  1. On my second ride yesterday, I was in row 16 on the left side. The guy next to me decided to turn around to look at the splashback, and got soaked. My left armpit got a little damp from the spray.
  2. Don't really want to describe my entire trip, so instead I'll just post a few photos and some highlights from my trip... Highlights and general thoughts about the trip: Didn't have to wait any longer than 20 minutes for Diamondback (Single Rider Line rules!). Overall, park guests seemed less than enthusiastic about riding things. I was really impressed with how fast Diamondback travels up the first hill and wish all the coasters went up the lift hill that fast. I really like the new estimated wait time signs and hope to see more of those popping up on some rides. Now, the pictures... Despite temps in the 60s, some people were still willing to get drenched on Congo River Falls Splashdown on Diamondback Didn't get too many photos as I was too busy riding stuff. Did take quite a few pictures of Diamondback, as well as one of Invertigo and a few more Congo River Falls shots. See http://www.flickr.com/photos/oldiesmann/se...57617578525635/ for more.
  3. I'm not into wakeboarding, but I will definitely have to drive up there to watch the fun sometime. Never ceases to amaze me what keeps popping up around here
  4. While in line for The Beast, a kid asked his dad why there were so many pennies laying on top of the water spout thingy. The father told his son that they usually have a water fountain going there, and people toss their pennies into it.
  5. Someone was out there checking passes today. I'm also surprised that there isn't a phone out there, especially if KI still has a policy of employees not being allowed to have cell phones...
  6. I noticed that the ugly green tent-like building at the end of Coney Mall is finally gone. Also, while riding Adventure Express, I saw a tram parked back by Son of Beast...
  7. The best option would be to add a couple of gates like they have in parking garages. This would prevent people from flying past the attendant and it would require the attendant to actually pay attention - once they verify that the guests have a pass, they just press a button to open the gate. Granted, these gates can malfunction, but it doesn't happen that often. People could still cheat the system if they tried hard enough, but it wouldn't be that likely, and trying to fly through the gate would cause major damage to their car.
  8. Today a kid referred to Monster as "the big black octopus"...
  9. Another thing I would like to see changed at KI... Turn off the lights for FoF. I loved it when it was in the dark, particularly with the mist/fog. Having an indoor coaster is kind of pointless if you can see where you're going.
  10. That wouldn't be a bad idea at all, but I think it's more a question of how much it would cost them to implement such a system.
  11. That's an older account of his. He's now going by "SAMMYLUVSDANE".
  12. Thanks coaster_junky... I was too lazy to look it up That will change tomorrow when I will hopefully be riding Diamondback for the first time. I'm also hoping to find a way to get to Cedar Point sometime this summer.
  13. I didn't really notice it either until I worked at the park in 2005. I noticed there were two elevators and that one seemed to go to a lower platform that wasn't open much. I knew a supervisor at the tower who posted on this board, and asked her about it. I was told that the lower one is only open on busy days when they have enough staff or when it's raining.
  14. For me it's whatever the 2nd tallest coaster at KI is. Unfortunately I haven't been to very many parks - Magic Kingdom, Kentucky Kingdom (pre-Six Flags) and Coney Island are the only other ones I've been to.
  15. As I recall from the only time I've been there as a guest that early (when Firehawk opened), the front gates open around 9am, but they hold you to the front of International Street until 10.
  16. This photo clearly shows the twin decks at the top... (original location: http://kingsislandinsider.blogspot.com/200...ower-regal.html). http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_e6DmX3i-ePM/SagQ...-h/DSC_0003.JPG
  17. There are actually two platforms at the top - the open air platform and one right below it that's more enclosed. The lower one is generally open on rainy days since it allows guests to enjoy the views without getting drenched in the process.
  18. Just ordered one of each shirt. Had to pay the extra $1.75 for standard shipping in order to guarantee its arrival in time (with economy it was estimated that they'd arrive 3-6 days after the event...). As far as the shipping charges - blame UPS for that. If everyone would use Priority Mail instead of UPS, things would be much cheaper
  19. Kids sizes aren't available at the moment, but it shouldn't be too hard for Dane to add them. I've never run a cafepress store, but from what I understand it's just a few clicks to add an additional item to the store.
  20. Coasters that opened in the US in 1982: Corkscrew at the Alabama State Fairgrounds Grizzly at Kings Dominion Monser Mouse at Rocky Glen Sooper Jet at Adventureland Space Coaster at Saltair Viper at Darien Lake Of these, only Grizzly and Viper are still operating. Grizzly is a wooden coaster with PTC cars, while Viper is an Arrow custom looping coaster which appears to be similar to Vortex.
  21. Were they removed as part of an HB expansion or was there another reason for their removal?
