Witch would you like better?

If they remove the top of the shop buildings where are they going to hide the green Intamin track?
-
Knew I recognized that tunnel! Was unsure due to the angle. Thanks for the info!

Bumping my own thread because I can. Now that I’m a big kid and have my own house I can do whatever I want. So after eating ice cream bars for dinner I decided to hang these rad pictures that I recently acquired. I bought all three on eBay and were all supposedly of Coney. The bottom two clearly show The Shooting Star and Wildcat and the other shows a great shot of the midway. The last one I’m unsure of. You be the judge!

Firehawk Leaving Kings Island 10/28/18
beastfan11 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I’ve officially heard it all. So we can go ahead and confirm that the name of the new project is “They,” right? -
How do you lose a giant crate?

Totally forgot about the Oktoberfest sign. That’s sick. That area of the park needs some love. I’m definitely over The Crypt building. That things gotta go! We need some kind of dark ride to replace Boo Blasters. I’d be all about replacing BLSC with a modern woodie with a bit of vintage style flair to fit in better with Coney Mall. Name it “Wildcat” after the classic Coney coaster to really bring everything full circle historically.

Man, those are some cool pictures. I’ll echo what others have said about the “sidewalk” in the first picture. It would be stellar is those made a return. That looks great.

Sounds pretty wonderful. I hope to see some additional “international” additions in the coming years! Very excited for this!

I think a refocus of quality vs. quantity would be beneficial. There are too many mazes in my my opinion. I’d rather see fewer well executed mazes with more personnel than more mazes that suffer the same fate as Killmart as described above. It would also be cool to have each area of the park be specifically themed or turned into a scarezone. Something like this was done years ago during the Fear Fest days with Rivertown being converted into “Sleepy Hollow. I thought that was tight. The return of Route 666 with the new Tiques would be a no brainer. Winterfest has proven that they do have the ability to go pretty immersive with their events, so if I had one wish for Haunt 2019 I guess it would be for it to get a bit of an overhaul to reflect the level of quality set by Winterfest.
-
See that’s where the issue lies with Haunt. There’s really no reason for them to invest more into the event if the numbers are doing well. But I too wish we could see Haunt on the same level as Winterfest.
-
Well, given the article was written in July (before Haunt 2018) I don’t think it could possibly make any specific reference to the attendance or quality of the events. Haunt (amongst other things) was scaled back in 2018 as a result the third quarter: Net revenue was down 2% as a result of a 3% drop in attendance. If you enjoyed Haunt in 2018 then that’s great. In my opinion (and this sentiment is shared by others) it was a little on the disappointing side in comparison to years past. Nonetheless, I’d say it was obviously scaled back. Haunt always draws bigger crowds due to the nature of the event. It doesn’t matter if there are fifteen mazes or seven. My point is that the quality wasn’t there, and that was almost expected.
-
It might have been. Cedar Fair was basically “giving away the gate,” so to speak. The forth quarter featured a number of different promotions to drive attendance and increase in park spending/revenue. That had nothing to do with the quality of 2018’s Haunt.

https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/cedar-fair-reports-revenues-through-july-4th-holiday-weekend-300678918.html While I don’t have specific numbers regarding the 2018 Haunt budget, it’s been discussed that numbers through 7/4 resulted in a much scaled back event. The results were pretty evident. That’s my opinion anyway.
-
Haunt 2018 was pitiful due to budget restraints. It was the most disappointing Haunt that I’ve been too. It’s really only up from there, I guess. I feel like th focus now is shifting to Winterfest, which in my opinion is a good thing. So, we’ll see.
-
If that’s the case then what would the 2018 work be?
-
So hypothetically speaking, we’re passed the suspicious work phase (that’s the actual construction terminology, right?) and should be seeing signs of construction just about anytime now if we’re seeing anything in 2020. And thus far we haven’t as far as all of us know. And with the rumored Giga, I’d imagine there would be a bit more work involved vs. what we saw with Diamondback given the sheer size and required land clearling necessary for the project. And with the recent flyover pictures I’d imagine something would’ve been noticed. Personally speaking, I could see 2020 as an “off” year, with something big coming thereafter given what we (haven’t) seen. I could certainly be wrong, though.
-
I’d imagine if we’re getting a coaster (regardless of the type) we should be “seeing” something in the next few months. Whether or not we’ll have the ability to peak at it before opening day is up in the air. When did that blurry photo of the Diamondback construction leak on here? It might give us a time table on when to expect something to start happening. Regardless, I’d imagine something would begin sooner than later.

Now is the time for that original paint scheme!

Fair enough. Just trying to spread a bit of knowledge. Didn’t know he was banned, so... Adios!
-
Couldn’t be more incorrect, my friend. Family style flat rides attract exactly what the name implies: Families. When families have a reason to come to the park they spend money. When they spend money... The park makes money, obviously. Coasters are always going to drive attendance and revenue, but creating a wide variety of rides and attractions that attract all age ranges will always create a better business model. There’s a reason why there’s been such success with events like Winterfest or additions like the Kings Mill Antique Autos.
-
The Carousel was made by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company and opened at Coney Island in 1926. The ride itself survived numerous floods throughout its time at Coney. Each of the horses are hand carved. It was relocated to Kings Island when the park opened in 1972. In fact, it still retains its original band organ which can still be heard on occasion at the park. There was a poster here who actually was working on restoring the band organ in its entirety. It’s far from a carnival knock off. Relocating the ride would be borderline criminal, much like the removal of the Flying Eagles (also from Coney Island) to “make room” for what now is the Backlot Stunt Coaster. And it also has an actual line most of the time.

Rare Vintage Photos of Coney Island's Early Steamboat Crews

Wow. Incredible. Thank you for sharing. -
Well, per Chad on Twitter Winterfest is apparently starting daily operation tomorrow. He invited WCPO for some Blue Hot Chocolate and a clue regarding a future attraction.
