far the exception rather than the rule. On the other hand, do you want my stance on guests that lash out at employees? I don't see why PKI should have to do business with them. If a person really gets so worked up that they have to raise their voice or cuss at an employee, they really have no place at a family park. I suppose when it comes down to it, there is a double-sided obligation. The park must realize that their patrons pay a lot of money to enjoy the rides and attractions and should keep them clean, safe, and in working order. At the same time, guests must realize that these things are mechanical, and mechanical things break from time to time, especially if it's new. Aren't we all better people now? Ryan First off you have every right to expect the rides to be in good working order, but you dont know every circumstance. Sunday night a lot of rides we're closed and opening back up, while I knew Beast was down, I cant tell anybody, sometimes things happen that are beyond human control, may times it has to do with the age of the ride or just a simple mistake, but what people need to understand is, is that the people working are doing all that they can to fix the rides. Maintenace and the managers work their asses off trying to get the rides back up, we lose money when the rides are closed, you take the risk of a ride not working right when you enter the park. You expect good service, and the employees give you the best they can under the circumstances. Most of the people we have problems with are ACER's and people from websites like this who think they know everything and like to make a big scene of things at the park (although pretty much everyone I've met from this site at the tours and at the park is extremely cool). As for Dan telling me to work on my guest relations, I dont think its my guest relating thats the problem its the guests who demand to be treated like gods. When that lady came and cursed me out, I was angry, but I didnt say anything bad to her, she doesnt have the right to treat me or any other employee like crap nor does anyone on this site or any guest. They want good guest relation and service, then they better act with some decency in the park. Ha, you tell me I need to work on my guest relations yet I get complimented by my sup's quite often on how I always tell guests to have a good day and how guests compliment on the service. Just cause your a guest doesnt give you the right to treat other people like crap, we treat you nicely, but you need to also have some regard and respect. *note* Boddah, I wasnt attacking you, you we're right and what you said and I thank you for what you said. Also, thanks to everyone I've met at the park from PKIC for being nice and courteous guests. -

^All I'm saying is, is that you cant believe everything you hear, did I say Jeff Seiberts word was Golden? No! All I said was is that you can probably trust his opinion on the matter more than anyone elses and that the park is doing the best job it can and making good decisions. -
Yeah but I'm not sure how to post it ont he forums, it doesnt have an html link.
-
No, actually i had to get really creative with building it. What I did was build two elevators to the correct height then build the structure around them including paths so people can stand in the tower. For the supports of the structure I used steep slanted wooden track painted blue. Then some bent blue steel track to create a curvy design.

You say "other people" say it could be in effect all summer. "Other people" is not a good source, I think you can pretty much trust what Jeff Seibert is telling you, he knows what hes talking about, the ride op handing out the tickets dont always know the whole story. -
Old man withers, the man who rusn the haunted amusement park!
-
Coming along fine, the eifel tower is up and running, and I should have it finished as soon as Soaked is released.
-
For the love of god!!! NOT THIS TOPIC AGAIN!!! It WILL NOT be Vortex. A couple of years ago it got a new paint job and new sensors, they wouldnt not pull out a ride that runs perfectly fine, has great capacity, and that they jsut invested money in.

If some kids made fun of you for being obsessed with PKD just look right at them, stick up your middle finger, and say "I dont give a f**k what you think about me"! Seriously, dont let the opinions of other affect who you are. -
Thats no excuse for the stupid Mcdonalds lady, she had no right to sue, its her own stupid fault for sticking the cofee cup in between her legs when cup holders are available in the car and disregarding the warning labels printed in red ont eh side of the cup that say "WARNING! HOT!". She is an idiot, If I knew her I would punch her right in the face.

^ PKI's main website doesnt do it justice. PKI has quite a lot of flats and some really good ones too. We also have one of the best kids areas. CW looks quite nice though.

I just recently heard about Disney trying to build one there but the government isnt being very cooperative.

Italian Job in the Enquirer Again
Gordon Bombay replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
It is a good idea because if you actually took the time to read the article you would know why. They are issuing the passes because they do not want to create 2 - 3 hour lines when there is a chance of the ride breaking down. The ride is new and the management is still trying to get in the swing of things with regular operation of the ride. They dont want people waiting two hours then having to break down and increasing that wait, by issuing the passes they are creating shorter lines so that in case of a breakdown they wont have people sitting in a que all day waiting for the ride to come back up. This system isnt going to be used all year, just untill KI's Italian Job crew gets into the swing of things. Jeff Seibert even stated they wont be doing this all the time. It is only temporary, all you had to do was read. You complain about horrible capacity but did you see the crew working this weekend? Everytime a train came through the billboard another train left the station, they are doing a fantastic job. -
Information on Runaway Reptar Operations
Gordon Bombay replied to Spider and the Fly's topic in Kings Island
Because when your hired by PKI they tell you not reveal anything that you know as an employee that you wouldnt know as a guest. They check sites like these as well as coasterbuzz and others to make sure their employees arent giving away anything a guest could misinterpret. I was jsut warning employees not to do it so that they wouldnt put their jobs in danger, Im sure if you spoke to PKI they could be even more helpful. -
^Anyone know what became of that case? That was true crap right there. That man couldve saved himself by using common sense. Its raining, there lightinging, you dont go to a big metal object. He says the park didnt give him any warning of the storm, but when everyone is seeking shelter, all the rides are closed down, theres sounds of thunder and visible ligthing, do you really need Jeff Seibert to run out of his office, grab you by the collar, and scream in your face: "ITS GONNA RAIN!"? No, you dont. It amazes me how people cant take responsibility for themselves. It's an unfortanate accident but PKI is in no way responsible.
-
I really hope that doesnt become true. Paramount I dont really think could compete with Disney building one too in Hong Kong. I really wish theyd use that 1.5 billion to make improvements on all their other parks. My dad said that he heard Paramount wanted to build a new park in Palo Alto California is this true?
