  1. I spent a lot of time during my teenage days running around the park and having a great time. When my friends and I were old enough to start driving, the park was one of the first places we went. We never had, nor did we encounter, any issues. Quite literally some of the best memories of my life. It’s a shame that younger guests won’t be able to experience that for themselves. That said, this is an absolute unfortunate necessity. In a post COVID world a lot of people (regardless of age) take to acting like idiots as default. We’ve all seen it the last few seasons. It’s a shame. I don’t envy the park for having to enforce this, but it seems like the right call. I’d rather have something in place like this than something reactionary. Not sure how this will work, but I’m hoping for the best for everyone involved.
  2. They typically open (what’s left of) the park around Memorial Day weekend. Looks like passholder preview is in 5/26. Enjoy it while you can!
  3. I’m regards to the landscaping… Isn’t it typically sparse this time of year? As spring progresses into summer/daily operations, the landscaping work tends to expand quite a bit.
  4. “You’re not her boyfriend, you’re her uncle.” Heard a grown woman say this to a child yesterday. No context. No explanation. Glad to be back in the park!
  5. I’d still love to the park find a way to sneak another flat in Oktoberfest. It deserves some love!
  6. I’d certainly hope it wouldn’t be as screen heavy as Berry Tales. A lot of the charm of the original ride was due to the nature of its physicality. Real sets, real props, real characters. Toy Story Mania tech is already dated. The shooter style dark ride is even more dated. The majority of the most popular dark rides lack any kind of shooting element. It’s not necessary. (I agree with you, though. That would be the most likely scenario. That said… I hope not)
  7. Man, I can’t wait to have a frozen cocktail and ride the train.
  8. I don’t know about the movies, but they sure took advantage of those poor phantoms who were just trying to make it in show business.
  9. Per Reddit. Yeah, yeah grain of salt… I hope this isn’t true. That’s quite a hit the the lineup.
  10. Looks like it’s official. Grain and Grill! https://local12.com/news/local/kings-island-adds-new-restaurant-2023-mason-ohio-cincinnati-amusement-park-chef-joseph-perez-food-grain-grill-enriques-mercado-adventure-port?fbclid=IwAR17iXF2MPxrSuqzFdjOj2ROaDG3JaWWboSIPCPVN9PIyiUXUtzuZL61KHk
  11. + Boo Blasters. That was looking pretty rough towards the end of last summer.
  12. Okay. Chill. Hypothetically speaking, if they were to allow POV’s then it would have to be clearly defined as other parks do. Also, I don’t think “problems would happen” given the fact it’s allowed in many circumstances outside of Cedar Fair. I personally don’t care either way, but obviously guests do or this thread wouldn’t have been created.
  13. I guess it comes down to why POV’s aren’t allowed. Is it because they just don’t want guests to film on rides? Or is it because of safety? Since it seems like a safety issue, I don’t see why a GoPro/360 camera would be an issue (as long as it’s secured safety). A lot of other parks are okay with it. It just needs to be clearly defined.
  14. Grow up. You can’t just make unverified claims and present them as fact.
  15. I’d love to see your source for this.
  16. Good to hear and congrats to her! Should be a great summer!
  17. Definitely Phantom Theater. But the Eagles are a close second. I still hold out hope that those tubs with make it back to KI eventually. Oh, and those blue phantoms too.
  18. I don’t know. It’s occupies a lot of real estate (much of it being wasted). I’d rather see that area redeveloped to bring a bit of “park” back to the park. Between the OG cars and the loss of Swan Lake, that area has changed a lot!
  19. I know!
  20. Looks great. The culinary options at the park have certainly been killin’ it as of late. Can’t wait!
  21. Not everybody wants to overspend on the meal plan. If there’s a Skyline literally five minutes up the street, why would I want to overpay for already overpriced meal? Especially given the fact that the Skyline in the park, while good, isn’t restaurant quality. I love Skyline and want it to exist across the park, don’t get me wrong. But I’d rather have a new restaurant on International Street and move Skyline over to the old Chick-Fil-A building. It’s a prime pieces of restaurant real estate that deserves a lot more.
  22. I don’t think Skyline is going anywhere; however, I think the rumor floating around inferred that it would be taking over the old Chick-Fil-A location (should it be leaving). That would create an open spot on International Street for something new. Grain of salt, though!
  23. Ah, a thread for me. This post is just going to be a disorganized collection of thoughts. I have to agree with a lot of what’s being said here. As a kid I was absolutely fascinated by all this type of stuff. I still am, I guess. Haha. I’ve been/still am lucky to have made it to the Disney parks quite a bit. My wife and I did our honeymoon in Disneyland this past December because we’re both super into it. I love all of the animatronic shows/rides, but have a special love for the older style dark ride attractions. If even most of the figures are static, those Fantasyland dark rides are top tier in my book. It’s remarkable how well you can tell a story with such simple props, sets, figures, and lighting. Something about it is super cozy and fun. Totally immersive. Totally memorable. I’d love to check out Knoebel’s Haunted Mansion. Looks like an absolute classic. And of course, I feel like these days I can’t pop into a thread like this without obnoxiously droning on and on about Phantom Theater. I’m sure there are some who are sick of it, but I feel like this thread is the place for it. Haha. But yes, I can’t explain how incredible of an experience it was to have a ride of that caliber in Mason, Ohio. It was truly up there quality-wise with some of the year round parks. Maybe not quite on the Disney/Universal level, but absolutely impressive for a seasonal park. It definitely brought a level of magic to the park that I feel has been lost. I’m sure the same can said about the two previous Enchanted Voyage rides, but that was before my time! Anyway, my love for the ride runs deep. Ironically enough I just had this shirt delivered yesterday: Anyone have any insight of the ultimate fate of our Phantoms? A while back someone on a Facebook group claimed to have a picture of them in the boneyard before they were ultimately scrapped. I never saw any pics before they were removed for some reason. I definitely miss seeing them around during Haunt season. Oh, also. Bring back Phantom Theater.
  24. I’m totally cool with the shed as is, but an overlay would be awesome for Haunt and Winterfest.
