  1. In a perfect World, it would be nice to have the park accomodate their guests. Perhaps in the future, if the park would purchase new trains, they would be more accomodating.
  2. If expanding the park would result in more people, that would mean that KI has an issue with their current capacity. Now I ask you, how often do the entry gates shut down due to capacity issues?
  3. ^ Thanks! All I could visualize, and hear, was me biting into a pizza and hearing the crunch of cicadas.
  4. Some goals: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/visit/tips.cfm#size
  5. ^ CP has always had packages like this, perhaps not with the breakfast vouchers, but a normal package nonetheless: http://resorts.cedarpoint.com/public/packages.cfm
  6. I don't think so. Kingda Ka, which is faster, goes only 128. Does Cedar Point now claim Top Thrill does 142? It used to claim 120.... darn fat finger!
  7. Given that information, it may not work out for SF the way they would hope it would. But from a training aspect, that could make things worse for SF. They really need to settle this ASAP.
  8. From one angle, I agree, as long as the ride is indentical to the former S;ToP. But from the other; since the accident in Spain did not end tragically, quite possibly due to the ride operator hitting the E-Stop button, that could be against SF and their training procedures.
  9. That is a Mayfly, aka "Candian Flyers". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayfly Mayflies are really bad around the shores of Lake Erie at night. They get so bad that entire pop machines, glass windows, etc. will be covered due to the mayflies attraction to light. That is why you don't want to be in the first seat of a CP coaster, and that you need to keep your mouth closed on rides from about 5:00pm till closing. Just take a look on the front of the coaster cars to seet the previous night's casulties. I have seen a picture of a teenager that sat in ther front seat of TTD. It looked like he was shot by very small pellets and he was bleeding all over his white T-shirt. The small blood marks were actually bugs killed by his body traveling at 142mph. During the baseball playoffs last year, Jacobs Field (now Progressive Field) was "attacked" by what the TV announcers believed to be mayflies but were not. The bugs that attacked the playing field are a relative to a mosquito, but don't bite.
  10. It is too bad that your parents insist on a 1 day trip. Only because, there is so much to do there, it would be practically impossible to do it all in one day. And considering that this will be your first trip, if you went two days this year, you would not have to go back for a couple more years. You definately need to go to the resort entrance, that is easily the best option. And as far as what rides to hit, that is one rider's opinion. I personally love MF, whereas others don't care for it. Others love Magnum, where I say that it is a good ride. You really need to go on all the rides to form a good opinion.
  11. That is not practical though. First, Ohio mandates that parks must follow manufacturer's guidelines. There is no wiggle room there (no pun intended). The manufacturer engineered and designed the ride and trains with safety in mind. They are much more qualified to set the safety standards of the ride they designed. No offense to any park, but I feel better that the manufacturer has control of the safety standards and not the park. In addition, if the park is following they safety standards set by the manufacturer, and there happens to be a terrible accident, the manufacturer and the park will be held liable, not just the park. From the park's insurer standpoint, that is big when it comes down to who is at fault as well as the investigation and future designs of restraints.
  12. Some tips: Considering that this is your first trip to CP, you really need to be at the park for 2 full days, and since you have a Platinum Pass, you have aleady paid for your admission to the park. You can find a hotel near the park that is cheap, but may not be the nicest room that you have stayed in. The Value-Inn Motel http://travela.priceline.com/hotel/overvie...ky-4335903.html is just East, about 3 miles, from the park entrance and is a ok place. It has beds, a shower, and a TV and that is about it. No phones, but I'm sure you or your parents, or yourself, have a cell phone. I have stayed there a few times when I was younger and for $46/ night, that place is tough to beat. The cost of two nights there is cheaper than one night most other places. And if you bring your own food like subs or cold cuts, and drinks, you can really cut down on the expenses. CP is a big place, and can be difficult to manage for first time guests, and what I mean by manage is what rides to hit at what time. Maverick and Millenium Force are normally the longest lines in the park. It is a great idea that you will be going during the week due to both of those rides will have about an hour wait during the day. Now if you get in early and hit both rides during ERT, you do have a good shot at getting on all 17 coasters, but if you would go for 2 days, you would definately hit all the coasters and all the thrill rides without feeling rushed. The weather is also a big deal at CP. Storms on Lake Erie can come in VERY quickly, and be rather severe. CP will shut down their coasters at the threat of rain for safety reasons. Wind also plays a big factor for operations. If it is really windy coasters like Raptor and TTD will shut down. Only going for one day puts all your eggs in one basket. If it does happen to be a bad weather day, you could be walking around the park looking, not riding, at some great coasters and knowing that you only have one day. A two day trip gives you a better window of opportunity to enjoy the park completely. I would also jump on http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/visit/tod...th=6&day=10 and click the day you are planning on going to see if there is a special event going on. I personally would not go during a special event due to the amout of people that potentially could be at the park. What I will often do is a 1.5 day trip. Drive up to CP on Sunday afternoon and be at the park about 5 pm Sunday night. The park often times clears out on Sunday night and you can get on a bunch of rides and then also see what you are in store for for your full day and plan with your group as to what to go on. And then go all day Monday and come home Tuesday. I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions, just let me know.

