I'm registered as well. Looking forward to this!

As I expected, today was a great day for rides. Even with it being a Math & Science Day, the longest I waited for most rides was 15-20 minutes (the only exception was Firehawk, which was a 45-minute wait due to them only running one side at the time). I even had time for a leisurely stroll through DA (glad it's free for gold/platinum now) and a nice mini coaster marathon at the end of the night, cramming in 6 Banshee rides, 4 Bat rides, a Beast ride and 3 Diamondback rides in just 2 1/2 hours. Today also gave me a couple of new experiences - a lights-on FoF ride and a solo Bat ride (still have no idea how that happened, but it was cool being the only one on the train). It is apparently also possible to dispatch a Bat train before the other train gets back (this was the ride right before my solo ride, when only 4 people were on the train). Other trip notes: WindSeeker was down most of the day due to wind Apparently the policy on DB is to buckle seatbelts in empty seats as well - not sure why I almost witnessed someone taking a walk of shame on Zephyr (first time I've seen that happen on that ride) While on Dodgem, they had to stop the ride so they could go tell some lady to put her cell phone up - after making the typical "put your electronic devices up" announcement twice (I'm surprised she didn't get kicked off the ride for that)

Mid-July would probably work best for me. June 8th wouldn't work at all as that would be my 4th day requested off in 3 weeks (I'm taking off the 30th and 31st for Kat's wedding and June 3rd so I can attend a baseball game with my dad and his brother whom I haven't seen in 10+ years). June 14th might work. Later in June might work as well, but I might possibly be requesting off the last day of Spirit Song (the 29th) to see Burlap to Cashmere, and the 30th is my birthday (though I'm almost always off on Mondays right now).

Anyone know why Kings Island is closed this week?

I'm looking forward to daily operation. That means I'll be able to hit KI on my days off and make up for lost time during the slower periods Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk -
Gold and Platinum Passholder ERT, Banshee and The Bat, May 9th

Too bad I have to work until 12:30 that night. Hopefully they'll do it again later in the season Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk -
On top of that, this is far from the first season that the park has been closed for a private event on the last Sunday in April. This has been an ongoing trend for years.

Hopefully they'll get the issues with Fast Lane worked out soon, or it will only get worse as the season progresses. The easiest way to resolve the issue though is to go through Guest Services - the complaints will go directly to the appropriate people, and they will take note of the fact that they're getting a lot of complaints about a particular issue (I would imagine the park has some way of tracking complaints and look for trends among departments/areas). Since I live just 30 minutes from the park, I don't see a need for Fast Lane - especially when I can use the money I saved by not buying one to use toward a trip to another park this summer (I still want to get to Holiday World this year, and possibly make a return trip to Camden and/or Beech Bend as well).

I doubt they would need permission to just show the current score. If they wanted to do more than that, they could contract with ESPN, Fox Sports Ohio, etc. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

If the restraints were to somehow fail going up the hill, gravity and the sloped seats would keep you in place. Anywhere else, a combination of things would prevent you from flying out. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

I agree. Why do pass holders have to wait 30 minutes longer? It's interesting that they keep choosing KI for testing stuff - Fast Lane, Fun Perks, now dining plans. Let's hope this test has a better outcome than Fun Perks does. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

It makes absolutely no sense for Diamondback to get seatbelts, especially after 5 years without them. I'll believe it when I see it. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

Weekdays early in the season are usually the best times to go. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

The Hank's employees did seem to be well-informed. One of them was quick to direct a guest to the nearest stand with gluten-free options, while the one who rang up my order knew to ask for my pass when I was buying a souvenir cup.

And all this time I kept hoping they'd eventually restore that clock to its original glory. I'm sure that wouldn't be cheap (clockwork seems to be a very specialized skill these days, especially with the ever-increasing presence of digital clocks), especially for a clock that size that's been sitting unused for the better part of a decade, but it's still a shame that they chose to remove it instead of fixing it up. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll bring it back at some point, but I don't see that happening now.

How long DID you wait for Banshee on Opening Day?
Oldiesmann replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Almost 5 hours, counting the downtime. This is despite us getting in line near the end of ERT (we even got there by 11 but it took us close to 30 minutes to get in the gate and figure out where the end of the line was once the gates opened at 11:30). Granted, we weren't planning on such large crowds, but I was still amazed that getting in line right at the end of ERT still gave us that long of a wait. -
I thought it was pretty good for a brand new option. The TV's they have this time are far better than the ones originally in the DB queue, though I agree that the trivia questions were a bit on the cheesy side (I also agree with that Sammy Hagar hint). The music video by St. Vincent was a bit odd as well, but it at least got my attention because it was unusual. I also liked hearing "Enter Sandman" and "Thriller" in the Banshee queue last night. Banshee has been running fine since around 12:30 or 1. To my knowledge, the only rides not open now are Drop Tower and Train. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

Gold/Platinum Pass Benefits at Kings Island (and other Cedar Fair Parks)
Oldiesmann replied to gad198's topic in Kings Island
The park's website says "during park hours". Officially, the park is open from noon til 10. Since the ticketing area opens before the rest of the park, I wouldn't be surprised if pass processing is open earlier than that as well. -
Third train is indeed green. It was sitting on the transfer track occupied by water dummies today.

42. Terp, "Who is John Galt," Atlas? Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Classic book, okay movie. The British miniseries was better than the movie. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

Holiday World 2014 Park Map
Oldiesmann replied to darkmarkman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
On an unrelated note, why is it that a small Indiana park can build a fully functional mobile website, but a park with the resources that KI has can't? Back on topic, I wonder if they're getting a discount on this due to the issues they had with the previous ride. I also wonder how it will compare to the Intamin ship at KI. I know that one opened in the 80s, and a lot has changed since then. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk- 100 replies

I'll post the handful of pictures I took when I get home from work tonight, if I'm not too tired by then (yes, I chose not to request today off since Media Day ended at 2 and I work at 4 on Thursdays. Not sure what I was thinking ). Overall I am very impressed with the changes the park has made, though I'm wondering who will be buying the $75 Nike Dri-FIT polo shirts they have in the gift shop...
