That's because in all probability in many ways the new sign is just the old sign with a remodel. Saves money and is good for the environment, too. And most people will never know and think the sign is totally new. Just like coaster clones, no one but the most avid enthusiast (park, cultural, designer, etc.) could even draw from memory or describe what the old sign looked like, nor cares if it looks like another sign at another park or park chain. Most people pay only a little bit of attention to such things. Yes, it's important and an icon for the park, but by far the majority of people only occasionally look at it, they do not normally study it. Yep, that's true: From page 1 of this thread:

There's simply nothing to report. Of course, that is not a forward-looking statement.

Great Ohio Coaster Club
BoddaH1994 replied to JacksonPKI's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The walkback thing was something that was supposed to be discussed at No Coaster Con, but since the cat's already out of the bag, I'll give you the lowdown. The walkback has been a tradition for several decades now. It started with the late PR director for Kings Island, Ruth Voss. She used to take a morning spin because she believed that it helped her arthritis. She began to invite certain members of ACE to join her, and the tradition of having a morning walkback to The Beast has been in place ever since, in honor of Mrs. Voss. Times have changed with Kings Island. Back in the late 70s and early 80s lines for The Beast were hours long by noon, now you can ride The Beast with a minimal wait on almost any day. There's simply more to do at Kings Island... more ways to disburse the crowds. Anyway, believe it or not, it is a hassle to do the walk backs. They have to have certain people in certain places in order to have guests backstage before the park opens. Despite that, the staff at Kings Island really values the tradition and really wants to continue to do this special perk for enthusiasts. Since numbers range from having one person wanting to do the walkback to dozens, it's difficult to justify doing it on many days. There are many credible coaster enthusiast groups out there now, so in the interest of modernizing the tradition, Kings Island has chosen to allow all major coaster enthusiast groups to participate in the walkback. Please note that the list of eligible groups is TBA. All participants must have a current coaster membership card in order to participate. Membership cards will be checked daily. Hope this helps, Ryan -
The night photos of the sign look really nice. You'll notice that in the darker hours, you'll be able to see a white halo behind the lettering.

I sure hope that when you're referring to "Ryan" you're not referring to me, because I honestly have no idea what the heck you're talking about. My statement was just my opinion. If I were a decision maker at Kings Island, FoF would get all sorts of care, but unfortunately, I'm not... not until the hostile takeover!!!!

I can honestly say that Paramount spend more in one year of Tomb Raider's upkeep (and take that for what it's worth) than Cedar Fair will spend in ten years on trash cans. Trash cans are cheap... themeing is VERY expensive.

If you purchase a Platinum Pass from VisitKingsIsland.com and have it PROCESSED at Knott's Berry Farm, it'll still be a Kings Island Platinum Pass.

Just a couple of facts: The new part of the sign was manufactured by the same people who made the Paramount sign 2 or 3 years ago. The lower part of the new portion of the sign is actually the same as the old sign. It was simply refurbished and the new Kings Island logo was installed. The construction had been pushed back a few times for the completion of this project. The equipment used to install such a massive structure is very expensive to rent so it requires that the construction be done in one day. As a result of this, they had to pick the perfect day to install the signs and today was the day. Special trucks needed to be used to move this structure. The Kings Island logo-portion of the sign is roughly 13.4 ft, which is only slightly shorter than some overpasses. This required a shorter truck than what you typically see on the road. The dimensions of the new sign are approximately 42' x 72', which is a few feet shorter than the Paramount Sign since they were able to save a little bit of space by not having the large Paramount logo on it. The new facade will be redone entirely. The sign is coated in a thick weatherproof vinyl which gives it the appearance you see. In the next few days, new vinyl will be installed and the sign will be repainted yet again to give it a like-new look. In order to do maintenance on the sign, you can stand at foot of the sign and use a series of ladders and catwalks and make it up to the very top of the structure without having to use any other equipment than what's permanently installed.

The photos are now in the gallery, here. The sign was supposed to be constructed from 9-12, but the ODOT wouldn't allow such a huge object to be transported during rush hour, so they wouldn't let it leave Columbus until 9am. Construction started around noon and the top part was being welded around 3:00.

Geeze, people. It just happened! I need time to upload. Give me ten minutes.

I think you're missing the point. He's been making one-word and pointless responses for over a month now. It's not an isolated incident.

ACE held it at Kings Island for several years. Brian always put a lot of heart into this event and his hard work showed. Unfortunately, the IR has been booked up for almost all weekends in February and March to conduct interviews as Kings Island prepares for the 2008 season.
-
Due to problems outside of anyone's control, Kings Island will not be hosting ACE's Winter SOAR this year. From what I have heard, they're looking for another venue to host the annual event.

I'd get to the park about an hour early. The line does build up rather quickly in a lot of cases. Keep checking KIC, for the past few years they have opened up pass processing a week before the park has opened in order to help alleviate the lines, however we do not have any official word on whether that program will return or not. Hope this helps, Ryan

I've ALWAYS wanted to ride the BTTF ride at Universal, but unfortunately now I never will. But anyway. I really like the theme of FoF, I just wish they'd give the existing themeing a little TLC.

Ron Toomer did however design Magnum XL-200, which is an excellent ride.

Geauga Lake Sells All Their Rides...
BoddaH1994 replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I don't think that's necessarily true. Take The Voyage at Holiday World as an example. They were all up on the fact that it was so fast and forceful. One season later, it's noticeably trimmed. Unfortunately it seems like there's no way to truly calculate the affects of the trains on the track until they're really there. -
This Maestro character must be running as an independent.

I just think that Jimmy Neutron lacks the necessary political experience.

I'm a big BTTF fan and I go against most other fans in saying that Pt 2 was my favorite. I really like the scenes in the future.
