This was a much worse incident than most of anything that's happened at KI. This was a terrible thing... I'm going to go WAY out on a limb here and say that it would have almost been easier on the park had someone died. This was a VERY graphic incident with results that this girl will have to live with for the rest of her life.

I'd go as far as saying that if it's not the tallest and/or fastest, I won't even ride it.

For those of you who haven't been paying attention to things for the past two years, Viacom split into CBS and Viacom, CBS got Paramount Parks, CBS divested Paramount Parks, Cedar Fair purchased Paramount Parks. Closing...

Longest You've Been Stuck On A Ride & What Ride
BoddaH1994 replied to WooferBearATL's topic in KI Polls
Funny story -- Dane and I were at the park one day in the 06 season and Tomb Raider had a miscatch and we were stuck on it for a few minutes. Later that day, we hung out with Maureen and her (soon-to-be at the time) family and I complained about the incident in a joking way. She joked back saying that she didn't care about my problem on Tomb Raider. Later that day, we all rode The Beast together, and they were in the train after us. There was some problem with the block system which halted the whole system for about a half hour right as the park was closing. They were stuck on lift two for quite a while, so Dane and I were excited to give her a "now you know how we felt!" spiel. About fifteen minutes after the park closed, they resolved the system and their train rolled into the station. Before I could even get a word in, Maureen hopped out of the train and very excitedly told us about how they were stuck at the top of lift two and had the "best view of the fireworks ...ever!" I guess you'll never win with some people. -
From what I've heard, we won't see a completed sign until after the first of the year.

HW Announcement Tomorrow On YouTube
BoddaH1994 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's rare that these secondary announcements are anything big. -
There's a story behind that... Way back a year ago when Kings Island first decided to remove Son of Beast's loop, Kings Island's marketing communications manager at the time, and my very good friend, Maureen Kaiser (now Richmond) called me and said that KI didn't have any photos of Son of Beast that didn't have the loop in them, and asked to use some photos on KIC for PKI.com (now visitKingsisland.com). I told her sure. I never said it was a good story...

When did you leave that position? LoL... that wasn't for you... that was for those who don't know me.
-
I want to again emphasize that I'm NOT a park spokesperson, but from what I understand, the layout won't be changing tonight. I'm not sure of that, but that's what I've heard.
-
ha... I was wondering how long it would be before this got out. The official changeover isn't until tonight. PKI.com will forward to VisitKingsIsland.com for several years, however make sure you change any Kings Island email addresses to @visitKingsIsland.com in your address books, because the email will only forward to the new addresses for a few months. PKIVortex, how did you hear about this?

You know... if each individual weren't so different then these forums wouldn't be nearly as fun... a lot less violent.. but a lot less fun too...

I guess it's a "take it for what it's worth" kind of situation, but it seems to me like she was clearly tearing the body apart at the abdomen.
-
LoL.. I'm guessing you have no idea how expensive that is.
-
I always enjoy how you say it without saying it LoL... he must know something that I don't.

Common misconception. The cadaver was actually being eaten by the nurse. Much of the stomach was torn out and that's where the nurse's head was, it wasn't what you were thinking...
-
It's kind of neat. You go uphill almost as much as down hill. Charles, how crowded is the waterpark this time of year?
-
....I was going to post the exact same thing.

It's indisputable that CedarPoint.com has a lot of fun stuff on it. While PKI.com is informative, it just lacks the personal experience that CedarPoint.com does. My question posed is, what does PKI.com need to have in order for it to be worth visiting weekly or even daily? You'll notice that CP's site has TC's blog, and some Pointcasts. Do you wish KI would get something like this, and what are some ideas that you think would be cool to improve PKI.com?

Normally, I'd agree, but the fact of the matter is, a lot of rides are trimmed up and reprofiled. A lot of people would argue that they're not as good now.
-
That information hasn't been announced yet. In the past few years, they have had days available for about two weeks to have passes processed before opening day, but that's usually not announced until the week before. Hope this helps, Ryan

lol... Looks a heck of a lot like Son of Beast.

Don't forget that The Beast had a lake under it... and it was removed for good reasons. Just remember that Kings Island has been able to add new attractions almost every year of its existance. That's not typical of a park. A lot of parks only add a new attraction every few years, so they can go all out. Nowadays, a lot more parks are adding year attractions, thus cutting into the lack of detail.
-
The likely reason that no one has beaten The Beast's record is because it's a LOT more expensive to build something like that now.

Geauga Lake land sale info
BoddaH1994 replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There is a lot of land there. More than I ever thought they had. I doubt all the land would be purchased by one entity. Thats the main reason Cedar Fair bought that park! With ALL THAT LAND, Disney or Universal could have came in and built a HUGE park and we would be seeing CP shutting down. I still think they did the right thing by closing it and I believe that was the plan from the begining. Cedar Fair put millions upon millions of dollars into the park... it just didn't work. Even last year they did certain capital improvements like removing the monorail and putting light fixtures where the supports were. If it were me, and I knew the park was going to be closed anyway, I would have just left the monorail, saved the money, and let it be demolished with everything else.
