Ah. Well I don't know much about the history of KI. As I've said before, Opening Day '08 was my first time setting foot in the park. Then you'll be interested in the history portion of the website. Very, Very informative.

Cedar Fair looking to layoff spongebob and friends
WooferBearATL replied to Mr.Smiley's topic in Kings Island
Well there will be a kids area. I'm not certain that CF would want to go to the expense of going Snoopy but it depends on what kind of deal that they've worked out. -

Certainly could explain some of the concentration on "The Nostalgia of HB Characters." -
Well, I'm sitting here at work (my Holiday to volunteer for) and feeling a bit ragged. I think that I was out far to late for having to drag myself into work early in the morning. Sure wish that ya'll would send some rain down to Georgia.

I'm sure that's the case, particularly for convention visitors. However, Vegas does do a huge repeat visitor business...in 2007 only 19% of visitors said that this was their first trip, as opposed to the 81% who were on a repeat trip: http://www.visitlasvegas.com/getfile/VPS-2....pdf?fileID=107 That same report also said that only 22% did some "paid entertainment activity" other than shows. (As opposed to the 63% who saw shows, and the 84% who gambled.) Maybe the theme park model of entertainment just doesn't work as well in Vegas as other markets? (Again, I'm just thinking out loud...) I have a buddy that goes out to Vegas at least 3 or 4 times a year. My step mother also goes out several times a year. (In fact, she is often comped for her travel by various resorts.) -
I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
WooferBearATL replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you on this one. We've all seen I-Team reports. The idea of the report is to sensationalize things as much as possible. I'm not saying that the park is right or wrong on this matter, but certainly does have the right to limit statements that it's employees make. One simply can not expect to make statements to the media (without speaking with their public relations department) and expect to keep their jobs. My goodness, people around the country are terminated for far less every day! -
Death at SFOG

Had the park only used the words "Extreme Danger!" This tragic incident could have been averted had the two six foot fences had that exact term on the signage! -
I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
WooferBearATL replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
Now let me see. Kings Island sits within an At Will State. So the park or the employer can dismiss you unless it's for reason of religion, disability or age. Employees are not permitted to give statements regarding the park without the parks consent. So tell me why the park would not be within it's right to terminate the employement? -

And what about those that don't have criminal intentions, but then find information laid out in front of them with a bow on top? And, no offense, exactly how can you assure us what people are gathering or not gathering from the local media? Copycat crimes happen all the time. Now, how do you believe the people that mimic others' crimes find out about them? http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nationwor...0,1498402.story http://www.bsu.edu/news/article/0,1370,-1019-652,00.html Someone that is predesposed towards crime and/or may have mental difficulties is going to revert to whatever outlet that they find to be most convenient. Are you saying that mere publishing of information is going to cause a spike in a cartain activity? I simply don't think you're going to be able to find evidence to substantiate that. -

People with criminal intentions are far more resilliant than many people think. I can assure you that they are not gathering their idas and plans from USA Today or local periodicals. -

The thing is that printing that type of information really does not encourage or discourage someone. If someone wants to make a bomb, drugs, etc, they generally know how to make such items. -

Well, I've seen the fireworks in every area of the park. Each part of the park has it's vantage. The only issue is if there is a tree that is blocking the view. The only time I can say that it's best on International Street is when there are fireworks placed in and around the fountain and tower.

A buddy and I were having lunch at Old Spaghetti Warehouse in Marietta a couple months ago. There was (no kidding) a table of about 30 people in full Klingon regalia having lunch there. -

I really don't see any way you could have missed this if you read anything in the thread before posting.... Sigh. Does anyone know if CF is going to continue to operate Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas? I wonder who actually owns the hardware inside the attraction? <G> -
I've said it before but will again. There is nothing like The Beast at dusk. Right when the sun has mostly gone down and the fog has started to fall over the track. It's one of the things that makes The Beast the Most Incredible Addition Kings Island has ever made to the park.

"the most exciting addition in the history of Kings Island” said Don Helbig, Public Relations Area Manager for Kings Island. Sounds like someone has been reading from the Paramount Public Relations Guide. -

Death at SFOG
WooferBearATL replied to WooferBearATL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
And that is how it is in the Insurance World. So next time ya think about the "Big Bad Insurance Company," just realize that it is likely that the park will throw some money at the family while accepting no fault for the accident. It's all about lowest ultimate cost. Sad, Sad, Sad. -
Death at SFOG

“Attorney Lamar Flatt thinks warning signs and fences placed near the ride weren’t enough to prevent this tragic death …” Ahhhh.... And now you see the crazyness that parks have to deal with. Ever wonder why prices are so high? This is an example. It's really not about the death of a teen that made very, very poor decisions or decision. It's all about the mighty dollar and what ya can get.
