I know this idea has been tossed around but I'd make a bigger and better Phantom Theatre. It'd be difficult to top that.

I highly highly doubt it'll change any time soon.

Let's not forget that Top Gun was sign, sealed, and delivered by the Linder administration. Paramount just rethemed it before it ever opened.

It's too soon to really know how well they will do. But if you saw the interview with Dick Kinzel, he stated it usually takes 3-5 years for CF to make the changes to the parks it buys. Don't judge CF by this one year. Be patient and let's see what happens. I'm talking more like Paramount over the past decade vs. your current impression of Cedar Fair's influence.

I do NOT believe that for one second. The Gold Pass thing wasn't to boost season pass sales. If it were, it would be ongoing, not end in late May. The Gold Pass deal was to increase early season pass purchases, thus yielding more visits to the park in a season, this yielding more money made. The reason why season passes are down is because CBS allowed the park to decay last year and it's going to take some time for the GP to realize that Cedar Fair is dedicated to a clean, safe, fun, entertaining, and well-serving park. Their business depends on it.

Based on your experiences over the past few weekends of operation, are you confident in Cedar Fair's ability to run Kings Island? Will it be restored to the old glory of the 70s and 80s? Will we see a thrill ride boom? Will Cedar Fair run the parks as well, or even better than Paramount Parks did? Ryan

I certainly think they should offer separate admission that will only grant you access to Boomerang Bay, but I doubt KI would do so well with another season pass change.

If the rides change names, it won't be this season.

I've also noticed how they ignorantly left out a compass rose... now how am I supposed to find the buried treasure?

May not do it anymore but they sure did it before. He was with our church group and I was there when they handed him the sig stuffed animal and told him to walk around the park with it! I remember it clearly because I was hoping he didn't want me to do it cause it was hot that day!! hehe Oh, and when we worked with our church group we wore tan pants and a white, or blue, shirt. We had no official park uniforms or nametags. uhm well i've been working there for 8 years now and we've never done anything like that I'm not saying that KI does it now... or has ever done it for that matter, but that was a common practice in the past for amusement parks.

Flight of Fear, 6 hrs in 1996. Line started at the Zephyr, you had to queue through temporary 'bicycle rack' queues on the plaza, queue under the press area, queue in the hanger and then finally ride with those lovely OTSRs.

It still says Flight of Fear. I'm guessing that will change once Firehawk is open.

Yesterday we had the privileged of taking a tour of Kings Island during its weekday downtime. Although guests are still only in the park on weekends for now, during the week the park is certainly still alive. Firehawk is now a complete circuit and the additional photo booths, greeter station and plaza are being constructed. Don't forget that Firehawk is scheduled to be open on Memorial Day weekend! Many of you have noticed that the Coca-Cola Cool Zone was removed from the area outside of The Beast. Don't fret, a brand NEW Coke Cool Zone is currently being built right outside of Coney Mall! Also, construction continues as the final preparations are made to the Paramount Theatre for the Endless Summer on Ice show! The frozen sand base is down and it's ready for the final thick, skate-worthy sheet of ice on top! I'd say get the thing working properly and then decide.

Wood coasters are turbulent by nature, so I'd go with the above and say that if you still intend to ride them. Also don't forget that many steel coasters, especially Adventure Express, have very strong lateral forces. At the entrance to each ride there is a posted Fun and Safety guide outlining several things including ride elements and medical condition warnings. I'd highly recommend reading those and following the guidelines. Don't forget, you know your limitations much better than Kings Island does.

Funny that you say that. When Arrow was developing the first log flumes Karl Bacon, Ed Morgan as well as the designer Bud Hurlbut wanted to build a ride that would get you drenched but Six Flags Over Texas wanted them to design the ride so that you wouldn't get wet at all. After several tweaks and several guest surveys they asserted that most people wanted a ride that would get you "a little wet." Looking at rides like Congo and WWC, I'm guessing that assertion has changed.

Just go on aceonline.org or i am guessing coasterbuzz.com. These are the 2 major clubs the put on events at Kings Island. If i am wrong about CoasterBuzz please correct me. Coasterbuzz does allow non-members at their event.... but there still isn't going to be one at KI this year...

They may have changed this, but I know last year they sold Calzones at the LaRosa's in Rivertown.

That statement is not true. Beastbuzz is open to everyone, you just get a discount if you're in the Coasterbuzz club.

I see it this way: if it's your first time visiting a park and you're willing to drop another $20 or so to ensure that you get to ride 3 or 4 of the best rides, then so be it. I don't think that the program will be so popular that regular guests will be angered by it, but it would benefit some people.
