Rare Vintage Photos of Coney Island's Early Steamboat Crews
beastfan11 replied to dotflan's topic in Coney Island Central
Wow. Incredible. Thank you for sharing. -
Well, per Chad on Twitter Winterfest is apparently starting daily operation tomorrow. He invited WCPO for some Blue Hot Chocolate and a clue regarding a future attraction.

I’m refering to the suspected B&M project that was discovered in documentation that has been posted on this site. By stating that a Dive Machine could be the next new project after “the Giga” infers that the upcoming B&M project has been confirmed to be a Giga. In reality, that’s only speculation at this point. Nothing has been confirmed about the type of coaster that could be installed aside from the documents stating that B&M will be involved. Could it be a Giga? It sure could. It could also be a Dive Machine or Wing Coaster for all we know. There has been plenty of speculation over the years on this site that will always lead to some disappointment amongst the enthusiast community. Just recently, a select few thought the park was going to spend $20,000,000 + to rebuild the failed Son of Beast because of Halloween decorations at another park. That was not the case. While there has been a lot of speculation about a Giga headed our way (alongside some impressive concepts and renderings), there’s nothing that points to it directly. It’s silly to make assumptions when none of us(or very few silent members of this site) really know what’s coming next. The assumptions about a Giga being “for sure” always give me a chuckle. That’s all.

And it’s been confirmed that the project is going to be a Giga?

There’s enough local beer and German cuisine/heritage in Cincinnati that it should not be that difficult. It’s almost like it was originally intended to serve that purpose during the park’s inception. I’ve never understood not only the misuse of Oktoberfest, but the straight up rejection the area receives. The tristate has multiple Oktoberfest’s throughout the fall. It’s something the park could take advantage of seasonally and throughout the whole operating calendar. The state of the (exterior) Festhaus is a crime against all things good. Seriously disappointing. The interior isn’t much better as far as dinning options, but that could be remedied. Coney BBQ is an example of successful food options within the park in regards to both quality and popularity. I’d love to see that applied to the Festhaus and Oktoberfest as a whole. And for god’s sake. Serve Goetta. People love Goetta. It’s German. It’s Cincinnati. Just do it. They have an entire festival dedicated to the stuff and people come out in masses for it. I’d turn the entire Hank’s Burrito Shack into a restaurant that would serve creative Goetta dishes. That would be awesome.

I’m going to be in hysterics if they announce a dive coaster in August.

In the same location? I’m thinking no. Much of the previously existing structures have been modified or removed. In general? I’d like to see it return. Maybe over the Coney Mall midway like Coney Island way back when. The old Action Theatre could be utilized as a station area.

What a day at WinterFest (assaulted, ridiculed, and more, LOL)

Oddly enough the made me take off my belt as well (to an extent). First time that’s ever happened to me. -

The Lagoon was right up the street from where I live now! A lot of cool history. -
Future plans for Firehawk's station discussion

All right! Another building that’s going to go unused for the majority of the season. -
It’s definitely been an odd season for me. Me and the old lady split back in March after three years and I wasn’t planning on getting a Gold Pass because I didn’t really have anyone to go with (my friends aren’t crazy KI nerds like I am). Between that, purchasing a house, and a tough death in the family I begrudgingly decided to take a year off. Once the end of the season began to roll around I took advantage of the 2019 Gold Pass deal so I could get a few trips in through Winterfest. 2018 was the first time I had ever done a solo trip to the park. I’m mad at myself for hesitating to do so earlier in the season. It’s an absolute perfect way to zen out a bit, have dinner, and unplug for a while. Much needed, to be honest. Overall, a great (albeit short) season for me. Looking forward to Winterfest and the Antique Autos! Picture is from my first trip of the season. One of the best nights ever.

The End of Americana/LeSourdsville Lake
beastfan11 replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Thanks for sharing. Never had a chance to make it to the park. I really dig QCD, keep up the good work, man. -
I, too, was blown away by Winterfest last year. Especially given my only frame of reference was Winterfest ‘05. Cannot wait until Winterfest this year!

Great topic and info. Thanks for sharing! -
This. That building needs to go.

Keep in mind budget cuts and maintenance costs when it comes to the removal of Firehawk. Not everything means Giga Coaster.

Firehawk Leaving Kings Island 10/28/18
beastfan11 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Not terribly surprising. Firehawk was my first coaster that was built at the park as a KIC member, so I’ll always have fond memories of obsessively checking this site during that time period. Loved seeing the photos of the construction site from the skies oh so long ago... Firehawk certainly isn’t my favorite by any means, but I spent a lot of time riding it it’s first few years after it’s relocation with friends (and girlfriends) who have seemingly moved on much like the ride itself. Good times, good times. Im excited to see what the future holds for the land it occupies, but I’m more convinced this was a budgetary issue as opposed to a removal for expansion. But we’ll see, won’t we? Rest In Peace (Pieces), I guess. -
The Amusement Park Railroad Thread

Don’t want to hijack your thread, but I figured this was the best place to post this: A pretty cool look at Knott’s! -
Nope. They should focus on enhancing what they currently serve before adding new menu items.

Kings Mills Antique Autos Path Discussion
beastfan11 replied to sixohdieselrage's topic in Coming Attractions
Its odd you mention that. While I’m not disappointed so to speak, I get oddly nostalgic about stuff like this. It’ll be weird to see that end of the mall revamped. Especially the removal of the Flight Commander pad and que. I have a lot of memories of Coney Mall as well, but the changes that are coming are much needed and much needed improvement!
