  1. I vote for Rubberneckin as a tribute to Elvis. After all, he was the King of Rock. As a matter of fact, I think that PKI should have an Elvis tribute show just like Las Vegas does. Viva Las PKI! Viva Las PKI! Viva Las PKI! Besides, Atomizer sounds more generic to me. Have a great day! Italian Chef
  2. PKI will have a parade? WOW! I suggested that to Jeff Siebert back in 2001 when I first interviewed him for my book. Though I'd like to think my idea played a role, I know it didn't. Personally, I'd like to see PKI become more and more Disney-like. Yes, PKI has a movie theme and thrill rides....so does Disney MGM Studios (and to a lesser degree the Magic Kingdom). And Disney has a family orientation as well....just like PKI. I think that PKI is moving in the right direction, except that it should return: 1. All Hanna-Barbera characters. 2. Grave Yard Shift (a show at the Paramount Theater in 2002) 3. Phantom Theater 4. James Bond: License to Thrill (at the Paramount FX Theater in 2000) Have a great weekend! Italian Chef
  3. I love PKI more than any other park this side of the Mississippi. However, I am greatly disappointed that the Hanna-Barbera characters (with the exception of Scooby Doo) have been removed. I do hope that the Jetsons movie will be successful and inspire PKI to bring back the H-B characters. Hanna-Barbera characters have a special place in my heart as I grew up with them and want my son (who is due in April) to love them too. Hence, I recently purchased 6 H-B videos....but I want to see the characters. Think about it, when I take my son to Nickelodeon Central, he'll see Nickelodeon characters. However, when I take him to Hanna-Barbera Land (which is MUCH bigger), he'll say "Daddy, where are all the characters?" That's my 2 cents. Have a groovy weekend! Italian Chef
  4. First off, as was pointed out the Taft Broadcasting Company (now defunct), not Mr. Lindner's company built Kings Island. I never visited Kings Island before Paramount bought it, so I can't comment from experience. However, based on my research, all the negative things things stated by people about the park while under American Financial's administration was true. Additionally, if American Financial still operated Kings Island today, I doubt that it would even be as good as a Six Flags park...let alone the greatness that Paramount has given it. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  5. Forgive me for sounding like a salesman, but The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island does include a chapter that describes dining in and out of the park. When I wrote the book I wasn't oblivious to the fact that there were many cheaper eateries outside the park. Rather than brag about my book, I'll let you read what some other people had to say about The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island. Have a great day! 6. SoB is not my favotite roller coaster at PKI, but I think it's the best ride at AZ. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  7. I think a Star Trek themed, steel, looping roller coaster would be best...especially if it were indoors. It could have a pre-show with a film and the ride attendants can wear Star Fleet uniforms. That would make it very Disney-like. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  8. Top 10 things you'd do at PKI in the (cold and snowing) winter if the park was open: 10. Play video games at Skee Ball/Redemption Arcade 9. Shop at Rivertown Mining Company. 8. Shop at Emporium. 7. Eat a meal at Mandarin Cuisine. 6. Eat a meal at Wings Diner 5. Eat a meal at Festhaus. 4. Ride TR:TR. 3. Ride SpongeBob 3D at the Paramount FX Theater. 2. Ride Scooby Doo & the Haunted Castle. 1. Ride Flight of Fear.
  9. I voted for The Beast as it my favorite ride in all of PKI. It's been there for 25 years and will surely be there for another. I know that TR:TR has many fans...but how many of you honestly think it'll be around in another 25 years? Also, Eiffel Tower, Flying Eagles, and Wild Thornberry's River Adventure are not located in Rivertown and shouldn't have been in the survey. Have a great weekend! Charles
