I’d love to see what they can do. Talk about a dream. Phantom Theater may have been the best ride in the history of the park. What a treat. You kids have your Orion. I’m ready for my slow moving Phantom Theater.
-
My only concern with a Phantom Theatre “reboot” would be how it’s executed. It would have to be as good, if not better than the original.

Been curious about this ride for a while. Really appreciate your memories, here. You typically don’t hear a lot about this ride. Very cool!

Killer topic bump. Kings Island is severely lacking in the dark ride department. It’s a glaring issue given the history of their past dark ride attractions leading up to Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. In turn, Boo Blasters comes across as pretty lame. It’s not the worst dark ride on the world, but in comparison to the former occupants of the space it certainly doesn’t live up to the standards of the past. So… what would I do? Well, I don’t know if Planet Snoopy is the ideal location for a traditional, haunted house style dark ride. The space would be prime for a sort of revival of The Smurf’s Enchanted Voyage but with the Peanuts characters. Each scene would highlight the different seasons/holiday celebrations. It’s a great concept that would highlight the popularity of the Peanut TV specials. I’m posting they could include the shooting aspect of the attraction since it seems to be popular enough. Who wouldn’t want to shoot Snoopy? A second dark would do well in Coney Mall. This could cover the haunted house gap left by the removal of Boo Blasters. It could be generic, or tied in with an IP. RL Stine has a storied history with the park. It’d be cool to see either an original or existing story adapted into a dark ride. This is from 2008, but I’d be curious to see if Sally has the ability to create these attractions: https://www.attractionsmanagement.com/index.cfm?pagetype=products&subject=product&codeID=90873 All that said, I’d rather them develop their own idea: They’ve showed with Mystic Timber’s and Orion that they can sort of take a stab at themed attractions. They do have an issue when it comes to story telling. To this day, I honestly couldn’t tell you what the story behind those rides are supposed to be. So if they were to create and original dark ride, they’d have to put work in creating not only and impressive experience, but also a cohesive and easily understandable story to go with it. And for the love of god, screen based attractions are not the way to go. No one is expecting Disney level quality attractions at a seasonal chain park, but not everything has to be screen dominant. It’s possible to create a fantastic dark ride without them. Or at least without the ride being 90% screens. A fantastic example of a classic dark ride that’s considered one of the best in the country: Also, Sally is capable of doing incredible work if you look beyond Boo Blasters: A high caliber dark ride would do well at Kings Island.

I love it, so so much. Can’t wait to see it in person!

Given the recent refocus on the family aspect within the chain, I’d probably agree with you. But an overhaul of the Haunt experience as a whole would be welcomed I’m sure. A lot of the mazes have seen better days. I’d push for quality over quantity always. Less, but better mazes. A larger emphasis on scare zones. Maybe incorporate some other fall festival-esque activity’s like food trucks, live music, entertainment, etc. I know I more or less described many aspects of the Tricks and Treats festival. But I think there’s room for improvement for the actual Haunt event as a whole.

Regardless, I feel like a refresh of the event would be great for the park. It’s been a bit… stale for a while. I wish it was on the same level of quality as Winterfest. But if it’s been a lot of cash, I don’t see why they’d change anything.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
beastfan11 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
This is just my opinion (and in no way directed at you), but I feel like the only people who would be unrealistically upset would be the mega-entitled coaster fanboy/girl community. The marketing and hype can be as much or as little as the park’s marketing department wants there to be. The hype for the original Tomb Raider was insane. I was like, 9 and I remember it to this day. The mystery of the ride was pushed and the overall experience (at the time) was satisfying and exciting. And that wasn’t a coaster. It was still hyped as something of a similar caliber. -

Couldn’t agree with this more. They really need to do something special with that space. I’d be excited at the idea of some type of water attraction. -
I definitely think there’s an audience for German - America dishes. Oktoberfest is super popular on both sides of the river. I also use Goettafest as an example of how “German” food can be exciting and popular. I think it’d be more about creative dishes then tradition German dishes (unfortunately). That, and as stated above, desserts.

There’s a lot of work going on for 2022 in the ways of general park improvements and special events involving the 50th Anniversary. I’d highly doubt we’re getting anything new attraction wise this year. With that said, I wouldn’t be at all shocked to see the culmination of the anniversary celebration be an announcement of sorts involving some kind of unique attraction for 2023.

Coney Island Cincinnati to remove all rides
beastfan11 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Coney Island Central
The irony in "creating an entertainment destination" on the grounds of an entertainment destination that existed three years ago... I doubt they'll let the land sit for too terribly long. Flooding is always going to be an issue, but I imagine the current ownership/management would jump at the opportunity sell the land. With the race track/casino, Riverbend, Deadlow, food options dominating the area, it baffles the mind that the park could not have remained intact and expanded. They could have easily gone the route of retaining most of the rides and revamping the area to be a Newport on the Levee type place. It makes absolutely no sense to just leave all that infrastructure abandoned (or to be used as storage) in a part of the city that is prime for revitalization. I know Covid has affected every industry, but so far their promise of Sunlite's "water adventure" expansion has been limited to an inflatable obstacle course and a festival in which they planned to have an outside company bring in carnival rides, only to have it canceled last minute. That's embarrassing. Sell the park to someone else who knows how to run a park. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2021/11/24/cincinnati-coney-island-future-eastern-edge-pondered/6344346001/ -
Love it or hate it, the Wild Thornberry’s retheme/overhaul is the reason it still stands today. That said, I’d prefer it be integrated into Rivertown again.
