  1. There’s a special place in theme park jail for folks like you. I can’t imagine how you can sleep at night. /sarcasm This is the most confounding argument on this site. It’s time for everyone to move on. If this is the most unjust thing that occurs in your life, consider yourself lucky.
  2. Really cool idea! Really lame price. I’d be curious as to the specifics of the pen itself. I’ve got a handful of really nice fountain pens so this is right up my alley. I’d bite for $59. But this seems a bit much.
  3. I don’t think selling paint chips is a good look. Not for $60.
  4. A quick watch: Always cool to see footage of such a beloved attraction!
  5. “Let’s go to Kings Island. I hear there’s a new ride where you can shoot Charlie Brown!”
  6. Man, I’d be all about something like this, but with the majority of the focus being on physical sets. I have a feeling that if (and that’s a big if) a new dark ride where to be in the works, it would involve… eh. Mostly screens, unfortunately. A new dark ride experience is incredibly overdue. The park is lacking an iconic dark ride that it’s had in the past. The Enchanted Voyage/Smurfs and Phantom Theatre are still being talked about today. I don’t think that will be the case with the painfully generic Boo Blasters. They have an incredible IP to work with in The Peanuts. They also have an opportunity to develop their own idea, story, and characters with a company like Mack. At the end of the day, I’d just like to see attractions special and specific to Kings Island.
  7. Great news. Creatively, the park really pushes itself for Winterfest. My favorite time of year to visit. Can’t wait to see the parade in action!
  8. We don’t know how long or hard this took to create. I love the park, but don’t view everything through rose colored glasses. In this case, it seems like the design is “borrowed” and the Cedar Fair brand identity was incorporated for Kings Island. I don’t think it’s disrespectful to point that out. These could be directives that come from higher ups in the company for all we know. Moving on… This could be a fun contest like the slogan thing a little while back. I think it’d be cool to incorporate the vintage logo like many others have suggested. Simplifying the design elements could really help it pop. Instead of using the whole tower, why not use a silhouetted, solid color image of the top 1/4 of the tower. The “50” could be incorporated in the observation deck area and use the same text style as the vintage Taft logo. The background could be similar to @KIghostguy’s awesome book, but with different, complimentary colored angled stripes to give it a celebratory feel.
  9. Yep. It’s been bugging me all day, but I think I figured out what’s bugging me. It’s similar to the Disney World 50th logo. The colors are close, the main park icon is featured as the focal point along with the “50.” The name of the park(s) is featured along the bottom. So, it’s more or less a quicker, cheaper version of that but with less focus on the depth and quality of the design elements. I’m not a designer, but I work directly with many professionally. I don’t think this would fly in many agencies. That said, the actual Cedar Fair/Kings Island typeface/font might be in the dictionary next to bland. Letting each park have their own identity to a degree wouldn’t hurt. I don’t think a brand refresh wouldn’t be the worst idea.
  10. Yeah, I’ll echo these sentiments about the 50th logo. That is some Microsoft Paint level design work. I’m not trying to be rude, but… yeah. From a professional stand point it might’ve been a good idea to throw a few more bills if this is going to be prominently featured. Glad to hear about The Racer, though. This would be the time for that OG paint scheme!
  11. Horrible to see the stare of things. I think new management and a revitalized park is very much needed.
  12. Still confused as to why it would mention 2022 if it’s for this years Haunt, though.
  13. Here’s how I look at it: In 2017-2018 the United States experienced it’s most intense spike in Flu related deaths. Covid killed over 300,000 people in 2020. You can deny the vaccine, but you can’t deny dead people. Asking for a proof of vaccination or a negative test result isn’t a violation of anyone’s rights. I wish every park, concert, sporting event would require this.
  14. As long as the quality of the food justifies its being open. I’ve had the opportunity to eat up there and it’s truly a beautiful place. That said, I’m fearful that it would quickly devolve into the buffet style offerings we’ve seen previously. I would love to see it, though!
  15. The park has been operating dark rides in one form or another since 1972. I don’t think it’s a matter of them not being able to afford it as much as it is not wanting to spend the money. As mentioned elsewhere, the Enchanted Voyage was a pretty sizable investment when the park opened. So, a dark ride with actual, physical props and sets is certainly possible. That being said, I think it’s unlikely given Cedar Fair’s attitude towards dark rides in general. Which is shame.
  16. Wouldn’t hurt to announce something to excite people about next season to buy season passes. An announcement about a 50th anniversary celebration without any major details probably won’t cut it for some.
  17. No brainer. German Food in Oktoberfest. I went to Goettafest last night and saw a bunch of fun German dishes. I know they tried out some German menu items in the Beer Garden a handful of years back, but it was overpriced and tasted awful. I’d be so down with a Goetta restaurant, too.
  18. Couldn’t agree more. If the theming was there to begin with you’d think there’d be a plan for upkeep! It’s an unfortunate situation that tends to repeat itself.
  19. I’m sure it costs money to use those songs. Maybe that’s it?
  20. It’s not a Giga bathroom if it’s under 300 feet regardless of the height of the drop.
  21. Per their social media channels, the park has announced that the third party carnival rides previously slated for Ballon Glow will not be appearing due to a scheduling conflict. If only there was a way they could have rides available to the public during large events like these… It’s almost as if they make these decisions using a blindfold and a dart board.
  22. Very unpopular opinion I’m sure, but I have to say Orion. It’s a helluva ride don’t get me wrong. It’s just way too similar to Diamondback for my taste. Still a fun time, but it’s just not all that earth shattering as some claim.
  23. I miss the sound of the station announcements/Indiana Jones theme in the cue for AE.
  24. I never bought the “water park focus” excuse, personally. I hope the event is successful and we’ll see the return of the dry side of the park in some form in the future.
  25. Good times at Super Bowl. The current “atmosphere” is part of the charm. Haha. Hoping for lots of future success!