  10. I wouldn't mind a casino, so long as it was separate from the park with separate admission.
  11. I am surprised that PKI and other Paramounts Parks do NOT use Star Trek. Disney uses Star Wars and Universal Studios uses Men in Black, ET, etc. Paramount own Star Trek, which has a huge cult following. I think that PKI should capitalize on it. Though I am not a "Trekker", I am most fond of Star Trek and am not a nerd. Additionally, I am a fan of Scooby Doo and Hanna-Barbera. Have a great weekend! Italian Chef
  12. My bet would be either Vortex or Top Gun...most likely Top Gun. In my opinion neither coaster is as great as they used to be. Additionally, I LOVE Adventure Express and would take it over TG or Vortex any day. Sincerely, Italian Chef :chef:
  13. Mrs. Chef and I both find that riding the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad to be a very relaxing experience and recommend it. Sincerely, Italian Chef :chef:
  14. Greetings y'all, I had an idea about a section for PKI-related topics. When I say PKI-related, I mean links to video games and movies related to PKI attractions. There are several video games starring Lara Croft, Scooby Doo and I think some Nickelodeon characters too. Additionally, there are plenty web sites which describe the movies at PKI (TR, Top Gun, Wings, Face/Off, Days of Thunder, Scooby Doo, etc.). Hence, I think it'd be cool to have links, movie & video game reviews (written by PKICers), etc., related to attraction at PKI would be cool. Just an idea. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  15. Here is a list of the prizes: 1. FusionDude - VHS tape of Discover Channel Top 10 Coasters. 2. Coasterguy - 2 cookbooks (1 Chinese & 1 Italian). 3. Stxbomber - SNES with 3 video games (Star Wars, TESB, & ROTJ). 4. Jeff - A Star Trek magazine. And there were some silly party favors. Dan made a very dignified speech, which was like a prize for everyone. Plus Boddah (Ryan) received a roller coaster book and a 1.5 oz bottle of Merlot as gifts for his birthday. I thank everyone who made it today and wish Ryan a happy 21st birthday. It was a great time and I hope that we will have more outings in the future at PKI and Siam Orchid. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  16. In my opinion, if there is to be a non-coaster race, Disney has already won it and Universal Orlando takes second place. So, in my opinion, it's not very likely. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  17. Thank you for your vote of confidence! As you probably know I love cooking and traveling. To date I've won 2 cooking contests and produced and starred in a public access TV program, Home Cooking with Charles, from 2002-2003. Thanks again! Sincerely, Italian Chef :chef:
  18. None of us have enjoyed rides at PKI since last year. Is there 1 of 8 of PKI's areas that you especially miss? Is there one area most special to your heart? Which is it and why? Have a great day! Italian Chef
  19. Since PKI is closed for the winter season, I'm sure there is one
  20. I voted for more theming as I think it greatly enhances a ride experience. You listed lower food prices, but not lower drink prices. In my humble opinion, the food prices at PKI are very fair for a theme park. However, the drink prices are a bit steep. Have a great day, Italian Chef :chef:

I commend your for your physical fortitude to enjoy a thrill ride in 30 degree weather. However, as a 120 lb. (lack of insulation), full-blooded ethnic Italian (bred for warm weather)...my body is not well suited for such cold temperatures. Hence, I limit myself to indoor rides. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  22. Every year the Paramount FX Theater features a major film in the left-hand theater and a minor film in the right hand theater. It is quite obvious that SpongeBob 3D will return for the 2004 season as the major film. What kind of film do you think will be featured in the righthand theater this year? Any ideas? Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  23. First of all, WaterWorks served beer, so it'd be silly for BB not to offer it. Secondly, there is supposed to be a water resort styled bar...how can they not serve beer? And thirdly, beer is very much part of Australian culture, like Coca-Cola in the USA. Good Day mates! Crocodile Italian Chef :cowboy:
  24. Great minds think alike. I join Mrs. G in missing PHANTOM THEATER more than any other now defunct ride at PKI. If you liked the Phantom Theater and didn't read my fictitious story based on it, please click on Chef's Ristorante. I wrote a story using all of the characters in PT and even added a few supporting characters. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  25. italianchef replied to The Shiz's topic in Kings Island
Being the pragmatic chap that I am....I'll say Flight of Fear. It's too bloody cold to ride any other coaster. The only other rides folks can enjoy in this weather are: TR:TR Paramount FX Theater (SpongeBob 3D) SDATHC Eiffel Tower Hence, I choose FoF. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
