Cedar Point Changes Line Policy
WooferBearATL replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
"I know for a fact this policy has been abused in the past," Schmidt said. "There are people who will rent wheelchairs and fake handicaps to avoid waiting in line, but this way those guests who are in need will still benefit." Sigh..... He knows for a fact but fails to give examples. Maybe he witnessed it? As has been said before, not everyone that is "handicapped" looks handicapped. "Seeing" and having knowledge of the situation are two different things. -
When they turned The Racer around, folk said that it had nothing to do with nostalgia. - I don't think the park has done anything to disprove or to prove this assumption. Yes, Robbie Knievel - the Clown Band - HB Characters & Wallenda's are nice additions, but how is that Underpromising and Overdelivering? I think that they performed just as stated. Isn't this simply paying or arranging for individuals to perform at the park?
-
To say that this will be the MOST exciting addition in the history of Kings Island is a statement that I don't possibly think can come true...The Beast will always be a tough one to top. I wish the park would not oversell things. I would have to agree. I can not imagine there being an addition that would be more exciting than The Beast. I also believe it would be hard to match an attraction with the staying power of The Beast. Yes, the new coaster may be a great addition, but let's honestly keep it in perspective.

Welcome to the way the world works. Another perfect example of why we need Tort Reform. -

"He didn't do anything wrong," Ferguson said. "He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time." Wrong place at the wrong time huh? If he would have adhered to the warnings, signs and fences he would still be alive. His own apathy got him killed. Yeah, on the radio they had mentioned that the family was going to be hiring a private investigator to investigate the incident. -
Could Busch Parks Be in Play?
WooferBearATL replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The parks are one thing, but getting rid of the Clydesdales would be a HUGE mistake. Part of the value of the AB brand is its strong image and presence in the US--the Clydesdales are an important part of that. One of the best commercials in the history of advertising was the Clydesdales at the WTC at the first post-911 Super Bowl. That's the kind of brand image that makes AB so strong in the minds of US consumers. InBev wants AB because of its US market share, but by fundamentally altering the company's image they risk using the very value that they want to acquire! (And, let's face it...in the big scheme of a $46B acquisition, how much are you really going to save on expenses by the cutting the horse team?) The bad thing is that these types of deals never work out well for the company being pursued...even if they can fight off the takeover attempt, there's still going to be casualities, share holder suits, etc. This type of thing is extremeley disruptive for a company. It's simply an example that foreign investors do not truly understand the American Market. I still think that it's a good thing for AB that this is occuring during an election year. -

Your thinking of the man who jumped a fence because he lost his hat which was around 10 years ago. About 5 or 6 years ago a park employee (grounds keeper) wandered into the restricted area under Batman at SFOG (very same ride this incident occurred on) and was struck in the head by the leg of a park guest as the train went past. They're actually saying this incident occurred in the same place that the park employee was killed. -

Six Flags Statement on Teen's Decapitation Last Edited: Saturday, 28 Jun 2008, 5:33 PM EDT Created: Saturday, 28 Jun 2008, 5:33 PM EDT Six Flags Over Georgia A 17-year old park visitor scaled two six-foot fences that secured the Batman roller coaster and was struck and killed by the coaster at approximately 2 p.m. today. We do not know why this person was intent on gaining access to this restricted area, as multiple signs clearly state: Danger Zone / Do Not Enter / Authorized Personnel Only. Some witnesses have stated that the individual was trying to retrieve something he had lost. Others reported that he was trying to touch the ride. This is merely speculation at this point, and we are working with park visitors and local police to learn more. No guests on the ride were injured. The visitor’s family was at the park with him, and Six Flags representatives are currently with the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. -

Well, Cobb County is a conservative jurisdiction. That meaning that a jury would not be favorable to what many liberal venues would. -

I can't think of an easy way to get into a restricted area on BatMan. I can see someone getting into an area in Superman but not BatMan. -

At least it's not $4 a gallon ... yet :)

I would suspect that the oil producing countries will not allow the prices to increase a great deal more. Remember, they have a vested interest in having people not move to alternate sources of energy. -

But considering about two weeks ago, the lowest you could find was $3.99; I just think that it's odd. -

An old, old rule of thumb: "When an insurance company (or claims representative) says you don't need a lawyer...you need a lawyer." -- Unknown, but wise No, that would not necessarily be true. I've been doing this for many moons. I don't know any claim reps that would tell someone that they don't need an attorney. That, essentially, would be offering legal advice. In the majority of claims that are received, the paralegal does the majority of the work. The actual attorney knows very little about their clients or who the represent. Most attorney's don't become involved until negotiations start or unless it goes to trial. I handle mostly high exposure claims. I can absolutely guarantee that I know the claimants better than 90% of the attorney's I deal with. -

Justice!! Ha ha! I love it. The ones that are actually in need will end up getting more money than those who just want to be a jerk. It makes perfect sense to me. <G> That's what happens when ya have a former social worker move into claims. <G>
