We're not sure. There has been speculation over the past week or so as to whether or not both trains would run today, which it didn't.
-
They are also running only ONE train, FYI.

I think of it this way: I paid $14 and got more food than I could eat. Proportionally speaking, it's one of the best deals in the park in my eyes.

Kings Island, Ohio NOW YOU CAN FLY!...at Kings Island beginning Saturday (Memorial Day Weekend) as the park celebrates its 35th anniversary with the much-anticipated opening of Firehawk, the park's 14th imaginative roller coaster. Firehawk, the innovative flying roller coaster, propels riders 115 feet in the air and through five inversions at speeds of more than 50 mph – all while the riders are facing the ground, giving them the inconceivable experience of human flight. To celebrate the opening of Firehawk, Kings Island is giving away special commemorative Firehawk T-shirts to the first 2,500 riders each day from Saturday May 26th through Tuesday May 29th. The new Firehawk roller coaster is located in the Coney Mall themed area of the park. After boarding the coaster, riders are lowered backward to begin their ascent up a 115-foot-tall lift hill, only to be flipped over and jetted at top speeds through ½ mile of steel track over the course of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Also opening Memorial Day weekend is the park’s Boomerang Bay, one of the greatest water parks in the Midwest. Gates for Boomerang Bay open at 11 a.m. This Sunday, May 27, is also the last chance to buy 2007 Gold Season Passes at a reduced price and with the free Gold Pass benefits. For more details, visit www.pki.com or call (800) 952-PASS [7277]. Click here to see opening day photos of Firehawk! Keep checking KICentral.com for the latest news, rumors, photos and information about Kings Island, including the new for 2007 Firehawk! Regards, Ryan

I know a lot of you have been diligently waiting for this tasteful news, the Panda Express is now open in the Festhaus at Kings Island! Personally, I ate the 3 entree meal and it was just shy of $14 including a large drink. The food there is wonderful. I highly recommend that fried rice and orange chicken, it's excellent. Oh yeah, and don't forget your complementary fortune cookie!

For you season passholders out there, Kings Island now offers season-long locker rental for the ultra reasonable price of $31 for the entire season! This offer is available ONLY to Gold Season Passholders.

I'd call KI's GR number at 1-800-288-0808 to make sure.
-
In past years, the May deadline was the purchase date, not the processing date.

Will You Be There Saturday For Firehawk's Opening?

I'll probably be there Sunday as well. -
Firehawk to Debut Saturday, May 26th!
BoddaH1994 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
For those of you who haven't ridden, loose articles aren't as big of a deal on Firehawk as they would be on Tomb Raider, for example. Of course, I encourage you to secure all loose articles as directed, but things such as your cell phone and other reasonably sized pocketable items should be fine if kept on you. -
Conneaut Lake Status

Truly sad. At least they took a shot at reopening it. I know a lot of parks close for good very unceremoniously. -

Firehawk to Debut Saturday, May 26th!
BoddaH1994 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
We saw the ride at different points of the day. I know that when they were cycling it, they had both trains in the station, but afterwards one wasn't in the station... probably either at the bottom of the lift or on the transfer track. Both are pretty much out of eyeshot. -

There are two cars on the track, and no, the cars have maintained a laying position. -
Probably new fiberglass. The trains have had a major overhaul with new restraints and a whole new wiring system.

At this time we have not gotten official word as to whether it will be running one or two trains. Fortunately we do know that they are both in their respective stations (at least they were Saturday). -
I made an official thread here. A special shout out goes out to Corey Butcher for being the first to post about this.

We were buy the carousel saturday and heard the opp say it was from 1926. I also think a CD player is wrong bring back the organ. The carousel is from 1926 (PTC #79) but the band organ predated it.

KI's a little more lenient than most parks about rides being open in the rain. Unless the forecast looks really bad, I'd say it's worth going.
-
I'd pack a lunch and perhaps even bring some sleeping bags.

Also, don't forget that if you choose to use the temporary pass to scan in it makes the pass valid only THAT DAY. So make sure you have it processed the same day you go, no matter what.
