it actually shows the tower under construction. Any other pictures of that anywhere?

so, you have to go back to 1978 to find an off-season with thsi level of innactivity at the park. looks as if CF is establishing who the favorite child is in Ohio. I guess in part I'm suprised that we didn't at the minimum get a "re-tread" from GL

I'm near positive that someone on this board will correct me but 1932 seems to stick out to me. I know (at least I think) that it was around for one of the large floods in the 1930's; there were stories of the horses being washed up all down the Ohio River. The Carousel building (and platform) could really use a good sandblast and paint job. One of the shops along the north side of International Street used to have historical pictures of the Carousel- but I don't think they have had it for a while.

i apologize for breaching the areas to not tread to. I know the explosivity of political issues which is why I mention both sides. but either way, apologies. -
Oil Today Closed at $101.01

its absolute B$! In these days I get so sick of seeing reports on Bloomberg that Exxon/Mobile had record years. No kidding?!?!?! I would like to blame this crap on the countries across the pond... but the fact of the matter is these are because oil is traded on the NY exchange and not based on actualy supply/demand. Chavez makes a hallow threat (which he confirmed today that he wasn't serious) and investment individuals in NY scream "OMG- it's a supply shortage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- RAISE THE PRICE!" Or I love this excuse- "supply fears." when was the last time we saw a line at the gas pumps since 1981? With all the corporate scandals of 2002-2003 wouldn't you think that someone would be on the hook for "price fixing?" Although I like how in the Primaries the Democrats are quick to blame Republicans (Bush in particular)/Big Business for the prices.... It's a Democratically-controlled Congress.... funny how they're not doing anything either. No wonder they collectively have a 25% approval rating. It's interesting that you never hear that... you only hear of Pres. Bush's 35% approval rating... not the Congressional 25%. -
i've never thought of this but whats to keep an animal from climbing onto the tracks.... and say what would happen if a train zero'd in on one..... just think of meeting up with a medium sized deer in one of The Beasts tunnels... that'll put some hair on your chest.

ryan, you are very talented and I certainly hope you are getting paid well in your daytime job. You are much too creative for a not-for-profit fansite.

i think that if you would actually consider having your wedding at Kings Island I would say your love and devotion to this 500+ acre tract of land is likely reaching an unhealthy level. That being said- Festhaus. I have known of people who had their reception there... actually just one. And it was a key adm. employee many years ago when Mr. Fudd was a wee one. I don't think they are in the habit of renting that out. It was Nov. 1986 or 1987. The college age park security back then had a real power trip over a pre-teen that tried to venture outside a buillding. Almost like they were waiting in the bushes waiting to ambush when the door opened. Prep for Winterfest was in full swing so during daylight it was busy, but by dark it was CREEPY. sorry a bit off-topic. I had forgotten all about that.

you're all forgetting that last year- in addition to a hand-me-down from a closing park we got new trash cans. -
Skyscraper at Cedar Point

they've got a couple of those on the strip in pigeon forge. -
Where is that park at? that is pretty much as excellent ride theming / consistency as you can possibly get. This also begs the question of why can Kings Island / Cedar Point, etc... get the whole theming thing going. Paramount i think hit a homerun with the theming on Tomb Raider and I hope CF doesn't kill it by "turning a bunch of florescent lights on and making it a line." Most, if not all, of Cedar Points lines for their main attractions are just that.... lines. Not much theming whatsoever. Paramount had "streaks of brilliance"- but for the most part were pretty shy as well. FOF has goodl line theming, IJST had "OK" theming, Top Gun was pretty good (when everything worked). Universal Florida makes standing in the 60-minut line part of the experience. Dueling Dragons castle is pretty interesting just being in the line. Most of our lines are just turnstiles (see SOB). it would be nice if the next ride had a line that was just as much themeing as the hype around the ride.

Secret in store for GL?
Outdoor Man replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I have a business acquaintance that makes regular trips past the park enroute to a cluster of companies in the general vicinity and he made mention that there was a lot of "traffic" going in and out of the park area for the off season and that they seemed to be local contractors. He's not in the business and no where near anything official but speculated that they were commercial real esate professionals assessing what options could happen there / consulting potential investors for "non-park-related activity." My guess is that GL fans in the Aurora area see vehicles going in and out of the lot hope for some miracle announcement to come- and what they are seeing has nothing to do with restoring any part of the grounds. He has said that in recent weeks flat bed trucks carrying entire kiosks "intact" came out of the park. He said it looked like the carnival was leaving town. -
Sure I discuss the weather- but I stop short of saying things like: if i could just get this cloud to go here instead of there- the angle fo the sunlight would be much better. now I may say that but not to the conviction that I actually think that my statement or belief in that statement would make it so. or if i set multiple fans outside my house and point them upward that would cause a effective systematical climatic change that wiill cause more snow than rain to fall.

[half-laughing] like anything that is said/suggested on this will EVER actually inspire the powers that be to change anything based on the opions expressed.

they could be signs left over from last year also.

wow AZ... that's about the most sensible thing I've read on these boards. No offense to Stremmefan, but 16 years between visits is a long time. Kings Island was barely past 16 years old when your last visit was (19 if you're doing the math). The details on the train ride were bound to change or die out. KI is a regional park, not a vacation destination.... there's only so many times you can "save the lady from the train" in front of the same crowd before it gets old. Without the water park- the train ride is no longer there. Enchanted Voyage was removed by KECO and had nothing to do with Paramount... as a matter of fact, they're the ones that brought Scooby back to that location. I agree the shops could be better placed. this is a food stop... but Panda Express really doesn't "fit" in a German themed area/building (Festhaus). I would like to see CF the volume up on some of the themed areas. for the most part I agree with your post- but many things are in the past and not likely to make a comeback. I like the Jetsons but I don't know when the last time I saw them on TV was.... even longer for Yogi. Nick's time will go in time also. anything beyond that see AZ's post.

off-observations: On KI's ride page, Top Gun... I mean, Thunder Roa... uh, Flight Deck is the only ride that doesn't have a "more details" link/page.
-
someone mentioned it before a day or so ago about CF not being original on Ride names. That seems to have been across the board from Paramount days... and before. Paramount Years reused names: Top Gun, Flight of Fear, IJST, Fairly Odd, Runaway Reptar, Boomerang Bay, etc... Even before Paramount: Thunder Road was going to be used more than once, Vortex, White Water Canyon, Eiffel Tower (attraction, not name), The Beast / Bush Beast, The all do it. It is a marketing dollars and cents thing.

I don't live in Atlanta, so there's my qualifications for this statement; but hasn't Atlanta since November been on a more "regular" rainfall pattern? Not sure that any deficit has been recaptured, but if they didn't close them last year during the height of the drought- why would they choose to close things when the drought is retreating? Like I said, I don't live there, don't know what the conditions are. here in Cincinnati the lake at the front of our subdivision entrance was about 2 foot down in September.... As of this morning it was frozen at the top of the banks. So I would assume our drought is over- though I think since Jan. 1 2007 we're still a few inches shy of "normal."

Congo was an awful movie. I would like to do two polls. #1- who on this board knew Congo was a movie #2- who on this board even knew that Congo was more than just a country to conqueror on a "Risk" board

yea, I'm thinking like closing weekend 2006.
