An enthusiast group had a meeting about how they could help Americana reopen earlier in the summer. I e-mailed them and said that they were more than welcome to utilize PKIC to get to a lot of you people (as Pat said, childhood memories etc). Anyway, they wrote me back and said that they didn't intend to have a second meeting because it was likely that the park would be purchased by a businessman who had an interest in the traditional family amusement park, and they fully intended to reopen as soon as they could. Never heard from them again, and the park remains SBNO... I guess he didn't buy.

I'm not entirely certain that your statement is true. I think it has LIM cabnets all the way down the tube. If you take the speed as opposed to time intervals, you're going to get the average velocity. The only way to get the instintaneous velocity (which would merit the 0 to whatever launch) would be to clock it as soon as it leaves the LIMs. Has the launch been slowed down? I really don't know, but it does feel like it has. Of course, in 96 when the ride opened, the launch concept was new to our park, so of course it felt amazing. That was eight years ago, though. I guess if you get used to it, it does seem to give the illusion that it's slowers. Back to IJST. I'm sure this has been said before, but as far as launches go, you're looking at two stationary launches and a booster.

Actually, i was more wondering why they'd be walking and first be by The Racer, then in HBL, and then by the Eiffel Tower within seconds... You guys probably also noticed that in the backround you could see the scooters on the Coney strip, where they belong.

No, its wrong, for reasons I cannon't tell you. Man, everything PKI related is always "restricted." First the lights on TR:TR which were because of "reason we can't tell you" and now you can't tell us the launch speed on FoF? Why not? It's not like there's any liability issues. It doesn't make sense, so much info about the park is "restricted", but it's only an amusement park!!!! Dane-How do you know all this stuff that we can't know if you don't even work in the park? If you don't know about it, there's usually a reason behind it. It's not anything stupid. Dane knows stuff because he KNOWS people.

It's cheaper than having a real employee warn you about the dangers of entering the theatre.

Man.. I hate to close topics, but this is going to turn into World War 3! No one died. Closed...

I disagree. If you had little knowledge of the park, it would be hard to even know where to go with the questions. Granted, it's hard to find a person who knows how many light bulbs are on The Vortex's sign off the top of their head, but there were a lot of questions that, due to our teams knowledge of the park, knew exactly where to go, thus saving lots of time. We'll just have to see what Steve-o comes up with for this Beast Thing.
-
BEAST THING?? Yeah, Beast thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm am looking forward to it. PKI's marketing team has never failed me. I wonder how similar the game will be to Steve-o's game at Beastbuzz.
-
I'll be there at The Beast thing.

Not even derailment. I believe a wheel poopped (or something like that) brining the train to a sudden hault. That's all that happened.

Woooow... do you need to lay down after that one? He is correct, there have only been a small handful of deaths in the park. Things like the fountan incident and The Bat incident simply aren't true. Any kind of major injury or death at the park is public information, so I do advise anyone who is going to seriously comment about it to research the facts before they make untrue or misleading comments about serious issues, such as safety. The subject of this thread is whether or not PKI is haunted, which a lot of people believe is true. Not too many credible incidents of ghost sightings at the park are directly related to deaths which have occured there. A friend of mine, who was in entertainment in the 80s, has told me several stories of strange incidents that have happened at the park, mainly the Paramout Theatre, which is believe to be in the approximate spot in which the old farmhouse was located before the existance of the park. You'll notice that most sightings which are more widly accepted are of things that would not be connected to park-related deaths.... for Christ's sake people, there's a cemetary on the land.

Great pics, Sparky! It makes me really want to go back to Kennywood. So how was the trip?
-
Halo 2 tourneyment - We'll organize one on XBox live. Park tour - I really don't think I could pull something like that off.. lol. Plus, what is there to see? I'm sure you'll have all of the construction pics on here. Party in Dayton - I hard how you were robbed at "gun point" at your other job. Do we really want to be in that part of town?
-
It's less a matter of cost, and more a matter of availability. Anyone got any connections?
-
You never really know about the Nick Theatre. Right now it's just a pavilion, but they could have plans to renovate it. They might have just utilized it for the meet and greet this year. If not, yeah, I can see it going.
-
Actually, if you're good, you can win them rather easily. I know a couple of friends of mine were able to win several of them per day without spending too much money. Then again, I guess that's an acquired skill.
-
What are you talking about?
-
Those games where you hit a button to move an arm to knock gameboys and that sort of stuff into the chute.. those used to have zippos in them.
-
Unfortunately, a lot more people missed out on the even than should have. It really was a great experience.
-
Yes, and it's $15 for Paramount passholders who ARE members of ACE and $19 for Paramount passholders who aren't. I figured most of you fit into that demographic.
-
Are we free to walk around, or do we have to remain strapped into the King Cobra train?
-
What kind of FoF behind the scenes tour is it? Do you actually get to go into the drum?
-
It was like Easter, but minus the "large crowds".
-
I have heard the stories of the girl who plays in Boomerang Bay as well. I have also heard from a former employee that the Paramount Theatre is built on the location of the old farm house from the days before the park was built. Apparently weird stuff goes down there, but I've never noticed anything.

I agree, the park is really creepy at night. In fact, it's almost a little creepy on dead days. Simply because it's an area that is normally full of activity is sudden vacant. I think the haunted thing is sketchy, but anything's possible.
