I was walking out of the park around August of last year and got caught behind a group of about ten people. I recognized some faces, but I'm not sure if they were forum members here or members of ACE or whatever. Nonetheless, they started complaining about how KIC gets all of the attention and someone brought up that the reason why KIC gets to 'do whatever they want' is because Dane and I played for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks when Helbig was their play by play guy. False.

If anything, buckle up on the rides because it's the law.

I was wondering how you guys feel about the new deParamounted names of the rides. I picked the three most major changes (since the forums only allow for 3 polls per topic) so let's share our opinions.

Again (and those of you know who a lot about web programming can back me up on this) if they were going to change anything with the web site, they'd do it offline and seamlessly upload it. The change would take a matter of seconds, not days. If anything, this is an indication that it truly is just maintenance. They could be working on the mainframe or something.

I don't have any information beyond what was supplied in the above post. However, I was told to warn you guys of the downtime when it occurred so you wouldn't get your hopes up. Plus, if they were going to launch a new site, it would take 30 seconds, not two days. Maintenance on the other hand can take days depending on what's going on.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if that license is expanded much further than 4 years. Well at the time Cedar Fair took over in 06, the Nick name was in its 1st year. I think they should keep it too. Makes it to where you have 2 different cartoon names in one state instead of just one. Better for all partys. Cedar Fair has the inherent rule of doing what works. So you're probably right. They probably kept Snoopy for a reason, just like they'll probably keep Nick for a reason...

Jungle Jim's is an international market, however it's best known for some wacky antics and interesting decor. You can find old animatronics from KI and Americana there, as well as several different relics from the greater Cincinnati area.

If you take Western Row all the way back to the Little Miami River you can follow its path behind the park. Looking at the map, you get relatively close to The Racer, but you're abruptly stopped by some guy's gatehouse.

There were two press releases about Firehawk, a typical fact sheet and one that was all about how to move a ride from one location to another. It was no secret for us.

That's probably why the parks don't put too much stock into any recognition from any group. From ACE's web site: Requirements seem arbitrary, if anything unsafe. In fact, the criteria is vague to say that least, "..headrests, or the majority of seats" Majority of seats? So if you have headrests on 50% of the seats, you're ok, but not 51%? The rules certainly imply this, but I've heard that a coaster classic absolutely needs to be wooden. I think that's completely out of date in today's day and age. Look at rides like Magnum that changed the face of roller coasters forever. Don't get me wrong, I understand the intention, but what the criteria they're listing is extremely rare to say the least, and there are many rides that don't (and never) met the requirements that played a pivotal roll in the history of the coasters.

Classic... Landmark... either way ACE just leaves a plaque outside of the ride. I plaque that has a mountain and stars on it and will likely be removed before the season's start.

Had to swing by the park today. Nothing to report on the progress of the sign.

While our friends at Carowinds do have a very nice sign, I'm very impressed with Kings Island's sign.
