From what I took it is the first 60 not to the top 60 fund raisers I did get my info from calling first giving. If there was no limit, the whole population at the park that day would get in free....lol Also not to mention you must raise your minimum $50.00 by the day before. "Coasting For Kids" will take place at Cedar Point, OH; Kings Island, OH; Canada's Wonderland, Ontario, Canada; Dorney Park, PA; Valleyfair, MN; Michigan's Adventure, MI; Kings Dominion, VA; Carowinds, NC; Worlds of Fun, MO; Knott's Berry Farm CA; and California's Great America, CA. Anyone who is interested in participating can go towww.firstgiving.com/gktw, click "register for an event" and pick the park they wish to attend and take part at. All participants must raise at least $50 by Wednesday, July 28 to take part in the event on July 29. Space at each park is limited. Ah yes, the good old days. When I first started at KI in '89, I wore a long sleeved white shirt and black pants (yes, pants... shorts were not given out for Bakery). Then the next two years I worked in Rivertown and wore blue shorts and the infamous red & white checked shirts, which we called Bob Evans tablecloth shirts. (But the girls sure did look good in those short little red & white checkered dresses! ) That's when I first earned the nickname Big Boy, because back then I wore my hair longer than I do now, and with the humidity I always got a big wave in my hair. Combine the wavy hair and the red & white checked shirt, perfect the pose, and voila, Big Boy! Then in '92, I was 19 and old enough to pour beer, so it was on to Oktoberfest Gardens and the leiderhosen! And that's the reason I work Haunt... for fun. I have a full time job, but come Sept/Oct, it's a great time scaring the **** out of people! Being a hair dresser that wave you talked about scares me already, hahaha, jk! Yes back in the day river town ride ops wore the red/white, blue/white and yellow/white checkered shirts with bluejeans. Octoberfest, wore brown shorts with knee high brown socks and white shirts with a design on them. Coney ride ops wore red and white striped shirts with blue poly pants. H.B. land wore blue pants or shorts with light blue shirts with H.B. characters all over it. Animal Safari Habitat area(az) wore safari type uniforms, tan in color. This is what I wore my first year working on Screamin Demon. Back then you did not take your uniforms home, they had a fully staffed wardrobe dept. You arrived to KI give them your name and they gave you your uniform for the day, they did all laundry and repairs daily. Was kinda nice.

Yes when it was Oscars I could bring family members to eat with me. With permission of course, but before Oscars there was the Canteen...lol EDIT: Not sure if it was really called the Canteen. That is what we called it late 70's to the later 80's.

Prolly right Terpy. Used to be a employee could not buy food inside the park (In Uniform or even out of uniform while on the clock) with the the exception of Entertainment and EMS/Fire. Lately I see employees in uniform buying product. Have the rules changed? As for the canteen they always had tastey food and cheap prices when I was there.

How are the food prices in the employee canteen these days? Anyone know?

Yes people are coming back, not all of them but they are. Like a ballgame, prices are close yet people go everyday. I do not agree with the pricing and I think you know that.

I agree with you all but coolers have been a big thing since it opened, I do understand they are loosing some business. However they will march on until CF can not take the loss anymore. IMO prices will never go down. We all speculate on this but until we see the actual numbers we have no idea. Even yesterday when it cleared up, every eatery that was open was busy. I bought food. Kelli that is true but remember things were cheaper then as was wages lower.

Doesn't matter. Even back in the 80's people complained about prices. No matter what they charge people always come back.

I think people after a period of time compare rides like AE to others like DB, you have to judge each ride for what it is.

Cincy you hit it right on the head, the location is horrible. I often forget it is even there. Out of sight out of mind.

But then again it is just a hand stamp, I would actually think there is more to worry about than stamps.

I should have got one last night before I left to see what color it was. I usually always get stamped even if I leave at 9:45pm. Why you might ask? I do not know I just always do

Actually I am the first to complain about the high prices however no matter what there will always be visitors to KI. Kinda like smoking, when prices went up again I heard countless people say they would quit. Did they? Some but majority of them still smoke. Then you have the people who are just now starting to smoke, there will always be smokers as there will always be crowds at KI . Even with high prices people will always eat at the park.

Last week mine was huge and royal blue in color.

Same here! About the same age and the Same Ride! But I really wouldn't Consider AE a very big coaster, even though it IS one of my all time favorites. MY first big coaster ever was probably the Mean Streak at Cedar Point when I was like Five. I honestly haven't though much about coasters until I rode The Beast In 2005... That made me fall in love with Coasters. My first Coaster ever was The Beastie/Fairly Odd Coaster/Woodstock Express. My first intense coaster (At least I thought it was intense at the time) was Top Gun/Flight Deck. I even though it looped! I was so ignorant! Ahh... How times have changed... Sorry for Rambling on you guys! FD is not my favorite ride and usually bypass riding it however when you first release from the lift hill it gets quiet and you slowly realize you are dangling way up there, good rush for sure.

^ And the sad part is a lot of parks have lost that old-time park feel who previously had it. It's like the magic just up and left over the years.
