  1. From what I'm understanding, it was more the legacy parks than the newly acquired parks. I'm not 100% on that though. On the conference call, they mentioned that they had an increased market share on their northern region parks, including Cedar Point, which posted record attendance.
  2. In case you haven't checked it out, VisitKingsIsland.com has gotten a little bit of a "freshen up" with some newer, more up-to-date descriptions for some of Kings Island's most popular rides. Check it out: VisitKingsIsland.com
  3. GOD I hate it when companies report in terms of EBITDA... Don't forget that the 4th quarter results are typically in a net loss because most parks aren't open.

  6. Ain't nobody said for sure that there would be a KIC day.
  7. Actually, I'd be more worried about someone wandering into the park, getting hurt, and suing the living heck out of them. There really isn't any kind of CIA operation going on at the park this year... they're not hiding anything from you. It's the same reason why your neighbors don't want you jumping on their trampoline or swimming in their above ground pool when they're not home.
  8. You've written like 10,000 articles at this point. Have you applied to any newspapers or magazines?
  9. I say what I said because when people break the rules in the park and post about it, they contact me about it if they care about what law/rule you broke, which they did with this, so they do.
  10. So tell me, was this construction sign on a public road or were you trespassing on KI's property?
  11. He's not saying that change is bad, he's questioning whether this has been a change for the better.
  12. Actually KI did a co-press release about the challenge of moving a ride from Aurora to Mason.
  13. Way cool! I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Australia. I may go next year.
  14. That'd be a good joke. Name it Drop Tower 1 and see how many people say, "Drop Tower 1 seems too intense for me."
  15. I've always preferred the old homely arenas to the newer ones. Kind of like how I much prefer the Cincy Gardens over US Bank Arena.
  16. LoL... I think he took that photo when they were setting up.
  17. Entertainment in 2007 was much improved over the last 5 years, so why would it take a step backwards in '08? And why do ride names mean anything? The rides will still give the same enjoyment that they have always given. I'd be willing to bet that you'll see a bigger, more assorted entertainment lineup from the gang at Kings Island in 08.
  18. Exactly... That should be understood by everyone on KIC. I never believed anything until "someone in the know" (Dane, Ryan, etc...) posted it or it was directly on the front page of KIC. I know I'm newer here but I still know who the "ones with info" are.... That's the sad part -- we're not "in the know" and certainly can't be confused as being park or CF spokespeople. When someone asks a question, I have the resources the get the answer for them. I take that as part of my responsibility on this site. Any of the front page info is all from press releases, I don't make that stuff up either.
  19. I'm telling you... I miss the days of KIC just being for fun more and more at times like this... it was a simpler time... it was a better time...
  20. Exactly! It may seem trivial, but it makes a world of difference in credibility.
  21. Nope, must be posted in the topic. Photos taken fall under the same rule. The source must be stated.

  23. Being a forum member on KIC carries a little more responsibility than it does with most other theme park fan sites. As many of you know, we have an exclusive agreement with Cox Ohio Publishing, which means that our site is feed through a live RSS feed to their eight local newspapers. As a result of this, KICentral is watched very closely by Kings Island, Cedar Fair, and the local media. KIC has always been dedicated to allowing people to share their thoughts, opinions, and rumors on this site, which is something that we love to read and hear about. Recently, there's been a rash of people claiming that certain rumors are "Confirmed" when in fact nothing is confirmed until it is released by the park. We came to the agreement with our media contacts, Kings Island, and Cedar Fair that anyone claiming to have CONFIRMED information from an inside source must supply the name of their source within their post. Simply put -- it eliminates a lot of the hearsay that the park has to deal with from false "confirmations" and sets the rule that if your "source" doesn't want their name posted with the information, then you know that the information is either false, or not for public display. Remember that the general rule of the internet is that you must assume that anything you post on the internet can be read by any person, at any time, forever. If you work at the park and you overhear something, don't forget that your boss, and your boss's boss, and your boss's boss's boss will likely read your post. Again, rumors are just that -- rumors. Rumors and speculation are always welcome, however if you claim to have heard information from an inside source, or claim that your information is confirmed, you must supply your source. Per TOS -- Effective Immediately: 28 January 2008, 7:33pm EST Best Regards, Ryan Post any questions below.
