Because people don't have the patience to wait during the fireworks show? That seems a bit drastic.

I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?

But that is the type of job they were expected to get. From the WISE site: Exactly what kind of job do you expect for $6.50 an hour? But they were supposed to get only the basics, and were well aware of that. Actually, when it comes down to many people, it's the "fanboys" of a site that are the most critical of a park. And everything that I found, took just a couple of clicks of a mouse button, KI had nothing to do with it. So far, it seems that what these kids have is what they were supposed to get according to the WISE website. It's just that, they expected more. And if they were one of the 50 where housing fell through, and got stuck in a place that was not as nice as where the other internationals are staying, they are feeling slighted and feel the need to go to the media and complain about it, instead of doing the stand-up thing and dealing with KI directly. Isn't it funny that the "I" team did not investigate the other internationals' housing that is not located in West Chester? Heck, they were not even mentioned. Now if KI did not meet the standards for shuttling these kids back and forth to the park, then shame on them. But at this point, that appears to be KI's only fault, and they have since rectified the situation. This is the part I find very intresting: - So WISE also had to approve where these kids were living and what they are paying for, not just KI. Something the "I" team failed to mention. - They get affordable health insurance, with no deductable. Now I can see where some of the $3000 is being spent. - They have use of a Emergency, Toll Free 24-hour Assistance telephone number. But called the media instead? That is intresting. - They get full support from WISE, and just do not rely on KI. So did WISE just forget about these kids? Or did these kids just expect too much? Because, at this point, that is the direction it appears to be going. - They get a detailed handbook of things to do in the area. And according to the apartment description, there is public transportation for the complex. And that statement alone should really explain on how the general public will believe everything they hear. -

Well that makes sense. But it brings up other questions (not necessarily for you Gordon ): Why did the article state that the internationals could be deported if fired from KI since their VISA is sponsored by another agency? Because that is the way it sounds. From the WISE website: -AND- Why would "Miguel" be upset about the $3000 he spent on travel to work at KI, if he would be working elsewhere? -

I did some checking around. I don't get the $3000 for travel expenses. I searched for tickets from the Dominican Republic to Cincy, and at most the tickets cost about $1000. Where is the other $2000 coming from? -
Bad Year For Park Rides
Browntggrr replied to WooferBearATL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Above and beyond. Sometimes it's the little things that make parks like Kennywood stand out. -
I can see why people don't like the whole locker issue. But I have also noticed that people will bring in huge bookbags filled with who knows what. I actually encourage the locker policy. It will cut down on wait times for the rides since people bring all this stuff with them. And we have been complaining about ride wait times for years, now we are complaining about lockers and the cost to use the service. Sometimes people are just not ever happy.

http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story.aspx?...2a-f8b5321418d1 According to their website, the story has been updated today at 12:19pm. I really don't see a whole lot different, except the bus thing. -

That alone is HUGE! I went to PIB for a weekend last year with 6 friends for a bachelor party. We rented a cottage for $1200 for the weekend, and the cottage had a full kitchen with 2 outside grills. Needless to say, it was cheaper than the normal hotel room due to the kitchen and we brought all our own food. -

If it's the money, don't pressure your parents. You have been to KI and CP, and are now in Florida. I'd say you have had a pretty good summer already! -
I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?

You are correct, the pictures don't show things like that. And that is the point I am trying to get across. Is it's KI's fault that the apartments are like that, considering the glowing specs given through apartment search sites that I found; or is it the apartment managements' fault for letting people live like this and giving false descriptions of the living conditions? If you think about it, the amount of KI workers living there is a very small percentage to all the residents there. Why did the TV station make it look like a KI issue, and do an "I" team investigation, when it really was not a KI issue but (according to you, and I am not disputing what you have seen or know) a slum lord issue? The quick answer I can see is that the "I" team has done slum lord investigations in the past. So another "I" team investigation on slum lords would be just that. But now if you put "Kings Island" in the title, it sounds like a brand new story, and a shocking one at that. That would be sensationalization at its best- gripping the viewer with a catchy title. According to the links I found, it sounds like a great place. We really don't know what kind of time constraints KI was under to house these internationals. We also don't know if the entire property is like you described, or, if it only a few units. For all we know a KI representative could have actually looked into the apartments, saw some good looking ones (like the ones in the pictures), and felt satisfied with the conditions. And here is the real kicker: we are just a bunch of internet fanboys of a certain park. Look at the information we thought of, and the information we found. I find it difficult to believe that this so called "I" team could not think and do some of the same things. And they do these "investigations" for a living. Unless they had ulterior motives... -

BGA is a great park. It is more of a thrill park themed to animals, but definately something that I would not miss if I was down in that area of Florida. Most of the coasters BGA has are all really good. And, being a Busch park, the atmosphere is among the best of any park. What are their issues with BGA? -

Here is a video of the CP Chaussee: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeLaOrx6QgQ...feature=related As mentioned earlier, the Causeway and Chaussee are two different roads and used by the many residents that live along the waterfront as well as the residents that live near the CP parking lot. BTW, if anyone would like some nice views of Lake Erie, take the Chaussee. But be careful, the police (not CP police) watch that road like hawks when CP is open, especially near CP's start and end of day hours.

I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?

If $300/ month includes all utilities (water, electric, garbage, maintenence, internet, cable, phone, fridge) they are getting a DEAL! I am going to guess that KI signed the lease for these students, since they are from another country. I am also going to guess that things like cable and phone were also taken care of by the park for the same reason. And after listening to the area that they are living, it does sound like it is not the nicest of areas. But according to these links it does not sound too bad: http://www.apartmentcities.com/Ohio/d/wood...the_lake_OH.asp http://www.forrent.com/apartment-community...ile/1031895.php http://www.rentalguideapartments.com/Apart...gId/165809.html Read into the story a little bit. KI did admit that housing for these internationals did fall through at the last minute, and they found these apartments at the last minute. From that link I found, it does not sound like that bad of a place to live. I'm not saying that it is a good place, but from the link, it does not sound bad. So is it really KI that should be investigated, or should it be the management group that operates the apartments? Because from the way it looks, if it is as bad as described, the management group is as guilty, or even more guilty, than what KI was blamed for. -
....and people criticize CF for an insane amount of garbage cans in their parks. It is easier to collect and dispose garbage from a can than it is to collect garbage from the ground.

I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?

The employees also stated that they were surprised that there was no furniture supplied to them and that there was no internet access. Yet, they were not to be supplied furniture and they do have internet access. So how can the students try and claim that they tried so hard to contact an HR person when other issues they brought up are false? I also find it hard to believe that these students, from another country, were able to get in touch with the local media so easily, but found difficulty in speaking with an HR representative that is located on the same property that they work. If I was in their position, and I felt slighted with my living conditions, I would have been beating doors down until the issues were resolved. -
How would going with a child make you hate trims more than you already do? My suggestion is to not go at all, that way you can gripe about something else that you cannot control, say like , the weather.
