  1. Perfect North is quite fun, though I haven't been there in a few years. Sent from my LG G3 using Tapatalk
  2. I'm still a be skeptical as to how well this will work, especially given that during the week, Perfect North gives you unlimited tubing for about the same price. The Beach does have a couple of advantages - they're open earlier on many days (Perfect North doesn't start up until 1pm on non-holidays during the week) and they're a lot closer than Perfect North for many people. Hopefully they'll do well.
  3. Marion Knott, the youngest daughter of Knott's Berry Farm's founders, has died at the age of 92. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/knott-642582-park-marion.html
  4. Despite what was said recently, the new trailer was "leaked" today instead of being released next week...
  5. A new trailer is due out in 10 days as well (just in time for the annual Peanuts Thanksgiving special of course).
  6. And Ouimet continues to impress... A new family flat ride, a new kiddy flat ride and a bunch of other small improvements even in an off season. Not sure how I feel about Starbucks. Whatever brings more money to the park I guess. Thrill Seekers was kind of pointless after the renovated gift shop near Banshee (although TS likely had more merch). The petting zoo is an interesting idea. The only other park I've been to that has one is Beech Bend, but it makes a bit more sense at a small park in a more rural area (even though Bowling Green itself isn't exactly rural). Hard to describe. This video should help (long but well worth watching).
  7. From what I've read/heard, Saturday was a very busy day for amusement parks in general. There were reports of large crowds and long lines at many parks - Kings Dominion, Kings Island, Cedar Point, Six Flags Great America, Canada's Wonderland... I'm guessing a large part of that is due to the fact that it was the last Saturday before Halloween.
  8. I'm still wondering what effect this has had on attendance at Six Flags Great America. Knowing how many people already think various rides closed because people died, I wouldn't be too surprised if some of the general public got "Six Flags America" and "Six Flags Great America" mixed up as well.
  9. This is great. Could also be the beginnings of a fun mobile app/website...
  10. I think the best thing the park can do at this point is to drop their counter-suit, quietly settle the pending lawsuit and hire a new PR firm - preferably one that specializes in damage control and knows how to properly handle social media. Even if it was a scam, the actions from the park and those associated with them have only hurt the situation for KK. I'm sure the victims' lawyer is having a field day with this.
  11. Electric Rainbow is at Stricker's Grove now, albeit without its colorful inserts (they've been sitting in a stack on a piece of wood underneath the ride for as long as I've been going to Stricker's - probably 6 or 7 years).
  12. "Safety is our number one concern.". And yet Fright Fest continues, albeit with supposedly increased security. The fact that this happened in the first place means that several people clearly didn't take security at the park seriously.
  13. It's possible that selfie was uploaded by accident and/or meant for a personal account (non-work-associated) account. It's located in Bessemer, Alabama, which is about 15 miles southwest of Birmingham.
  14. Yes there are. Like the Creation Museum, the park will be run as its own separate entity, but will still be fully owned by Answers In Genesis. It's a bit confusing as far as the legal stuff goes, but that's why there are lawyers who are good at figuring that stuff out.
  15. As far as a family-friendly "dark" ride goes, I will once again point to Holiday World. During my two-day visit in late August, I rode that more than any other ride in the park (although that's partly due to the fact that it was also extremely hot that weekend). Nearly every target was working properly and all of the "turkey callers" were working perfectly as well. Granted, Holiday World's ride is newer than Boo Blasters, but still, if they can maintain a well-themed, family-friendly Sally ride (it's tough to call it a dark ride because it's not really dark in there), there's no reason why Cedar Fair can't do the same, considering their budget is likely much higher than that of Holiday World.
  16. Tapatalk works great for me, though it seems to keep logging me in anonymously to check for new content (which, according to a post on the Tapatalk forum, was supposed to be fixed ages ago when they switched from pull notifications [app checks for new content every so often and notifies you of it] to push notifications [service notifies app of new content every so often]).
  17. Being a comic book nerd myself (I'm mostly into Archie), I had heard about it, but having just gone to the local comic show the previous weekend (Cincinnati Comic Expo), I decided to skip Awesome Con.
  18. That's what happens when you want to market all your parks as one brand rather than giving them each their own identity. The fact that there's another Six Flags park in Illinois with a very similar name certainly won't help things either.
  19. If there were any other plans, I'm sure they got scrapped as soon as the Kochs decided to bail.
  20. Good point... I don't know that I'd visit enough to make it worth my while really. I'll still consider it though.
  21. School starts Wednesday August 12! That is the reason for the closure. Where did you find the calender? Isnt school in session right now? Isnt KI open (weekends) till like November? Going to weekend-only operation once school starts isn't unusual at all. It is unusual to be open on a Monday and Tuesday and then be closed the next three days, though it appears Holiday World did something similar this year (they were open daily through August 13th, which was a Wednesday). However, when your park has a reputation as being a place where bored teens can go during the summer to stay out of trouble, the fact that you're open the last two days before school starts really doesn't help your image. Knowing how things seem to be operating right now though, someone likely sees that as a way to boost attendance figures.
  22. This announcement is making it quite likely that I will be buying a HW pass next year. I was already planning on returning for Rock The World next year. With the addition of this coaster, I am hoping to also add Holiwood Nights to my itinerary. Going by 2014 prices, the cost of both events (assuming 2 days for RtW again) would be $150+. If I get a pass, the cost is $120 for the pass plus $67 for the events. The 10% food and merch discount would likely more than make up for the difference. Decisions decisions....
  23. Their operating calendar makes my head hurt. Closed for private events: April 18th, May 16th and 17th and September 20th, 26th and 27th KK 11-7: Saturdays and Sundays April 11th through May 10th "Check Website": May 18th-22nd, 26th and 27th KK 11-9, HB 11-8: Fridays and Saturdays May 23rd through August 15th (also May 24th, September 5th and September 6th) KK 11-8, HB 11-7: Sunday through Thursday May 31st through August 11th KK 11-7, HB 11-6: May 25th and 28th, August 16th, September 7th, 12th, 13th and 19th State fair hours: 4-9 weekdays, 1-9 weekends (HB closed except for Big Surf Wave Pool, which is open til 7 all days during the fair) To recap: Open for no more than 10 hours a day even during the peak summer season. Only being open part of the week the 2nd week in August (why Monday and Tuesday but not the next three days?) Being closed the last three "operating days" of the season for a private event (which means the last public day will be a week earlier next year than it was this year) Water park once again closed during the fair, despite August being one of the hottest months for this region, except for a single wave pool. Edit: And it seems the 2015 operating hours suddenly vanished from the park's website while I was typing this post.
  24. I'm still hoping to make it out there for that event one of these years. One of my favorite artists is going to be in town on Sunday though so I took that day off instead. Maybe next year!
  25. I walked all over the expo last weekend and didn't see those. If I could only justify spending $250 on KI memorabilia (and had somewhere to put one of those)...
