  1. I had a similiar experience when the final breaks mis-caught. No big deal, but certainly fun.
  2. Sunday wasn't too terribly bad either.
  3. Since it's early 07 and no clues have been officially dropped about the 2008 attraction, what do you guys think it'll be? Speculate away.
  4. There was a good reason why they didn't release the Firehawk information. First of all, the plans were not set in stone until after the season, and then they had trouble coming up with a name.
  5. I wouldn't really say "anywhere". Son of Beast sits in a valley and I think it's shocking how non-prevalent that massive structure is from the highway. I would guess that Congo's ridership isn't that great. The ride isn't that high of capacity and it still rarely sees a line. I wonder how much money they make off of Timberwolf. It makes me wonder if it's worth having it. I'm not saying that you're right, or trying to hint at anything, but the speculation is a viable option for the park.
  6. The system for Firehawk has been rewired per lesson learned from Stealth.
  7. ^ I agree, if there's one thing King Island's lacking, it's a world class kiddy area.
  8. Actually, I see it the other way around. If your a gold pass holder, you're probably in the park several days a season so you can afford to blow half a day on one ride.
  9. Sorry you missed Firehawk today. It had a 3 hour hiccup in the morning which delayed its open, and then went down a few times in the evening due to weather, but it certainly was open. I rode it. Good luck on your next trip, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
  10. ....and that's exactly what they do NOT want you to do. That's why the prices should be more reasonable, so even if they're higher, at least it's far more tempting to keep your money in the park.
  11. Yeah, hopefully having a career job is more important that roller coasters. Thank you, I almost made it one question with a bunch of random choices but then I realized I could add more questions with multiple choices. I'm actually studying marketing and would like to do work in the amusement industry. My friend Dane and I even run a site dedicated to this little park just outside of Cincinnati.
  12. I know you guys are going to crucify me for this, but do you think it'll have long lines when it initially reopens? I mean, the ride IS pushing a year of closure.
  13. Since Cedar Fair is like most other chains and rarely adds rollercoasters two years in a row, that would put the earliest coaster addition in 2009, which will make me 26 years old. Hopefully I'll have a good career job by then, so I can't guarantee that I'll be there, but I certainly will have the passion to be there. Excellent use of the new forum poll tools!
  14. Although I do agree that they did a WONDERFUL job with the area, I do agree that it leaves a lot to be desired with shade. Those little canopies are completely worthless. They didn't even really block the rain when it hit. Seems as though a big shaded area would be really nice for a ride which doesn't move people as much as some others. Other than that, the ride is amazing, the area is beautiful, and the crew seems very alive. Keep up the good work KI!
  15. Unless someone is unusually oversized, I think they'll be fine. Comfort may be another issue, but I certainly see them fitting on the ride.
  16. 3.5 hours including waiting for it to open.
  17. Actually, there's a new park policy in which at the slightest sight of rain, all coasters shut down now.
  18. Firehawk? No. X-Flight? Yes. I'm getting there early tomorrow to TRY to get an early ride in, if the machine cooperates. ha
  19. Actually it was four pieces to install. Not only that, but it's not just a matter of brining in a crane and installing a few new pieces. Think of it this way: How will the forces be changed on the rider? On the train? How will this change the forces and velocity for the rest of the cycle? All of which are things that seriously need to be considered when changing anything with a ride.
  20. The Firehawk crew said that the other side of the track won't be opening till another week, and it'll only work during weekends. =[ According to a park official (as of the offseason) they intended to run both sides except for VERY low attendance days. Of course, there are a million factors going into this, but I think that's a more reasonable claim, especially in the peak season.
  21. You're right.... for now. The capacity is 400 riders per train, so right now it is 400 an hour. In the near future, it'll be 800.
  22. Seriously. They should change the name to something that actually applies to the area... like "Fort Excessive Ride Times" Personally I don't think the ride times there are excessive at all. I think you may be referring to waiting times.