Sorry kid, but you have issues. But you do seem intelligent enough that there will come a time where you can sit back and listen to others before trying to twist their words. If you will only listen to 24 people on one ride vs. thousands of others, there is not much more that can be said. And the discussion has only gone to comical only because you want to twist the truth. When I was 16, I did the same thing. No matter what evidence was in front of me, I would also make things up and refuse to listen to logic. It's really not your fault because most others at the same age, including myself, have done the same thing. If you want to believe that I'm being rude, that's ok. Letting discussions like this get to a personal level is petty, especially when it resorts to name calling. KIC is better than that. My intent was not to get on a personal level, and if I have insulted you in any way, my apologies. I do respect your drive to prove your point, but you do need some better angles. If you would like to IM me, please feel free to do so. End of discussion.
  14. ^ You think that is bad. Magnum will be 20 next year. I can still remember waiting in line for Magnum in '89, through all those extra queue lines behind the crappy little bathroom that sits near the Magnum entrance. It was over a two hour wait.
  15. Other tips for people: You don't have to rent a car to go to Universal or Sea World either if staying on Disney property. There are actually tour busses that will pick you up at your Disney resort and bring you to each park. You can just speak with a concierge at the resort and they will set it up for you. Now if you want to go to BGA, which is only about 1 hour away, there are rental car agencies on Disney property and are VERY accomodating to your needs.
  16. That was a nice PTR. I am surprised that you already do not have a CF season pass and paid the $30 for the Twilight entry.

So you consider that "profound influence" means that "enthusiasts represent the opinion of the GP?" Wow. That is intresting. You certainly know how to twist things. Or in this case, just make stuff up. And yes, I have provided new information such as: direct quotes from a park owner, the possibility that people on an enthusiast site may not be enthusiasts, and that the 24 marathoning guests you witnessed could have very well been enthusiasts themselves and not members of the GP as you have claimed. And the thousands of people that I speak of are the members of coaster sites, as well as the amount of votes SoB receives (or in this case, does not receive). You assumed that people do not look up information with this quote: If that does not mean that people do not look up information on the net in your opinion, then what does it mean? And now, you claim that the same people that you are basing your entire arguement on that like SoB say stupid things and promote rumors. You should consider a career in stand-up comedy! Because this entire discussion has gone from stupid to comical.

Wow. Here we go again. The only reason this is getting old is that you have provided no new information past the 4-5 marathoning trains you heard. Do you have something else? When did anyone say that enthusiasts represent the opinion of the GP? On top of that, now you are assuming that people do not look up information on the internet. So you can argue that enthusiasts do not represent the opinion of the GP, and then turn around and assume that people do not look up information on the net? You must be joking. You have witnessed the opinions of 4-5 marathoning trains on SoB. I have provided thousands of people's feelings through websites. Those same web sites that you assume people have to be an enthusiast to reply on. Did it ever cross your mind that members of the GP actually may look up information on the net, find a site, and then decide to share a trip report? How can you possibly listen to a total of 24 people enjoying themselves vs. thousands of others who may or may not be an enthusiast at all? That makes no sense. Have a nice day at work.
  19. You are basing your entire opinion of CP from one Saturday visit 12 years ago? I say Saturday only because of all my trips to CP, I have never seen Corkscrews' line 1 hr+ except on a Saturday. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket. Exactly where do you live? The reason why I ask, is that I live in Erie, PA, which is about 5.5 hrs. from KI in traffic. My family will leave Erie at 4:30am and hit KI close to opening, be at the park all day, stay in a hotel overnight and be back in Erie by 4:00pm the next day. We will do this about 5 times a summer and consumes only 2 days. Also, perhaps playing a video game ate up time (and money ) that you could have been enjoying the rides?

Huh? What arguement? KIBeast and I had a really good discussion on our beliefs, and then you chimed in. If you don't want to be part of the discussion, don't comment. I really have no clue as to what you are trying to accomplish. Could you be less open ended? It would really help out! Thanks!

Again, you cannot determine a coaster's popularity by how long the line is. There are too many variables such as: amount of trains, train capacity, effort put out by the crew, attendence in the park, other rides being down, blocking, etc. Imagine if SoB had a 20 minute wait with a 2 train operation and 24 riders/ train vs. Beast that was a walk-on with a three train operation and 36 riders/ train. Does that mean SoB is more popular because it has a longer wait? You could try and argue that the capacity for SoB is 1600 people/ hr. But that also means trains are being dispatched at a rate of 66.7 trains/ hour. Do you think that is happening? If there was some way to see the amount of guests that actually went on the coaster over a season's time and compare that figure with years' past is a good way to determine the popularity, but SoB is no there yet with all the changes made in the last 18 months.
  22. WHOO HOOO! Today is the second strait day of temps in the 80's in Erie! I actually turned on my AC in the house! It may be premature, but I think summer '08 is finally here!
