  1. The removal of Firehawk was a result of matinence costs/issues. While a new attraction can and will more than likely be put in it’s place, it doesn’t confirm any future project.
  2. I’d like to take a moment of silence for all the lives we lost in the Cilver War.
  3. Looks great, sounds great. Let’s hope it’s up to par in comparison to how they’re “selling it.” Cheers.
  4. Looks killer! Hoping for table service and decent quality food (and beer, of course).
  5. There’s quite a bit more prep work involved in building a coaster than the removal of trees. Just sayin’.
  6. We saw prep work at the end of the season before work had started on Diamondback during that specific off season (Did that make any sense?). I’d imangine with the project being presumably larger, we would have begun to see noticeable work begin at the end of last season if the ride is to open in 2020. Of course this could totally be the case and I/we just are not yet aware of it.
  7. Regarding the commencement, has their ever been a commencement filed involving a major company (B&M in this case) that referred to anything other than an installation of a new coaster? For example has work ever been done during the off season on Diamondback or Banshee that would require similar documentation? My point being 1. It could potentially be related work on a current coaster or 2. Plans can change. I’m not feeling 2020. Not sure why, but I feel like we would have seen more prep work.
  8. I guess I’m old enough to remember the flyover pictures from the then unknown Firehawk construction site (ironic). I don’t know if that was something the park gave a thumbs up on or not. Good times. Embarrassing old posts, though.
  9. Per their Facebook page. If this requires the removal of the ping pong tables I’ll be one sad dude, but this looks like a solid addition!
  10. And to this very day if you listen closely you can still hear his screams echoing through the back of Rivertown. Although, that could also be screams of disbelief when people see the price of beer at Potato Works.
  11. If they remove the top of the shop buildings where are they going to hide the green Intamin track?
  12. Knew I recognized that tunnel! Was unsure due to the angle. Thanks for the info!
  13. Bumping my own thread because I can. Now that I’m a big kid and have my own house I can do whatever I want. So after eating ice cream bars for dinner I decided to hang these rad pictures that I recently acquired. I bought all three on eBay and were all supposedly of Coney. The bottom two clearly show The Shooting Star and Wildcat and the other shows a great shot of the midway. The last one I’m unsure of. You be the judge!
  14. I’ve officially heard it all. So we can go ahead and confirm that the name of the new project is “They,” right?
  15. Totally forgot about the Oktoberfest sign. That’s sick. That area of the park needs some love. I’m definitely over The Crypt building. That things gotta go! We need some kind of dark ride to replace Boo Blasters. I’d be all about replacing BLSC with a modern woodie with a bit of vintage style flair to fit in better with Coney Mall. Name it “Wildcat” after the classic Coney coaster to really bring everything full circle historically.
  16. Man, those are some cool pictures. I’ll echo what others have said about the “sidewalk” in the first picture. It would be stellar is those made a return. That looks great.
  17. Sounds pretty wonderful. I hope to see some additional “international” additions in the coming years! Very excited for this!
  18. I think a refocus of quality vs. quantity would be beneficial. There are too many mazes in my my opinion. I’d rather see fewer well executed mazes with more personnel than more mazes that suffer the same fate as Killmart as described above. It would also be cool to have each area of the park be specifically themed or turned into a scarezone. Something like this was done years ago during the Fear Fest days with Rivertown being converted into “Sleepy Hollow. I thought that was tight. The return of Route 666 with the new Tiques would be a no brainer. Winterfest has proven that they do have the ability to go pretty immersive with their events, so if I had one wish for Haunt 2019 I guess it would be for it to get a bit of an overhaul to reflect the level of quality set by Winterfest.
  19. See that’s where the issue lies with Haunt. There’s really no reason for them to invest more into the event if the numbers are doing well. But I too wish we could see Haunt on the same level as Winterfest.
  20. Well, given the article was written in July (before Haunt 2018) I don’t think it could possibly make any specific reference to the attendance or quality of the events. Haunt (amongst other things) was scaled back in 2018 as a result the third quarter: Net revenue was down 2% as a result of a 3% drop in attendance. If you enjoyed Haunt in 2018 then that’s great. In my opinion (and this sentiment is shared by others) it was a little on the disappointing side in comparison to years past. Nonetheless, I’d say it was obviously scaled back. Haunt always draws bigger crowds due to the nature of the event. It doesn’t matter if there are fifteen mazes or seven. My point is that the quality wasn’t there, and that was almost expected.
  21. It might have been. Cedar Fair was basically “giving away the gate,” so to speak. The forth quarter featured a number of different promotions to drive attendance and increase in park spending/revenue. That had nothing to do with the quality of 2018’s Haunt.
