  1. I'm not entirely certain what the deal is with the Buy Now, Pay Later deal. The web site took off the mention that the deal is only good through December 31st, and it looks like you can still purchase it, so until further notice, I'll keep it on the front page.
  2. At this time the topic of Winterfest isn't something that's anywhere near the drawing boards.
  3. I had a pass from 94-97 then took some time off and had one from 2003 to the present.
  4. What about Kings Island, which got a used ride last year and nothing this year?
  5. I remember having to jump from a ride...
  6. Wow! Very interesting! Next time your parents tell you to log off KIC and get back to doing homework, remember that KIC can be a social studies lesson too. ha ha I've always wanted to check out some other countries, but haven't ventured past the US and Canada. It must be really interesting meeting new people from around the world. Are the Slovakian people as passionate about hockey as the rest of eastern Europe? An interesting fact is that fighting in hockey is unique to North America. It's not allowed in other areas of the world and is cause for at the very least immediate ejection. Great trip report!
  7. They could do something small like the former Winter Soar, but they wouldn't be able to have many aspects of the park open for just one day.
  8. 10 to 1 says it's not happening... any takers?
  9. Well, then... we expect a FULL trip report. What are you doing in Slovakia, anyway?
  10. What roller coaster in your opinion had its best year ever? With less than expected downtime and a well received opening, I award Best Coaster of 2007 to Firehawk! What thrill ride in your opinion had its best year ever? Four years later and still thrill riders, this goes to Delirium. What restaurant had the best food? Going with Cincinnati tradition, I award LaRosa's this honor. What crew/area was best? If I had to choose an actual department, I would say ecology. The park is cleaner than ever. Did Son of Beast have its Best Year Ever? explain why or why not. Yes -- despite rumors of removal, Son of Beast came back with a vengeance delivering some of the most comfortable rides it has ever given. What new show in 2007 was the best in your opinion? Hands down, Dead Awakening. Clearly shows how the talent of KI can be stretched to all new levels. What was the best thing that happened this year at Kings Island? The rekindling of the entertainment department this year. It's certainly the most exciting thing that we saw. What change from 2006 to 2007 was the best? I like the cleaner park, my aggressive corporate staff, and the upgrade of Fearfest to Halloween Haunt. Did Kings Island Central have its best year ever? Surpassing 3,000 members, signing with a major media outlet, and throwing the event to end all events... this has certainly been the most exciting year from a staff perspective that we've seen yet. I hope you guys had as much fun on KIC in 07 as we did running the show.

  12. I've always liked Perfect North.
  13. Excellent find! Parks used to be a place to go and relax, not be trampled. lol
  14. Our agreement with Cox Ohio Publishing gives them the rights to put ads on the site, however they do foot the bill for the server.
  15. You hears sparing stories of people either being injured or hurt on amusement rides, but please note that you're far more likely to die from sneezing than from riding a ride.
  16. There were more than a few times this past season when I got off that Western Row exit and say these signs saying, "Paramount's Kings Island" and thought to myself, "What is this Paramount's Kings Island; did I make a wrong turn?"
  17. I agree with Bombay. Flight of Fear is a favorite of mine and I absolutely hate Mantis. That's just my opinion.

  19. If it was doomed from day one and the great experiment failed so bad, then why did CBS (Paramount) plan to bring it back for the 2006 season? Cedar Fair were the ones who cancelled it after their acquisition was completed, CBS was advertising it and even selling pre sale tickets. It's difficult to tell what Paramount's plans were for Winterfest in 06. Maybe they were going to change the pricing, maybe they were going to downsize it, maybe they were going to make it bigger and better than ever, or of course, maybe they assumed that whoever the new owners were would have to be the ones to cancel it. Actually, I remember when FF did go free, people were on the message boards upset by the possibility of long lines for Halloween stuff.
  20. Nah, it's going to be really different from Winterfest. Winterfest was doomed from day 1. We can assert that no one went because of the pricing, however the event cost so much to put on that they needed the revenue. It simply wasn't viable to charge $10 per head. Unfortunately, the great experiment was a failure.
  21. Not only that, but they didn't do much with Star Trek in any one of their parks. I know they have the Vegas thing, but that wasn't ever really a Paramount Park in my book. If they had added something to one of the parks (even a similar experience to the Vegas one) I think they could have drawn trekkies from miles around for years on end.
  22. I think you'll find the price for HH for passholders to be pretty fair.
  23. Today (Wednesday) was the last day of the year for most of the marketing staff. Likely you won't see an official calendar announcement until after the new year.
  24. Or of course they could just be trying something new in that market. Not everything they do reacts to some sort of bad numbers. That's a false assumption.
