The Hank's employees did seem to be well-informed. One of them was quick to direct a guest to the nearest stand with gluten-free options, while the one who rang up my order knew to ask for my pass when I was buying a souvenir cup.

And all this time I kept hoping they'd eventually restore that clock to its original glory. I'm sure that wouldn't be cheap (clockwork seems to be a very specialized skill these days, especially with the ever-increasing presence of digital clocks), especially for a clock that size that's been sitting unused for the better part of a decade, but it's still a shame that they chose to remove it instead of fixing it up. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll bring it back at some point, but I don't see that happening now.

How long DID you wait for Banshee on Opening Day?
Oldiesmann replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Almost 5 hours, counting the downtime. This is despite us getting in line near the end of ERT (we even got there by 11 but it took us close to 30 minutes to get in the gate and figure out where the end of the line was once the gates opened at 11:30). Granted, we weren't planning on such large crowds, but I was still amazed that getting in line right at the end of ERT still gave us that long of a wait. -
I thought it was pretty good for a brand new option. The TV's they have this time are far better than the ones originally in the DB queue, though I agree that the trivia questions were a bit on the cheesy side (I also agree with that Sammy Hagar hint). The music video by St. Vincent was a bit odd as well, but it at least got my attention because it was unusual. I also liked hearing "Enter Sandman" and "Thriller" in the Banshee queue last night. Banshee has been running fine since around 12:30 or 1. To my knowledge, the only rides not open now are Drop Tower and Train. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

Gold/Platinum Pass Benefits at Kings Island (and other Cedar Fair Parks)
Oldiesmann replied to gad198's topic in Kings Island
The park's website says "during park hours". Officially, the park is open from noon til 10. Since the ticketing area opens before the rest of the park, I wouldn't be surprised if pass processing is open earlier than that as well. -
Third train is indeed green. It was sitting on the transfer track occupied by water dummies today.

42. Terp, "Who is John Galt," Atlas? Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Classic book, okay movie. The British miniseries was better than the movie. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

Holiday World 2014 Park Map
Oldiesmann replied to darkmarkman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
On an unrelated note, why is it that a small Indiana park can build a fully functional mobile website, but a park with the resources that KI has can't? Back on topic, I wonder if they're getting a discount on this due to the issues they had with the previous ride. I also wonder how it will compare to the Intamin ship at KI. I know that one opened in the 80s, and a lot has changed since then. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk- 100 replies

I'll post the handful of pictures I took when I get home from work tonight, if I'm not too tired by then (yes, I chose not to request today off since Media Day ended at 2 and I work at 4 on Thursdays. Not sure what I was thinking ). Overall I am very impressed with the changes the park has made, though I'm wondering who will be buying the $75 Nike Dri-FIT polo shirts they have in the gift shop... Had a great time. My body's a bit sore now, and I'm exhausted, but it was a blast. Looking forward to riding Banshee again tomorrow, as well as the rest of the rides. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

I do as well. It's been hard to watch the organ shell sit there gathering dust over the past 8 years or so.

All indications are that it will be returning this season, at least if a tweet from Don early in the offseason is to be believed: http://twitpic.com/do971a

218 people have RSVP'd to GOCC's Banshee Media Day event on Facebook. I don't know how many TPR folks are in that number or even if it includes anyone from TPR.

As I recall, there's no charge for replacing the pass in that situation, but worst case they'd just charge you the $10 replacement fee. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

This video has now emerged of the two flying for the first time (the roller coaster was apparently part of the prep for this): https://news.yahoo.com/video/grandmas-experience-flying-first-time-191151113.html. Apparently the British subsidiary of European telecommunications giant Vodafone was involved with this through their "Firsts" program (see website mentioned at the end of that video for more details).

I'll be stopping by the park sometime tomorrow (likely around 6 or 6:30) to get my platinum pass processed. Looking forward to Thursday Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

In 24 hours, I'll be trying to get as much sleep as I can... One of the benefits to living 30 minutes from the park. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk

Gold/Platinum Pass Benefits at Kings Island (and other Cedar Fair Parks)
Oldiesmann replied to gad198's topic in Kings Island
I still stand by my opinion that the info will be released on Thursday. It seems weird for them to wait that long, but given how media attention the park will be receiving that day, it makes sense. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk -
That will most assuredly not work unless the pass says she can bring a guest. The event is for invited attendees only.
-
As a reminder, to attend media day you must be a current member of one of the previously-announced coaster clubs and also have registered with the park through their website during the registration period.

Gold/Platinum Pass Benefits at Kings Island (and other Cedar Fair Parks)
Oldiesmann replied to gad198's topic in Kings Island
Although it seems strange that the park hasn't released benefit details less than a week before the park opens, when you consider how big Thursday is for the park, it really makes sense. What better way to sell passes than reveal all the benefits when all eyes are on the park? They get to sell the new coaster to the media and also show people what perks they get when they buy a pass. The new coaster, combined with the ERT and other perk info, will be a great motive to sell more passes, especially since the park still has roughly a month and a half til Gold disappears (assuming it lasts through the end of May like it usually does).
